The Cuphead Elitists Episode (Commentocracy)

I don't think this works this well as a weekly show, since it gets pretty stale quickly.
Maybe a new episode every 2 weeks would be better.
nobody is arguing that those people deserve ridicule, but that's material worth for 1 joke, maybe 1 video, not an entire series of videos

also, while those people are definitely exaggerating and are more than a little smug, it's not like the fear that accessibility might lead to dumbed down games down the line is that preposterous..if anything because it has already happened to dozens of historic series.
Dumbing down of the gameplay can really hurt a game, but adding an easy mode is not that.
In face it's one of the best ways to make a game more accessible without making it simpler.
A ton of deep games also have easy modes and it didn't hurt them at all.

I never really paid attention to Jim Sterling previously, but this series has been absolutely perfect. Anything that takes aim at the elitism in video games is fine by me.

well, yeah,it's the slippery slope argument..some people think that budge an inch would lead to a domino effect in said direction, and that's why they fear the very concept of accessibility.

of course it's not always this the cause, sometimes it's just the stupidity or wanting to consider himself part of an "elite" (we are the gamerz, the others are the casualz)

EDIT: oh to be clear,my post was referring to the entirety of the "commentocracy series",which more or less ridicules the same kind of people every time,so whle this video in particular was about the easy mode in cuphead, the others are more or less on the general idea

Honestly, I don't find the bit that funny but I'm all for shining a light on dumbasses.
Going by the defenders in this thread that makes you elitist my dude.

I don't think anyone in here has said anything remotely close to agreeing with the comments in the video, they just thought it wasn't funny.

I don’t mind content like this. I love the stuff that noises does where musicians read you tube comments. I just dislike when it’s solely one sided because you just get the same reaction over and over.

Was there a controversy about cuphead difficulty?

I mean, one of the quotes talked about Simple mode cutting content. Is that the only problem?, or is that even simple mode is considered too hard?

I can see people being annoyed about the locked bosses (even if secret stages/bosses hidden behind harder difficulties are a classic) but reading now I see people complaining about removing the final phase of each boss .(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/10/03/cuphead-simple-mode/ )

Whats the problem with removing the harder part of each boss in a mode made to be both easier and simpler?

Sorry void666, you're now an elitist.

I enjoy a good challenge. I think games are already very easy. It's nice to have something like cuphead for a change.

I played cuphead for 30 minutes or so. It really is a difficult game so i put it aside. I'll come back later when i'm in the right mindset for this kind of game.

It's so strange this push to make games easier. Gaming journalists and gaf. Every other day there's a thread on gaf about games being too hard.

I bet an elitist asshole like Obama made a comment about why Cuphead needs to be hard after he put Dijon mustard on his burger. That smug son of a bitch thinking he's better than me.

Folks sounding real insecure about people not finding this video funny.

I can't really watch these because i just cringe very hard the entire time. But, based on the first one, I don't really see why he thought this would be good as a series. It feels like too much.

This is so hilarious and sad at the same time. I'd be embarrassed as fuck if I made one of those comments and he used it.

I think he made a joke because some people are calling everyone who did not find the video funny elitists

I'm no human anatomy major, but based on the rubbing, Jim must have some really high nipples.
Yeah, this really ruined my immersion.

Too be fair, our duke shouldn't be forced to fall so low as to rub his own nipplays. I'd likely get just as sloppy at the ol' rubs if I had manservants to do all the hard work for me.

I'm curious to hear the perspective from the Cuphead Developer's themselves.
I didn't and won't watch the video, but I'll agree that some gamers are flat out unreasonable.

However, I will defend my view of every game not requiring an easy mode till my death.
If a videogame has difficulty settings at all, I think's it fair to include an easy mode at all times.

It's the games that don't have difficulty settings at all that shouldn't have them.

Which quote in the video was yours?
By reading the comments in this thread I know this video hit too close to some poster's homes.

You can agree that the quotes are mostly dumb and think the video is obnoxious and unfunny, you know.

I actually laughed pretty hard at the first video. I laughed at the second one too, maybe a bit less. I didn't laugh at this one at all.

It's like in Monthy Python and the Holy Grail. Some of the gags in that movie start out very funny, but they keep going on and on forever until they are stretched so thin that they become the opposite of funny, and are just annoying.

I like Commentocracy.
fun, short videos that pokes fun at cringe comments that I normally don't run across (fortunately)

also the comparison of elitists gamer to a 18th century aristocrats is a comedically genius concept imo.

It's kinda like the parrot sketch. It starts out amusing, then gets less funny, then it goes on for so long it's hilarious.

What are they?

You immediately know that you're playing on the difficulty the developers balanced the game for.

Of course, if we lived in a sane world this difficulty would always be 'Normal,' or at least have a note telling you which difficulty the game is designed around. But we're at the point where 'Normal' often means 'Very Easy,' and unless you ask GAF there's no way to know what the proper difficulty is, so . . .

Eh the joke ran its course for me but I think Jim should do what is fun for him to make and profitable.

And personally I think Jim is having a lot of fun doing these so I have no qualms with it.

He really is going to milk the aristocrat thing, isn't he?

This one just wasn't very funny at all. I'd go as far as saying it was slightly cringey.

Not very good but at least it wasn´t about lootboxes

I give this video one common item out of a level 5 invincible Boba Fett while using his jetpack

The comments in here telling people who don't find the video funny that theyre upset and are elitists are far funnier to me than the video. Like those are just as cringe worthy as the comments hes quoting here.

This was funny in the first episode, but what are we on now like the 4th one in two weeks? Make it a bi monthly thing and it will be way better.

No idea what part of my sense of humour is broken, but I've found this character and concept consistently amusing.

Maybe it was watching all that Blackadder the Third as a kid that did it?
