The Daily "Just Got a DS, Help w/ Games" Thread

Eggo

GameFan Alumnus
I don't see a thread in the first 3 pages dedicated to just DS software, so here goes:

Recently got a DS and am trying to make sure I didn't miss anything. This is what I currently have:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Animal Crossing
Trauma Center
Advanced Wars: Dual Strike
Viewtiful Joe
Castlevania DOS
Nintendogs
Nanostray
Feel The Magic

This is what I will be purchasing soon:

Ouendan
Meteos
Polarium
Mario & Luigi
Zoo Keeper

I am NOT interested in:

Mario Kart
Bust a Move

Suggestions on what I might have overlooked? I'm hoping this thread will also be helpful to the new DS owners from Xmas or Boxer Day, whatever that is... :P BTW, new DS owners, Best Buy is your friend.

May I inquire why you're uninterested in Mario Kart?

I'm not a big fan of kart-racing, and I always saw MK as having a strong multi-player emphasis. For my DS-owning friends, the 'multi-player' game of choice right now is Animal Crossing.

Kirby.

One of the best examples of a game taking advantage of the DS and actually producing something substantial and fun.

Have you heard of online play?

What's that? Hmm... I don't have wireless Internet, and my neighbors are smart enough to lock theirs up. I also don't want to leave the house to play a portable video game.

You don't need wireless, buy the USB dongle

Add Mario 64 and Metroid Prime Pinball to your list. And...

Again, Sonic & Yoshi > Kirbyds.
I haven't played Sonic Rush or Yoshi Touch and Go, but I'm inclined to agree just on the basis that Kirby has no replay value.

Kirby's still worthwhile, just lower priority than some of the really top-notch DS stuff.

Why not just take Yoshi&Sonic&Kirby =)? All of them are great.

Damn, you recently got it and you already have that many games?
Give Lost in Blue a try.

:/ What dongle is this? I'd like to go online with Animal Crossing.

I 8> Best Buy and their silly coupon.

Can this USB dongle be purchased at any game store or do I have to order from Nintendo's website? If my cpu can run this, I'm all over it (and it should, but the link mentions something about a test, which the link does not point me directly to, so I couldn't verify it will work).

It will work on a PC running Windows XP. I'm not clear on whether it's available in stores in the U.S., but it's pretty widely available in Canada, so I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
