I went back to read the TDK thread, the one posted on the previous page, and wow so many fake reports and stupid rumors about who is going to play who and how their role will be fleshed out. Fake teasers, trailers, pictures, and even a false story about who Anthony Michael Hall was going to play.

I guess we should expect more of the same in the coming months for this movie.

I wonder if the viral marketing will be similar.

I remember there was story going around about someone who got to see an early cut a few weeks before release (Which had some weight, because that was around the time we started seeing shots from the hospital scenes, and the whole body-bag controversy) that claimed that there was a huge plot twist at the end that revealed that there were two Jokers. Ridiculous stuff.
 
There will probably be a teaser attached to Harry Potter in July, then some actual footage shown at Comic Con, then full trailer in Nov/Dec.
 
We got the first official Joker photo in May, which was a month after filming had really begun.

We might get a Catwoman or Bane photo in June then, although it depends on what they are shooting by then. Oldman said they are shooting from May to December. The VFX supervisor also said TDKR's shoot is their longest one yet.
 
Somehow I doubt we get the same viral marketing games and countdowns for Bane. I mean it fit the Joker. Plus there was so much more hype for his reveal because he is so iconic.

Still I want them to do something cool. Maybe another approach but something that keeps us tools going nuts for over a year.

In terms of the teaser aspect. This one gives a great taste of things to come with no footage and minimal dialogue. Perhaps I should have added "minimalist" to my initial phrasing.

There are obviously many better trailers in general out there.

The only teasing that trailer did was teasing that someone somewhere might know how to use some kind of video editing software.

If WB were smart, they'd attach something to Green Lantern and make it known. That's the more similar fanbase, and you might sway the maybes into the theater. It'd probably be another minimal one, but that's fine.

No way, man. The fanbase seeing Green Lantern will already be on board TDKR. Attaching it to Harry Potter will mean a lot more mainstream awareness. In any case, its not like TDK passed under the radar.

Superman returns and the casino royale teasers both made my jaw drop when I first saw them. Lol, people used to not like the daniel craig casting.

The first picture is probably from Batman Begins :) the part where Bats jumps down with all the bats around him?

I was talking about getting people into Green Lantern, not TDKR. Mainstream awareness for TDKR will be huge by summer 2012 no matter which movie the teaser is attached to. Use the teaser to help the movie that most needs a boost in audience interest.
 
Hahha damn I remember the mad hate Daniel Craig was getting. Some people were comparing his face to some cartoon character or some shit I forgot. Embarrassing stuff, and then the trailer drops and they bow at his feet.

Anyways throw in this for good teasers too. Haters be damned. That was slick.

As cool as this whole grr gritty realism thing is for comic book films I'm beginning to appreciate the tone of Thor and Green Lantern. While the teasers were both dogshit for those films at least they aren't pussying out by neutering the whole fantasy elements in the films. I don't think audiences are ready for fantasy comic book films right now sadly but at least some people are trying.

Too bad the Nolanverse doesn't allow for Superman or the Mutants to exist. (They could work around the Mutant Leader, but not Supes). Also Bale said he'll never do a Batman film with Robin in the story.
