Just bought D2 for the first time in order to get used to the gameplay. I've played Titan Quest and Torchlight, which I both enjoyed. I have a couple questions about D2 though. First, where/how should I start? I bought the battlechest ($20 at best buy right now!) and installed both D2 and the xpac. I'm not sure how the xpac works. Is it like most xpac's where its a continuation of the first game? Or can I start at the beginning of D2 with the xpac characters?

Also, I'm getting color corruption issues when running this on win7. I've got it running on 256 color, 640x480 resolution, and I've disabled visual theme (these are the settings I use to get starcraft to work), but I still get color corruption. The game is on version 1.2 btw.
 
Damn, I need to get Diablo 2 again, btw.

I used to own it when I was living back in Spain, but I didn't bring it with me and I have a feeling they don't sell it here (Japan).

Any good site to buy it from? It's not on Steam nor anything like that, I guess..
 
BTW, the female models for the Barbarian and Monk are up already (been there for a few days already).

Female barbarian is kinda ugly imo (which I guess fits better than a hot girl), but the female monk is pretty cool.
 
It's hard for me to get hyped for a game so far away. My only solace is by the time D3 comes out, I will have a much better PC to enjoy it with.

As far as I know, there's also a FFXIV information thread and the game is not supposed to be released anytime soon.. (and the thread itself has been around since many months ago already).
 
Super hyped for this. My friend Peet Cooper is one of the artists and the guy who made the rainbow/ponies logo, so Im definitely excited to to see what his contributions look like :D (he got hired at Blizzard a couple of years ago)

He's got some quite awesome illustration mixed with "uh..." stuff on his gallery :lol But yeah, pretty good guy.

I was also checking this other guy's (Victor Lee) who's apparently one of the artists for Diablo 3, and his website is.. awesome:

I was actually excited to click on this topic, hoping to find new substantial info since what they released at last years Blizzcon... oh wait.. there was that character female barbarian art a week ago...
The wait for this is painful, the wait for any 'new' info is just as painful.

So true. People could still go and play Starcraft online. It will be always a different experience, but after so many years, Diablo 2 can start to get a bit repetitive :(

Enters beta in a month or so and will be out later this year worldwide.

Diablo 3 has at least seventeen years of development left. I also doubt Blizzard will bother putting it on the consoles. The only Blizzard ports in the past were from third parties, Nintendo specifically did the SC64 port (and god did it fucking SUCK, our friend who didnt have a PC kept trying to make us play it with him. Agony) I think. I don't think Blizzard would let anyone do that anymore.
 
This is one of my most anticipated games ever. I love D2.
There's also a Highres mod floating around for people wanting to play at higher resolutions.

My cousin and his friends who've been playing wow since the beginning said they will quit completely when Diablo III is out.
Maybe that's why blizzard is releasing the wow expansion first to give some wow players a reason to stay, before D3's release.

Can't see that the majority of the WoW user base think like this.
They are completely different experiences.

Diablo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Im just wondering how blizzard will market this game on release. Is it going to cater to the mmo gamer or the regular diablo type of person who wants a solid single player experience with free online play.

Nope, but at this pace i'd guess during BlizzCon? There will surely be a Diablo 3 panel, so I'd guess they would introduce the new class and some new stuff by then.

We also only know about one dungeon (Tristam Cathedral), though I guess the borderlands dungeon is also a different one, but they have not officially announced it. Unless what we saw were some kind of small random dungeons around Borderlands and nothing from the main story?..

I am guessing the latter since Diablo 3 is not an MMO. Blizzard will market it to Hardcore Diablo 1 & 2 players who need a fresh fix and need to start collecting more loot.

Playing all other games will utterly stop once Diablo 3 finally arrives. :lol

We have seen no dungeon, all dungeon that we saw were created just for presentation not the final game but they use the same asset tile. They said the reasoning for this is that they don't want to spoil the game when they are showing too much.

Well, I doubt we would see a "final layout" seeing how the dungeons are randomly generated :P

But yeah, I know we have seen next to nothing. But still, we know how this dungeon will look. Not the final layout because that doesn't even exist except for a few preset areas I'd guess.

Anyway, we have seen basically Tristam, Tristam Cathedral (that is, the Tristam Monastery on the map, or at least near there) and the Dry steppes. Of course, from these three places we have seen probably about 1%, but still.. :P

Either way, I don't expect this game for PS3/360 and even if it gets released for them, chances are I would buy the PC version. My brother doesn't like consoles but he's so going to play Diablo 3 via PC so I'd rather play with him than some strangers :P
Only problem is that I live in Japan and I'm sure the game would get a really late release (Crapcom releases it over here) so I'll probably import it.. a limited/collectors/special edition if available.

This isn't a MMO or RTS we're talking about here. I don't think Diablo is so terribly difficult to adapt to consoles that they would throw away millions of potential sales, especially when they probably wouldn't handle the development or costs of development themselves. They care about balance, but probably not more than they care about money.

If the last class isn't specifically ranged and you guys still feel certain there won't be a port then... Oh boy.
 
:lol @ the idea of a console Diablo 3.

Blizzard is pouring millions into Battle.net (PC) and that will be their main focus.

A console version of D3 probably wouldn't even be done in-house.
 
you think that it is possible that MAC and PC users can multiplay together??
I think it is the case with Warcraft3....

I think I'm having the same issue. It seems fairly washed out, and there are...dots. Not dots because it is pixel art, but like a pattern overlay that seems to be tied to the washed out look.

Also, is neogaf playing D2? Should we, you know, do it together?
