So here's a question for coffee afficiandos out there. Now that I've moved to another city, I no longer have a Starbucks coffee in my regular daily commute. There are, however, multiple dunkin donuts. However, when I get my regular coffee at Dunkies, it never packs the same punch as my regular at starbucks. If I get a large cinnamon coffee, cream and sugar at Dunkies, I feel tired about 10 minutes after I drink it, but if I get my vente cinnamon dolce latte no whip at starbucks, I feel super energized and motivated for half the day.

Why is this? Can someone inform me? And yes, I know the real correct answer is to just french press a cup for myself in the morning, but that takes time away from sleepin'.

Allergic reaction? I used to get tired all the time after eating until I found out that I can't eat wheat.

It sounds like you're getting a lot more sugar from the Starbucks

depending on the volume of other ingredients, the espresso in starbucks might have more caffeine than the flavored coffee.

There aren't any Dunkin Donuts where I live and I only order black coffee from Starbucks, so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Starbucks make their lattes with espresso and Dunkin doesn't.

According to this site, the standard Starbucks coffee has over 60% more caffeine, which might just be from the beans themselves, and that doesn't factor in differences in the amount of coffee and milk.

It's possible to end up with completely different caffeine content with the same type of drink.

Are the "regular" coffee and the "Large Cinnamon" Dunkin Donuts coffee two different things, btw? Wasn't sure if I read that correctly.

Difference:

Cinnamon coffee has no espresso.

Cinnamon latte whatever-the-shit from Starbucks has espresso.

Two completely different beverages with relatively the same amount of sugar.

Regular coffee will keep you alert for maybe an hour or 2 max.
Espresso will give you what you want for a bit longer - say 3-5 hours.

If you want a longer kick, add an extra shot.

I can't get through the day without my vente soy chai coco mocho dolce gabbana latte with goat-milk whip cream and gluten-free sprinkles

My parents owned a coffee shop when I was in my mid-teens. One day me and my buddies made a drink with 8 shots of espresso and a cup of sugar. It was actually quite fun. Teeth grittingly WIRED

I work with espresso almost every day. Drinking 6-8 shots is average. I don't get wired anymore. It's all for the taste, mostly. Nothing beats a beautifully pre-infused and properly extracted shot of espresso. Completely fantastic.

When I initially come into work, a simple cappuccino of Honduras COMSA picks me up. It's my favorite :3 Gibraltars are tasty too.

Yeah, that caffeine tolorance over time kind of sucks! My favorite coffee right now is a single origin manual pour that a local shop makes. One of the best cups of coffee I have ever tasted. Wonderful, even! On the road or in a hurry, an Americano is what I go with.

EDIT: Just looked up COMSA, it sounds fantastic!

DD has espresso - just order a "turbo" shot in your coffee.

And protip: don't put fucking cinnamon/cream/sugar in your coffee. What are you like 12 years old and 300 pounds heavy?

I don't know what the fuck you're drinking but it ain't coffee. I've never had DD coffee but I've heard it's better than Starbucks'. Starbucks coffee tastes like burnt shit.

Yeah, I've stopped asking for sugar in the coffee. Cream only, unless it's one of those fancy coffee's at starbucks. Not sure what a Caramel Frappuccino with no sugar tastes like.

lol @ needing sugar added to your coffee that already has some cinnamon syrup in it. i remember a few years ago i got a raspberry coffee from dunkin and they added sugar in it, it had the consistency and taste of raspberry iced tea.

shits nasty, though it does an alright cake mix replacement for sugar.

I'm not cutting back on sugar entirely (though, should, DIABEETUS LURKS). But Coffee sans sugar taste, can have a nice taste on it's own (unless the coffee's burnt/old. Nothing can save it then).

I love Dunkin Donuts. But I am originally from Massachusetts, and I was exposed to their coffee as a teen. My gf hates it and thinks it is vile and insists on Starbucks. It's purely a taste thing.

You go to Dunkin Donuts for a little sugar with your coffee.
