The Difference Between Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts

A latte does have espresso.

Additionally, I just found out that DD coffee is also more acidic than Starbucks coffee. I don't think it changes how much caffeine you get, but you could be getting more sugar on your DD coffee.

I love Dunkin Donuts. But I am originally from Massachusetts, and I was exposed to their coffee as a teen. My gf hates it and thinks it is vile and insists on Starbucks. It's purely a taste thing.

From the South, so we never had one of those "gigantic coffee brands" be a regional thing. I know I visited DD before Starbucks, but it was as a kid, so it was donuts only. I did Starbucks coffee before DD.

Starbucks to me, is "fancy coffee for those times you just want to buy an expensive cup of whipped air with a dash of coffee." DD is for straight up coffee goodness. I don't like their Lattes, or really any of their flavored coffees.

If it ain't worth drinking black, it ain't worth drinking.

lol @ needing sugar added to your coffee that already has some cinnamon syrup in it. i remember a few years ago i got a raspberry coffee from dunkin and they added sugar in it, it had the consistency and taste of raspberry iced tea.

The cinnamon Dunkin Donuts puts in the coffee isn't syrup, its just the pure flavoring. They only put sugar in if you request it. The only flavoring they sell that always will have sugar in it is mocha.

Add an espresso shot to it next time.

Also, Pumpkin Spice coffee at Dunkin Donuts is the best thing ever.

Just not really a fan of the taste of DD coffee. It always seems more watery and never tastes like it is supposed to. Starbucks is usually quite tasty for me but I'm sure that's because it's loaded with sugar/chocolate/caramel whatever.

Starbucks espresso caffeines the shit out of their coffees iced to make sure it doesn't get substantially diluted when the ice melts.

Grande iced skinny vanilla latte with two pumps vanilla, two pumps hazelnut for life bitches.

Also pumpkin spice lattes when in season.

That latte uses espresso which packs more of a punch caffeine wise.

EDIT: Beaten!

Espresso only packs a bigger punch per ounce. In a venti (20oz) latte, you're getting 150mg (2oz) of espresso, whereas in a large (20oz) coffee you're looking at well over 300mg of caffeine. It's not the caffeine, it's the fact that the cinnamon dolce latte is made with whole milk and sugar so your body is getting more fuel.

What city are you in? I assure you there is probably a local establishment that makes good coffee for less than starbucks.

You'd be surprised. My favorite coffee in the city comes from Boston Coffee Bean Company, but you can spend up to 6 or 7 dollars getting the drink you want there.

what about a cup of coffee

Why does everyone always say Starbucks is so expensive? Maybe for specialty drinks but I don't have them. For a regular cup of coffee it's fine.

yes as in those with taste like SB

you ever hear someone at SB ask for 15 sugars and 50% milk?

people who like dunkin, dont like coffee, they like dunkin

asking if dunkin coffee is good is like asking if yoohoo is a good chocolate milk, of course not, it's a chocolate drink

Since I am used to Eastern European coffee, Starbucks is just hot sugar-water.

What is Eastern European coffee like? Similar to Turkish coffee or Greek coffee? Those seem similar to me to a Cafe Cubano. Which is a really nice coffee when I'm craving something other than black coffee, and I feel like taking in 1 or 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Yeah, I only order plain black coffee and I get people asking me why I spend so much by going to Starbucks.

I usually make my coffee at home so I can use my vacpot and better beans, but if I have to get coffee from somewhere Starbucks is the best option. All the other chains around here have terrible black coffee and the good local places are usually too out of the way.

Is Dunkin' Donuts American Tim Horton's?

Yeah, they're pretty similar. Their black coffee isn't quite as awful as Timmy's though.

It's pretty much a variation of Turkish coffee. Good stuff.

So here's a question for coffee afficiandos out there. Now that I've moved to another city, I no longer have a Starbucks coffee in my regular daily commute. There are, however, multiple dunkin donuts. However, when I get my regular coffee at Dunkies, it never packs the same punch as my regular at starbucks. If I get a large cinnamon coffee, cream and sugar at Dunkies, I feel tired about 10 minutes after I drink it, but if I get my vente cinnamon dolce latte no whip at starbucks, I feel super energized and motivated for half the day.

Why is this? Can someone inform me? And yes, I know the real correct answer is to just french press a cup for myself in the morning, but that takes time away from sleepin'.

Expresso?

Since I've worked there for two year running now, Starbucks drinks don't really do much for me anymore. Frappuchinos are disgusting when you know exactly what goes into them, and the brewed coffee is a step below Dunkin Donuts or even McDs. Nowadays whenever I do need coffee there I just get iced coffee. There's a place downtown called The Steaming Cup which also has much better brews.
