The Difference/Relationship Between Fox and Fox News?

With all the (rightful) hate that Fox News gets it brings to mind to the greater entity that is Fox which is, from what I understand, an American media conglomerate similar to Disney or Comcast. However, unlike Disney and the many companies brought under its fold, Fox News seems to operate as it's own untouchable entity compared to its sister corporations like the film studio 20th Century Fox is generally received positively in terms of not having a reputation if being bigoted/racist.

Why is this? It's odd to me that amidst media conglomerates we have Disney that invests much into its brand reputation whilst Fox seems to not particularly care. But on that point do regular people not care either? What say you GAF, are you fine recognizing Fox News as the horrid rotting egg out of the Fox brand or do you attribute that view onto Fox in general?

Used to work for a local Fox affiliate. Our only connection to the big boys was that we got to use their footage. Most of my coworkers were young liberals who were pretty open in their disdain for Fox News.

I spent my childhood watching cartoons on my local Fox affiliate channel and watching all sorts of 20th century Fox movies, before cable news channels became a thing. So I am acquainted with the difference. Local affiliate channels just have different news anchors and a very different vibe.

I would think that confusion between Fox News and Fox affiliate channels is mostly found in younger people who have watched less TV overall and instead mostly get their entertainment and news from the internet.

Corporations have profit as their #1 priority. Being liberal is generally the better option for this when it comes to entertainment. Fox News in the exception, and since it brings in the profit, it doesn't matter.

I would imagine that the big Fox itself is probably just a holding company that serves as the parent of all of its subsidiaries (like Fox News) and has little to do with any of their day-to-day operations. Like, what has Fox, the parent company, done? Everything is done by its various subsidiaries.

Lisa: One thing I’ve always wondered. How can FOX News be so conservative when the FOX Network keeps airing raunchy shows. They don’t fit together.
Kent Brockman: FOX deliberately runs shows that will earn them huge fines which are then funneled through the FCC straight to the REpublican party. Everybody in the media knows it but no one has the guts to say it!

That makes sense but it still kind of runs counter to against the emphasis of a brand and its importance to a particular corporation. Disney may be very well an exception as well but we have other companies such as Google and Apple in the technology industry doing everything they can to maintain its brand image to the video game industry such as Activision and EA also putting emphasis on its brand.

With the recent drama regarding Fox News and firing of Bill it seems more of a inside drama rather than the parent of Fox finally doing something about it. Could be wrong here though.

I always wondered if this was true, or if they were being sarcastic - considering how Family Guy probably gets a shitload of fines, and MacFarlane is the furthest thing from republican...

If someone says Fox I think of the X-men movies and if someone says Fox News I think of Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.

In my mind they are totally separate.

It gets pretty annoying whenever people instantly write off news stories from Fox affiliates just because of Food News.

Fox has never been fined by the FCC for Family Guy. FCC does get lots of complaints for the show, and other MacFarlane shows, from the Parents Television Council though.
