The Elder Scrolls Online to have monthly subs, is not F2P

I'll pass on this until it goes F2P, just like Wildstar. It looks like EQN is the only MMO on the horizon that I really care about now.

Literally the only reason I barely glanced at this game was because there was no sub.

The art design and gameplay look awful. I MIGHT have played it if there was no sub.

Ouch, way to send the game to die.

Pass, guess my next fantasy MMO will be EQN.

It's coming to PS4 no? so that's PS+ sub AND £9 a month...lolfuckno.

Unfortunate. I won't be playing now.

I said the same thing in the Wildstar thread but with Everquest:Next on the horizon and the success of other FTP mmo's a sub only MMO is dumb. Look at the response from people on here.

If Bioware + Star Wars can't cut it.. Nobody can. Wow is its own class and Elder Scrolls can't touch it.

You lost me...I woulda played the f out of that game if they figured out how to make it F2P. I was actually up between this and EQN. Sorry Bethesda.

The only game i'm willing to pay 15$ a month is WoW, and that is only because i invested too much on my account since 2006 and i still enjoy playing the game.

New MMOs though? Not a chance, even if they're fun.

How would everyone feel If a sub was 4.99 a month? I don't understand why they all choose $15 it's asking alot these days. On PC $15 dollars can buy the world.

APB style 'pay as you play', where I can buy hours that last even when I'm not playing, and I'm interested.

I aint subscribing to shit.

yeah, I completely lost interest in this.

my interest probably peaked at a 6/10 anyway, because I haven't been really into an MMO since I left wow in Cata and never looked back, but this just seals the deal. There are too many other great games out there like Guild Wars 2 if I want to dip my toes in an MMO to deal with sub fees.

My point exactly! Monthly subs for MMOs is a ship that has sailed.

What I was saying was that Star Wars has a stable subscriber base these days, that pay 14 bucks a month playing that game. Supplimented of course by a larger piece-meal purchasing player-base.

A hybrid model I think is the best bet these days.

The quote in the OP is hilarious. I think a pay to play $ub is the be$t option for thi$ game, not that FTP is bad... Lol

I kind of knew this was going to happen, when they started developing this game FTP wasn't like it is now. I'm sure the entire dev process was driven with the idea of a PtP sub.

Too bad it will kill this game.

Big mistake.

Why not follow the same model as GW2 ?

Buy the game - Play the game.

Whenever I see subs, I instantly forget about that game.

They must think the Elder Scroll name is enough (Star Wars wasn't...), they see that Scrooge McDuck money vault Blizzard swim in and want some of that. Forget the fact GW2 has done really well, and still has repeatable income in the gem store...

First Wildstar and now this? What kind of stupid people are in charge of such failure-bound choices?

The WoW-Boom is over, P2P MMOs are gone and over the horizon. It is not viable to launch them in this manner any longer. The only exception that I can think of is A Realm Reborn which will be on multiple platforms so it's much more likely to be sustainable but besides that; if you build a MMORPG for PC and for PC only you only have two options, B2P or F2P. These are the rules, deal with it you money hungry publishers.

Star Wars Galaxies is the only MMO that interested me enough to pay a sub fee, and that still stands. If I'm going to play a wow clone, I might as well play the real deal.

Eh if it means they can spend more money on development I'll happily pay for a month or 2. If it's not worth it i'll unsub, not a big deal really.

Maybe when someone releases a B2P or F2P MMO that isn't shit, I'll start caring.

In the mean time, $10-15 hasn't bothered me in over a decade considering the amount of entertainment that the MMOs I've spent any considerable amount of time with have provided in any given month.

It's certainly preferable to the inherent issues that arise from having a disconnect between your current playerbase and your cash flow.

Wow lost all interest and I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan.

I've never played a MMO before. So typically you will have to buy the full game at $60 + $15 a month? Thats really expensive. When you suggest F2P do you mean pay $60 and no monthly charge; or do you mean get the game for free and buy content you chose?
