i bought 5 booster packs and have more than enough to make 2 decks. friend and i played some today with just my cards. now he's going to buy his own theme deckGary Whitta said:I really am a noob here, what's the difference between a booster pack and a theme deck? A theme deck is what you'd actually need for a second player, and a booster pack is a smaller set of cards to supplement said deck?

It sucks that there isn't a single TRU left in San Francisco...Onix said:Just picked up my copy.
For those looking for the game or cards ... give Toys R Us a call. Not only did they have a couple of the bundles, they also had plenty of boosters and themed decks.
I grabbed 3 booster packs to tide me over until my boxes show up.

that didn't take long
no_to_co said:Why are people surprised, or why is this even a big deal? You can very easily copy any Magic, Pokemon, or Yugioh cards and play with the copies. It is up to you if you prefer to play with the originals or some facsimile.
If you are a collector, you do not want copies, anyway.

I'm not a hardcore CCG fan, but I played Magic like...13 years ago and I played the Star Wars CCG when it came out, whenever that was. This plays differently, it has much more of a "geographical" tactical aspect to it, kind of like a CCG infused with a bit of chess.YYZ said:Any hardcore CCG fans care to compare this to other CCGs? I'm curious how this stacks up. Would it stand up well on its own or is a PS3 required to make it good? Any major flaws in this game (rules and mechanics)?
DJmizuhara said:I can't register my cards for online play...I'm only able to register 25 cards, 21 from the started pack and 4 from the booster pack. What am I doing wrong?
I got 29 cards in my starter pack, 9 in the booster pack and 1 in a separate clear plastic folder.
not hardcore, but this game is definitely different than most other traditional CCGs. Your goal isn't to "defeat" the other player. I mean you can (make it so they can't lay down any more cards) but most games will end with 5 spaces occupied by one player on the board. To win like that, it really is about placement and strategy used to secure placement There is some combat, but it usually involves either characters meant to cleanup the board or removing low hp trash from the field. Not much of the end game involves dukeing it out one on one.YYZ said:Any hardcore CCG fans care to compare this to other CCGs? I'm curious how this stacks up. bloodforge said:Best Buy is a good place to start, if you don't see it out on the shelves ask for it, they probably have it in the back. I was also able to find booster packs and theme decks at Gamestop.

I want this game for me and a friend. Do I need to buy him a booster pack, theme deck or what? Or will the game give us plenty of cards?
Dunno how that works.
chubigans said:So just one theme deck for the both of us, or is there one in the game already?
a ton? try 4. that's what my friend did and i think his deck is easily better than the starter deck.Ferrio said:You're going to need to buy a theme deck, or/and a ton of boosters and hopefully get lucky enough to make a decent deck.
Right, but you can take the individual cards that you want from that theme deck and incorporate them into the deck you play with, right? Or does your deck have to be all one theme?dfyb said:a theme deck may be more trouble than it's worth -- it's not ideal to have a focus on one element.
yeah if you want to spend $15 on one element, then i guess you should go for a theme deck. your deck can include cards from anywhere. i just wouldn't start with a theme deck if you have no cards. i would just buy boosters.Gary Whitta said:Right, but you can take the individual cards that you want from that theme deck and incorporate them into the deck you play with, right? the thing is, unless you're playing a special field configuration (i played an all earth game last night -_-), you want a balance of elements. you want to be able to utilize the entire field -- an army of fire creatures isn't going to be super useful because there's usually only two fire fields.
all units invisible? i think you must have gotten that in your booster. i have the starter and i do not believe i have a card like that. what's the card's name?Ferrio said:I think it matters what kinda cards you got, and what kinda cards they offer that give bonuses for same elements.. One that came in the starter makes all your units invisible if their of the same element. Having all your units on the board invisible would be a pain, more so than the extra health.

FabCam said:I wanted to get this today, but it was sold out everywhereIt is selling well or just understocked.
well sure, specialty decks should be worthwhile, but would you necessarily recommend someone who's buying their first cards go for a very specific specialty deck right off the bat?Ferrio said:Must of, either way my point stands. If the makers are any bit intelligent they'll be enough cards that give you reason to want to take up only one or two elements. Not saying it should be better than being super diverse, but just another strategy.
