hahaha...
I just realised you're serious.

to be perfectly honest, it sounds like you had a bad salvia trip.

for me, I found out that everything, the universe, time, space, reality itself is actually a simulation of a entity locked inside a reality prision, and for thoes 5 minutes, I dove inside the mind of that entity. and It was seeing reality through my own eyes. I became reality itself. everything that ever existed was simulated to keep me occupied.

Yes but couldn't one argue that the French Revolution was heavily influenced by the American Revolution?

Influenced, yes, but its still more tangential. Hell, the taxes and famine might have been caused by the French involvement in the American Revolution. Meanwhile, there is a bigass bold black line going from the French Revolution to World War I.

I think it's pretty much inevitable that the USA is to going to firewall or possibly even out and out segregate itself from the rest of the Internet.

That would be very ironic after the USSR, if it wasn't already.

At least EU politicians criticized SOPA/PIPA and said they should increase the availability of legal content instead. (the European commission still have that controversial 'save all the internet data' idea though)

There will never be anything other than minor skirmishes and phyrric victories..

That Internet connection you (and Anonymous) are using? - Part of a corporations infrastructure, provided to you for a profit.

Instead it will continue to be what it currently is, a War of Attrition and the losers will be those who enjoy the nets various freedoms.

The more damage Anonymous and it's like do on the net, the more ammunition they give those that control the infrastructure to reduce your freedom in usage of that infrastructure.

Once upon a time, not that long ago, if you could build something that flew you could fly it without a license or any restrictions, try doing that now and Barnstorming and see what happens to you. Accidents, collatoral damage and yes, profit ended all that and the same will gradually happen with the Internet if it becomes necessary.

Revolution porn and dreams of resetting the system are naive and frankly ridiculous, this isn't Fight Club, no one is going to bring the system down until the system is failing to keep the majority of people fed.

Guess what, revolutions need a critical mass of the population involved in order to succeed, and the vast majority of people out there really couldn't give a shit about online freedom, nor increasing restrictions on freedom, as acceptance of the need for some restriction have been a part of the progress of societies for millenia.

"Fortune is guiding our affairs better than we ourselves could have wished. Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or forty hulking giants? I intend to do battle with them and slay them. With their spoils we shall begin to be rich for this is a righteous war and the removal of so foul a brood from off the face of the earth is a service God will bless."

"What giants?" asked Sancho Panza.

"Those you see over there," replied his master, "with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."
"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but windmills. Those things that seem to be their arms are sails which, when they are whirled around by the wind, turn the millstone."

The thought of living through the first cyber war sounds way cooler than it'd actually be.

I'd imagine there would be plenty of peaks and valleys, so I'd have to agree. Sifting through code and building proxies would be for the schmoes, and then there would be only the silly political posturing to enjoy.

Gotta get me something better than a Macbook Pro to arm myself with, herp.

This is the next bill we need to start worrying about.

Not if we can make having the internet like having a gun in the USA. No one wants to fuck with gun rights, because it's political suicide.

We have to make attacking the internet political suicide.
