THE FLASH Reportedly Confirmed For "Batman Vs. Superman"

So they're basically doing the opposite of Marvel's slow build up of characters and instead just shoving them all into the same film immediately?

This is going to be a total and utter mess. Synder isn't good enough.

Batman has had countless films and series, and Wonder Woman doesn't exactly need an introduction, either.

That seems to be their approach, anyway.

WB won't be patient like Marvel was. They don't want to spend years and several movies building up a universe conducive for a JL movie. They want that Avengers money now.

We have no idea of how big or small the roles these characters are going to be. They simply can be cameos or be introduced at the end. This still a Man of Steel sequel centered on Superman. It's also likely to be a jumping off point for a number of characters to star in their own movie or to double up in other films.

The fact that these characters are being include likely means they know what they want to do with them next. They aren't hiring these actors for just this film but to additional films. Remember people were surprised that Batman/Superman was further along then originally thought. No reason to think other films and stories also aren't further along.

DC was always going to approach this differently then Marvel. They even had to due to the nature of their characters and the tone they were going to set. Let's not forget that Marvel's films in their second phase are including a lot of difference characters now and not just a single superhero. Captain America: Winter Soilder has Cap, Black Widow, and Falcon and who knows who else. That's still a Captain America film. No one is calling that Avengers 2.

You're being far too sensible.

Casting Justice League right now is actually pretty brilliant if WB is confident in the Man of Steel sequel.

Man of Steel had mixed reception thus DC's superhero "stock" is lower... correspondingly, they can contract for actors at a relatively lower price and risk. Then, if Man of Steel 2 does phenomenally, those actors are locked into their contracts.

If Man of Steel 2 does phenomenally and you try casting for Justice League afterwards, all of those actors' representation are going to hold the WB over a barrel and ask for a taste of that Avengers-expectation Justice League money. The risk on your film skyrockets as your budget for production sinks. Not to mention the possible conflicts if subsequent League members are getting higher paydays or better deals than the face of the League, Superman / Cavill (he's contracted for only two more films... if you spite him, he may never return for more films without an absurd premium... and he's not as readily recast as a cowled Bat).

So it makes sense to cast now, gambling on Man of Steel 2 to be successful.

Honestly if there's one guy who can juggle a lot of previously unestablished heroes it's Snydar judging by watchmen. Still expect Wonderwoman and Flash to play a minor role only, maybe even a post-credit scene.

So has Superman, yet they still bored us with his origin story again. This isn't Nolan's Batman, so I think they'll have to introduce this Batman somehow that makes some sense. As for WW, unless they're content with the "single female lawyer" image she has with the public, they'll need to give her an introduction that eliminates that.

Though if they really just go fuck it here's Batman and WW(and maybe Flash?), deal with it. Then maybe? lol

Marvel has everyone - fans, journalists, business execs, my dog - convinced that the only way to do a superhero team movie is the exact way they did it.

It's not. It's an ensemble piece; far from the first movie of its type. Shared universes are fun and all, but not a requirement nor indicator of quality.

If WB is this thirsty for a JLA movie, they should just find the balls they had before the writer's strike stopped the previous one, and make a fucking Justice League movie. I mean, fuck.

Actually, that's only among comic book nerds. It had a cinemascore of A-. That's a pretty good indication of how it's viewed than the hate it gets on gaf or random boards.

We already know that Frank Miller is playing a big influence on this, which sucks, but whatever. So, the government (with Lex Luthor somehow involved) calls on Superman for a favor. Batman's busting heads in Gotham, nobody's above the law, only Superman can stop him, and you know, Frank Miller stuff. They fight. It's a big Hollywood fight scene and both hold their own, but Superman ultimately wins of course. Either he captures Batman, or Batman is injured and has to retreat, it doesn't matter.

But eventually Superman has a conversation with Batman, who reveals his problem with Superman. He explains how Superman can be something better. Something that Batman could never be. He can be this symbol of hope that the world needs, but instead he's wasting his potential by doing this whole brute force thing. Batman becomes the next influential figure in Superman's life, completing the man who Jor-El and Jonathan Kent started him out to become. Have Batman say something like "You can knock down a building. Let's see you stop one from falling." Something that really hits home what Superman was missing in Man of Steel, and cements what Snyder has been saying about him not really being Superman yet.

So something bad happens, Lex Luthor is a dick. Superman and Batman team up and stop the bad things. They part on good terms. Montage of people watching news footage of the destruction. We see Superman helping rebuild, and partaking in some boyscout stuff. We see kids putting on capes. There's a voice-over from somebody important. Doesn't really matter who. Could be Batman, could be Jor-El, could be Lois, actually Lois probably makes the most sense, since she's a reporter or whatever. They start talking about how real heroes inspire people. We see the aftermath of some robbery or something, as the police get there to find all of the criminals apprehended. They're confused as we see a woman walk by into an alleyway, wearing a trenchcoat, the sleeve of which pulls of just enough to see the shimmer of a gauntlet on her wrist. Cut to a guy about to be shot by a mugger only to be pulled out of the way before the bullet hits him and the mugger to be knocked unconscious by a red blur.

Voice-over says something optimistic, with the last word being "Justice." Credits.

Boom. Feel free to call me Goyer.

They haven't even laid foundations down for these characters. Basically they're just going to dump them in there without any planning.

Holy fuck, this movie has the possibility of being the biggest mess ever. They could have casual references to other heroes, but just throwing them in could be disastrous.

If you're not the one writing Justice League I'll cry.

They've said this will be a seasoned Batman, and he had an origin story only a few years back.

Superman hadn't done an origin on film since 1978.

What if the Flash and WW work as Nick Fury in Ironman and Tony Stark in The Incredible Hulk?

Also it's not like WW or The Flash or Batman need an introduction. Thor, Ironman or Captain America, on the other hand, really did need an origin movie.

Between this and your ideas for The Flash, you've outstripped Goyer by a light year.

Damn that was good.

Im not worried at all by this news in fact I get excited, Snyder can direct a bunch of heroes, he made Watchmen for God sakes and that was incredible and IMO second best comicbook movie after MoS.

:D

Now we need a Martian Manhunter confirmation and we all set, Green Lantern maybe? meh.

I'm going to call it.

This movie will be the beginning of the end for the superhero genre. Namely it will be so bad that it actually hurts people's enthusiasm for Superheros. Similar to how Cuthroat Island killed interest in Pirates.

Yeah well now I don't need to see the movie.

Write the Justice League Movie sequel/followup now please! Can Martian Manhunter be in it?

That seems to be their approach, anyway.

Wonder Woman, who has never had a movie and hasn't even been seen seen in live action since the 70s, doesn't need an introduction?

WW and The Flash have been out of the spotlight for decades. Both characters could do with thier own movies, where they could be given characterisation. Just dumping them alongside Batman and Superman, two iconic characters would see them overshadowed IMO.

Wonder Woman, who has never had a movie and hasn't even been seen seen in live action since the 70s, doesn't need an introduction?
Eh. The fact that she's still as famous as she despite that kinda illustrates she would survive without a introduction.

Wow just a few days ago I thought of the same thing except the flash and wonder woman stuff. Fits right in with the world weary Batman approach there taking with the character he sees the hope Superman can bring that Batman can't.

This actually sounds good.

The final film will probably have nothing in common with it.
