OK, I appreciate all the pussy love in the replies (he IS an awesome cat), but for following all of the rules AND actually appearing to give a shit about the game...:lol

Day 1 winner: Borman
Please PM me your shipping info. Also, don't forget that you're in the hunt for the GRAND BONUS prize in 11 days or so!

On the 2nd day of Zedmas

I'm giving away Silent Hill for PS1:
207l26t.jpg

A terrific game in the day, really one of the few games that, in my opinion, can unhesitatingly be called art. AND, the game includes a yellow "PREOWNED" sticker from a late-1990's Electronics Boutique! That's probably worth more than the game itself!!!!!!

To win this: Pose a question for which the answer is, "Nintendo." I will choose the correct one. Don't forget to put [Zedmas] in your reply.

Full rules and explanation of this silly contest can be found here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24673771&postcount=14957

Activision! ...oh wait.

[Zedmas]
What company put out the Virtual Boy, a console that was a large contributing factor to me wearing glasses?

Don't put me in the running for the game, I already own it. I just like your contest idea for giving out games. :D

Wow, really? Did they have to be blue-tinted to counteract the effect?

Anyway, stay tuned, notworksafe, there may be something you want down the line...

I'm calling BS on this, while the Virtual boy did put stain on peoples eyes, it didn't cause anyone to need glasses, at least to my knowledge.

I never said it was the only reason, just a big one. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I played tons of Virtual Boy at 10 years old and also needed glasses before my 11th birthday. :D

It's a coincidence, nintendo would have been sued to hell and back if it damaged eyesight and I still use my virtualboy from time to time.

The contest says US only...does Canada count? :lol

Hmm...sorry, but no. I need to put a cap on all the shipping costs I'll be paying over the next couple of weeks :lol

If I do another single-item giveaway, though, I'll expand it to the Great White North.

Alrighty, here's the winner of Silent Hill...

Day 2 winner: Hamblasto
Hamblasto wins for having a question that taught me something I hadn't previously known. I don't know what the fuck I'm actually going to DO with that information, but I feel my horizons have been broadened somehow.

Please PM me your shipping info.

On the 3rd day of Zedmas

I'm giving away Vandal Hearts for PS1:
20atjx3.jpg

This is probably my favorite strategy-RPG of all time, or at least the one I had the most fun with. Certainly not as deep or complex as, say, Final Fantasy Tactics, but felt more focused, with an enjoyable plot, fun combat, and cool characters.

To win this: Admit a gaming-related belief or opinion that you once held dear, but now completely disavow. Don't forget to put [Zedmas] in your reply.

Previous Winners:

Day 1: Borman

[Zedmas]

I used to believe that Squaresoft was perfect, and could do no wrong. Of course as the years went by (post 32 bit era), I began to see I was wrong. Not so much as releasing bad games, just games that dont have the polish they used to.

Now everytime I see another entry or a new series created by Square, I just follow the news, instead of hyping myself beyond normal expectations.

[Zedmas]

I used to believe that Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was going to be THE Zelda killer. I even went so far as to say that to customers who came into the game store I was working in at the time...

[Zedmas]

I used to believe Sony can do no wrong, any competition would get squashed underneath it's shadow, later down the line I have become a humble gamer, who keeps his mind open..hopefully Sony follows suit and becomes humble =/

[Zedmas]
I used to think the Tomb Raider games just weren't for me, and that I wouldn't like them. Then I played Tomb Raider Anniversary, and the world of 3D platformers came into my world.

Made me really appreciate Mario Sunshine in particular.

[Zedmas]

I used to believe that Mario is Missing was a good game. I'm not too sure what I liked about the game as I guessed on every question, but between the ages of four and five, I beat it more than ten times.

[Zedmas]

I once thought Sonic Adventure for the DC was an awesome game. Then i decided to download the PSN version and found it to be a complete glitchfest. :lol

OK, great entries here, and I wasn't sure whether to go for most embarrassing revelation, or most redemptive, or what...I went with embarrassment.

Day 3 winner: Xeno_Flux2113
Congratulations, for admitting that you were one of THOSE game store employees...you've won Vandal Hearts!

Please PM me your shipping info.

On the 4th day of Zedmas

I'm giving away Kartia: The Word of Fate for PS1:
33dcygy.jpg

Can't say much about this one, as this was given to me a while back as part of a game trade, and I never got to it. But while it might not be one of Atlus' highest-regarded games, it's still Atlus, and PS1 is probably the only format you'll ever find it on...

To win this: Name your favorite licensed video game (as in game based on movie/TV show/etc.), and explain why. Don't forget to put [Zedmas] in your reply.

Previous Winners:

Day 1: Borman--Motor Toon Grand Prix
Day 2: Hamblasto--Silent Hill

[Zedmas]

I know that it's probably an anticipated answer, but Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's an all-around excellent game, not only for keeping the feel of the Batman franchise, but for also making the best super hero game ever made. It's very clever in its execution; it gets a lot of Batman mythos into a tight package, utilizing the heroes and villains in interesting ways. I especially like how The Riddler was inserted. On a related note, someone hilariously criticized Arkham Asylum versus Mario Kart Wii, questioning why anyone would want "slow Batman" over "fast karts." Literally, the only thing that disappointed me was seeing it end. It was such an awesome experience, filled with tense stealth scenes and entertaining action scenes (I'm a huge fan of games where you are tasked with picking off the enemies one-by-one), and as a cherry on top, it was free. It even kind of got me into comics recently, having purchased several older Batman comics at a local comic shoppe (among other series).

Plus, Mark Hamill plays what I consider the best rendition of The Joker I've ever experienced.

[Zedmas]

My favorite licensed video game would have to be Transformers: War for Cybertron. The idea of transforming robots with laser blasters sounds like a great game in itself, so i'm not sure why it took this long to actually make a game that does the franchise justice. War of Cybertron has it all, great shooting system, nice controls, easy to use transformed mode, co-op, multiplayer enemy wave battle modes, a story mode that allows you to play both sides of the conflict, and of course the most awesome thing: The original voice actor for Soundwave. Seriously, aside from Starscream and Optimus prime, Soundwave has the best voice for a robot. Ever.

Not to mention the end credits song is done by Stan Bush.

*zed cat*
Spiderman 2, the only good game based on a movie I have played. Why? First spiderman game where i could swing whereever I wanted in NYC. Loved that game

Sorry, but have to have a short turnaround on this one, as I'll be busy the rest of the day. FIRST OF ALL, -1000 points for everyone, as nobody chose the correct answer, Deep Space Nine for Sega Genesis. Fortunately for all of you, this isn't a points-based competition...

Day 4 winner: Teknoman
Tough decision, but I had to give you the edge since my wife is a huge Transformers nut. This game (along with Batman:AA) is on my "one of these days" list. There's just something sublime about when a licensed game gets it right, and most of what I've heard is that this game does that.

Please PM me your shipping info.

On the 5th day of Zedmas

I'm giving away D for PS1:
2qxaxde.jpg

Made by the Japanese "auteur" Kenji Eno, it's one of the more worthwhile FMV games on the system. I always had a weird soft spot for FMV games, like Mansion of Hidden Souls--hell, I'm weird enough to even like Sewer Shark!--and D is definitely a well-made, atmospheric one.

To win this: Post a screenshot that represents a seminal moment in your gaming life, and explain why. Don't forget to put [Zedmas] in your reply.

Previous Winners:

The Legend of Zelda

The first screen. Four places to go. An infinite world of possibilities. At the young age of 9, all I knew was that the ultimate adventure awaited me.

Angels sing and no words are necessary. RPG's become my favorite genre and Pokemon becomes my favorite video game series.

A Pokemaniac is born.

12-021.jpg

Used to play games with my mom and dad when I was a kid. I would watch my dad play through the Silent Hill series and Tomb Raider while my mom sat on the couch with a strategy guide handy in case my dad got stuck. Was a lot of fun staying up late after my little sisters went to sleep to watch him play even though the games straight up terrified me as a child.
This was on of the last games I played with my dad (no he's not dead, we just got older) but whenever we reminisce about the Silent Hill series this scene is always mentioned...and every time it's someones birthday my dad says "Haapppeee Birthdayy" in the same creepy voice.

Back to Zedmas!

Don't input the code into the xbox.com redeem code page, it hasn't been working for me lately.

Instead I've had to go into my 360's 'Redeem Code' Menu and do it manually for codes to work...

Nice entries, everyone, but there can only be one winner...

Day 5 winner: sn00zer
Love how you share Silent Hill references with your dad; extremely cool. My own dad's cultural touchstones were, oh, 50 years or so older than my own--although we did share a love of Seinfeld...

Please PM me your shipping info.

On the 6th day of Zedmas

I'm giving away Grim Fandango for the PC:
21kcdpd.jpg

No cardboard box--not sure if I bought this in a box or if it was CD-only. In any case, I bought it on its critical reputation, but soon realized that this genre just wasn't for me. It's undeniably an extremely well-made game, though, essential for fans of the glory days of LucasArts and Tim Schafer.

To win this: Similar to an earlier day, please pose a gaming-related question for which the most appropriate answer is "Sony". Don't forget to put [Zedmas] in your reply.

There may be a longer (1+ day) turnaround on this one, as I'm planning to send out the first batch of winners' prizes tomorrow, and I'm already getting confused as to who gets what :lol Even Zed the cat needs a break from time to time.

Previous Winners:

Day 1: Borman--Motor Toon Grand Prix
Day 2: Hamblasto--Silent Hill
Day 3: Xeno_Flux2113--Vandal Hearts
Day 4: Teknoman--Kartia: The Word of Fate
Day 5: sn00zer--D
