The GAF's most wanted 2012 title

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright is my most anticipated game, assuming it comes out next year. After that it'd be Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle. I'm sure at least one of those will come out next year.

I still berieve
I have faith this will be a launch title or launch window game for Wii U.
Most anticipated for 2012 are:
Unannounced Wii U games
Luigi's Manison 2
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
The Last Story (EU)
Pandora's Tower (EU)

Of the titles I already know of, The Last Guardian. However, I am sure something will be announced which will change my mind on that.

Hmm, I don't think there's anything announced that I plan on buying immediately. Maybe Sly 4 if it turns out well. I'm interested in The Last Guardian, Versus, StarHawk, Ni No Kuni, KH3D, Paper Mario, and stuff. But none of them scream Day 1. I'll probably spend most of 2012 catching up with 2011 titles.

I have no idea why people are saying games that aren't even announced yet are they're most anticipated. Especially Wii U launch games of all things.

Ico is the best game ever made, The Last Guardian is Ico 2, so it should be winning.

Other honourable mentions go to Kim Swift's forgettably named puzzle game, Dishonored, Prey 2, Ni no Kuni, GTA5, and BioShock Infinite. Who knows, maybe Lord Nomura will graces us with Versus XIII. I imagine Japan will get it next year and us 2013, but there's always hope.

EDIT: I forgot about The Witness, should be amazing.

Borderlands 2 and Bioshock are pretty close.

Bioshock: Infinite's promises are becoming near-Molyneuxian(I get a $1 if you guys use that), but Levine has me hooked. I believe him.

Borderlands 2 is Borderlands 2.

Ahem*. Zone of the Mother fucking enders 3! You hear me Kojima!? You hear me!? Z.O.E 3!!!

That said, Tales of Graces F.

Far too little Bayonetta 2 in here. Tsk tsk.

It's not really. People don't know exactly what to expect from a new IP, and they turn out badly more often than not. It's much more logical to look forward to the continuation of something you liked than to get hyped over an unknown quantity that's far more likely to disappoint.

I'm shocked at all the Starhawks in this thread.

From what I played of it, it just seemed so...generic. Though I'm not completely writing it off as I only played one match, but still, it seemed to get away from what made Warhawk fun and unique. Starhawk seemed like it wanted to be Gears.

Anyway, my pic is a toss-up between The Last Guardian and Halo 4.

It's not really that interesting, it's a sequel driven industry and these are known quantities. If you could go back 20 years, the list of most-wanted 1992 games would largely be dominated by sequels like Contra 3, Star Control 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Zelda 3, Thunder Force 4, Streets of Rage 2, Dune 2, TMNT4, Double Dragon 4, Final Fantasy 2, Super Mario Land 2, etc. There'd be a Lost Vikings or an Alone in the Dark cite here and there, but it would mostly be sequels.

After reading this thread, I'd have to say that my most wanted 2012 title is still unannounced. The only one that I'm anticipating is Mass Effect 3, but I'm not exactly frothing with demand for it.

WAIT - almost forgot about Risen 2. A quality open world RPG with pirates, sounds like a goddamn winner to me.

Mass Effect 3 and its not even close. I can't ask for more than the conclusion to my favorite gaming series of all time. I'm already getting ready for my marathon gaming sessions of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and then Mass Effect 3 :)

Halo 4 and Bioshock Infinite are on the list too

The Last Guardian. And Starhawk after that. To be honest I don't really know what's due for release next year. Only pinched those cos I saw someone else mention them.

By 2012 I hope I've broken my self imposed game purchasing exile.

Not only did Gears invent the cover system, it also invented transforming airplane mechs, space combat, jet-packs and real-time base construction.

Only one for now, and it's DD:

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown! Brushing up with its predecessor in the meantime.
