I barely played the 2nd one, only did a bit of the beginning. For some reason it didn't really grab me. First one I did everything including DLC trophies. Idk, I want t go back to it, but never have the time lol. Kind of surprised too see it on this list, wasn't it not as well recieved as the first ? Whats the general consensus?

I think it's similar to Ragnarok. It refines everything and does it better, but for the most part, you feel you've already done this before, so it doesn't feel as special.

I think Horizon is a decent franchise, but if I am going to be honest I am not a big fan of the universe. I don't like the fact that the game takes place on Earth and I really do not like Aloy. I found her very boring and uninteresting and that is the biggest issue with me with that game. The world is just not as interesting to me. I think if she had a different visual design and if the game was more fantasy and less involving earth as the place then I would be a lot more intrigued. Its a good game to play through once. It's also very visually impressive and is a technical marvel in its own for sure. .But that's it really. At least that's how I felt about the first one. I'll eventually finish the 2nd. If Sony announced a 3rd right now I would not really care, rather have them use resources for something else.

GOTY awards aren't about videogame's qualities but rather their popularity, hence why you see a walking-sim/tech-demo being nominated.

Cool people know where to look for cool videogames. Those thinking a GOTY is the best game period are just very narrow minded.

Horizon is kind of a mess. Surprised it made the final cut. Everything else seems appropriate. God of War: Ragnarok is a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be, but Elden Ring is my GoTY.

LoL @ Nibellion. Jesus. The nominations list is so weak it hurts. No Signalis. No difference in rpg games(strategy etc.), most of the same overlap between nominees and genres like action game, action adventure lol. Still the laughable inclusion of esports like its something special and mainstream, much less a real sport is ridiculous. A vast swathe of VN's also completely overlooked like they don't exist.

Stray was nice litlie indie game and thats all, shouldnt be in the list. Plauge has awsome graphics at some moments (and in others avarage) and kinda interesting story with emotional ending but very rough gameplay, not best pace and repetition - I wouldnt ever put it on list for best game of the year even tough it was good enough to finish it. Nominating Elden Ring in best narrative category must be some kind of trolling/joke.

The platforming actually reminded me exactly of Uncharted. Aim in general direction of ledge and press A and the game does it for you. I like Uncharted though so it wasn't an issue for me.
