THE GAME AWARDS: 2022 Nomination Announced

Well God of War Ragnarok is a snore party.
Elden Ring is just a rehash of Dark Souls.
that leaves Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Stray
of those 2 Stray should win ... because you play as a cat and not another freaking boring human.
there said it.

I'm sure GoW is amazing like the 2018 game. But Horizon 2 flat out sucks imho. Way too bloated, abysmal story and dialogue. If it's one of 2022's best, that's pretty sad for the industry 😆

Neon White, Vampire Survivors, Stranger in Paradise, Mario + Rabbids 2, Splatoon 3, Triangle Strategy, Citizen Sleeper, Immortality, Tunic, Sifu, Nobody Saves the World, GT7, The Last of Us Remake, Disc Room, Bayonetta 3, probably a dozen other games.

And the timing of the awards are stupid as well. Skipping Pentiment, Somerville, High on Life and more.
Also didn't Vampire Survivors 1.0 miss the cutoff too?

Awful music. New age crap CD you buy on gas stations to do Yoga at home. There's only Celine Dion missing.

Stray was great.

I heard Bayo 3 ran like shit on the Switch (reviewers)
Yes, a great walking simulator that has no place against real games in a serious contest, you have to thank the fact that dorito boy can't make a serious contest to save his life if this shit happen.

There are different categories for a reason.

Man Bayonetta 3 got snubbed in the Soundtrack category

It's cute how they've thrown in a switch game just so it doesn't feel left out lol

Haven't played it but it is one of the best reviewed games of the year. It's not like they just nominated it to have a Nintendo game too.

Fantastic game and arguably the greatest technical feat on the Switch.

Yep. And of the 6 games listed for GOTY, it's only behind GOWR in terms of quality, features, and production value.
I would argue that production values are higher than ragnarock, bigger world, more complicated enemies to make and way more characters to render (and voice) with high details.

Not sure what you mean with features.

Graphics belong in the xbox 360 era would be my guess why it isnt nominated.
And? They do what they can with a shitty tablet, the game run badly because their ambition is bigger than the hardware they had to work with.

Dragon dogma ran like shit on console release (especially on ps3 if i remember well) and people still rip their hairs off about that game.

Botw had single digit framerate in some occassions and even after patches you better start praying if a thunderstorm is coming or if you burn too much grass.

I'm the first one who troll that fucking tablet but the value of a game should not be related to his performances, bayo 3 is hardly unplayable.

Elden ring was a stutter fest for a fuckload of people, and yet...

Everybody knows the only two games that deserve the title GOTY are Elden Ring and/or God of War Ragnarok. If you like them or not, they are masterpieces on their own and miles ahead of everything that has been released this year. The Game Awards were always in a ridiculous state but if they give their award to any other game then they will once again prove why awards shows for any medium are just giant circuses full of clowns.

GOW - 'God'

On the other hand, I don't think Elden Ring brings anything new to the table. It mostly has the same combat and mechanics as the 2005 Demon's Souls.
The way you explore in Elden is unlike anything I've seen in any game ever. Nothing I've seen has been more intuitive.

I think we can all agree that the game awards should be the following year in January. The only cut off date should be December 31. It's stupid that they even have a early November cutt off date.

God of war seems to close to the awards to be a nominee. I think giving a little distance helps with the perspective. Getting past the initial freshness and hype gives a more clear view.
Ragnarok is freaking amazing it deserves to be there 100%

I've been playing it since July, and I have more hours in this game than the metacritic score. It's a wonderful JRPG and definitely worthy of inclusion here regardless of who made it or what system it released on.

Lmao why are people fighting over who gets a place amongst the nominees? Who gives a shit when everybody knows thats its only between 2 games on that list. If only we actually had all 6 games competing for the award. The others need to step up.

Played all 6 of these, Horizon Forbidden West is the only one I didn't finish, Vampire Survivors was robbed, didn't get a nomination for indie game of the year despite being GOTY material.
Swap Horizon and Stray for Cult of Lamb and Vampire survivor. Vampire survivor isn't just an outlier either. It's a genuine goty candidate.

There is a baseline of acceptability for it to be nominated as goty. Every aspect needs to be at least more than adequate, that includes graphics and perf. Even Botw had appealing minimalist look. You want to be the best game of the year of 2022 and yet Bayo 3 could have been released in 2012 and still would have look dated.

Botw looked like a low res galore shit, bayo 3 at least has kinda detailed characters and the animation work is on another planet compared to botw.

Really not sure how botw get a pass but not bayo 3 tbh, at least the latter aim to 60 fps, botw can't even aim to 30 rock solid (even now).

Biased towards Elden Ring. Never played Rag, but will when it eventually comes to PC. Currently playing GoW on PC on Give Me God of War difficulty. :messenger_ok: Game is legit. Some of the best graphics on PC, period. imo.
