The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

What I like most about this quick look is how none of them want to be there doing it.
I imagine Ryan nagging Jeff to do it because it would be a funny video and then, during recording, realised what a terrible thing he had done.
 
I get the feeling that these doax games are like really bad versions of those Japanese 3d porn games but without a happy ending. At least you get some pleasure out of those. I'd wager.

I am 90% sure the endurance run will start on monday, i want it to be up earlier but i am a realist.

That's exactly it.

Somewhere along the line, the series crossed from slightly suggestive fanservice to softcore porn/hardcore sexism. It's pretty embarrassing, to be honest.
 
I don't understand the whole, "Yo that game is mad creepy," thing. The game looks absolutely stupid, bad, and just boring as fuck, and the boobs physics are really dumb, but what's so creepy about it?

Really stupid game. Yeah. Creepy? Not really.

Think of the market this is aimed towards. The type of person who will actually buy this game isn't doing it for the dull gameplay.

You take pictures of and develop relationships with computer women, sounds pretty creepy to me. Also, some people actually enjoy this kind of game and that is the creepiest part of all.

Don't forget that the women are practically naked, and their boobs act like they're filled with helium.
 
In all fairness I think the appeal of DoA Xtreme is beyond gawking males, the only person on my friends list that still plays it is thoroughly gay. However the quick look was great, especially liked how Jeff was so focused on picking Christy.
 
Wow that's the first video I've watched of Tested.com, those guys are going to be a great compliment to GiantBomb, very funny duo.

They made the expected jokes, but I think they were actually disgusted by the idea of DoA PSP as a product. It kinda of made the review a downer.

It implies the game is aimed at deviants - the kind of guys that probably consider buying a Real Doll. (Google that at your own risk)

Because, let's face it, here - if a normal person wants to see boobs? There are a hundred million other better, more direct venues for that kind of content, used by a wide array of mentally healthy individuals.

So why would you buy something like Dead or Alive Paradise? Either because you're 14 years old and you somehow got the game without your parents knowing about it, or because you're obsessed and very lonely.

You also have to take in to account the voyeuristic aspects of the "game", where you are basically playing the role of an observer watching ladies make suggestive (but never blatantly sexual) poses. The Giantbomb guys even touch on it in the Quicklook, about how sometimes you are quite literally in the position of "some guy hiding in the bushes". A peeping tom, in other words.

Its creepy because it draws attention to the fact that those people exist.

The whole game is about perving on women. Some of the camera angels are even in bushes like you're spying on them.

YAY! I'd imagine that being a bitch to set up, and it would have been much easier to do in this first place. I'm guessing you'll be able to integrate accounts if you have already set up one on another WM site.
 
Funny his reaction to the game after playing a half hour or so was exactly the same as mine, and it's sad to say that the more you play and understand the game, the less you like it, and the more it just seems flat out broken.
 
Charlotte looked awful. It's strange, because one of the big reasons to play Samurai Showdown was the characters and animations. They were just really well done, each one unique. Now they all look bland and dark.
 
Watching the Tested iPad livestream made me understand exactly why those guys are so eager to get out of there for some better internet...the Marvel stuff especially was crazy slow.

I just watched this for the first time (I mean the "best moments". I watched the ER as it happened) and goddamn, i've forgotten about some of these awesome moments. I'm even more excited in the deadly premonition one now... :D
 
Oh Man. The new QOTW is terrible, only the last video was alright. With the DP endurance run coming I hope they stop doing the QOTW.

I would but it'd probably just make me want to play P4 again and I'm not sure I'm ready to drop another 60+ hrs into that game. Love it, just such a time sink.

Anyone out there can just make DVDs themselves. I have all the ER eps already downloaded and converted to MP4 for easy playback on my PS3. Takes about 43.5 gigs though, so that's a lot of DVDs to burn if you're not going dual-layer - which is why it probably wouldn't be feasible to mass-produce and sell.
