Yeah, that Matrix Online QL was hilarious. I love those guys :lol

Does anyone else feel that GB has really nailed the whole "video game review/information website" format? GB has a great sense of community, and doesn't seem to take itself to seriously but still provides quality up to date news and great gameplay footage.

I think the Quick Looks are probably their best innovation. They're entertaining and provide a look at exactly what you are getting with the game without any filter of a reviewers opinion or anything like that.

Yeah. I like the fact they're entirely unscripted.

I love Quick Looks too. Sometimes they give misinformation about games though and it can be kind of annoying. Most of the time, they are great for entertainment.

Seriously though, what was up with the voice acting for the comander? Like everyone else seemed to be able to speak fluidly but he was just talking like Max Headroom or something.

The Matrix Online looks a little better now that he's out of "Get me some chopper keys" section, but the combat just doesn't look interesting or challenging at all. Plus, the world is so empty and all those doors of nothing but empty rooms would piss me off so much.

Because what's he says is composed of small parts recorded seperately.

Otherwise they'd have to record a multitude of lines like "3 enemies at 12 o'clock!".

I still think it's very immersion-breaking though.

At least do what football games do, and patch in the required part

for instance they could of had a line that said "Three enemies at twelve o clock" and just replaced the "3" as opposed to every freaking word.

The shit on that Matrix Online forum totally deserves a dramatic reading / heroes of the web treatment.

This makes two of us. I normally don't mind MST3K-like commentaries... but coming right now when the game is shutting down, is like having some anNOYing teenagers burst into the hospital room of a dying loved one, as you're sitting there trying to comfort them or just be with them during their last days, and said teenagers make rude comments about your loved one. I can't bring myself to watch it, so I'm just going to take everyone's words for it.

That was painful to watch.
Maybe the crew should spend a few minutes learning the controls and mechanics a bit more before recording. However that might get rid of some of the laughs. I'm thinking maybe Ryan thought he still knew the controls better than he actually did.
Anyone who's remotely a fan of worms will still appreciate the quick look, but I can see new comers getting turned off. Personally I don't remember the controls being very cumbersome, but I can see new comers thinking they might be after that display:lol

Oh god, the whine is incredible.

there was one guy on those forums who had like an a - z list of shit he pulled out of his ass that was making him cry and i couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy. taking both the game and the videos too seriously is pretty fucking sad.

TANG: Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
I saw the ending bit of this cinematic masterpiece on TV recently, couldn't believe my eyes.

Also, fantastic ad:

Haha, wow. They have no idea how to play. :lol Should have spent some more time with it and read up on it, cause they're totally wrong about tons of stuff too.

2. I understand its extremely simmy, but the guy should go over the game a few times before doing a quick look. It was giving him help on how to play, like night vision, but he was ignoring it.

You guys should stop posting this shit. If you want a perfect gameplay video go to youtube or see some official trailer or whatever. Quick Looks are better this way.

this is why its not in the review section.

its the same as what you would see if you just picked it up and started playing

if you dont like it dont watch them

Gilgamesh said:
Really? Watching some guys play poorly and give you misinformation is better for taking a look at the game?

Understandable if you watch the quicklooks strictly for information. I watch them for entertainment and get a feel for how the game looks and plays, not for detailed info.

Kinda wish they'd explained some of the gauges and numbers flying around in the Dissidia video, that game still makes zero sense to me. Hopefully the video review will break it down

That's the reason I watch them too, but this one was pretty bad. They should at least know what the buttons do before they turn it on. (Them not knowing triangle makes you run up walls was really annoying.) The information is just fluff I usually don't care about, but come on, they think Onion Knight is a girl? The video wasn't even that funny or entertaining regardless, either.

I had high hopes for a Dissidia quick look but they weren't met in the slightest.

Maybe they are doing all their events early since you know.....

You should keep reading though there are some amazing quotes in that thread. Man I wish heroes of the web was still around.

See, I see quick looks as... they're as informed as I would be if this was my first or second time booting a game up. If the game has not explicitly told them how to do something or they haven't played it long enough to figured it out yet, then it's not really their fault.

And I like that. It's something different besides the usual... ultra-controlled, ultra-safe demos most developers give of their game.

I suppose it sucks for super skill-based games where you look like a jackass at first, but that's the game's fault.

Yeah, and this is why I like their quick looks more than actual game reviews these days. I could read a very in depth analysis on a game and all the qualities of it, but it's far better to just watch a crash course of like the first twenty minutes of it. At least I find it a far more interesting way to build my perception of a game early on. Also helps that they're always funny as shit, too.

What's great, is they completely acknowledge in the videos that they have no idea what they're doing, and yet so many of those posts are people being angry at how they don't know what they're doing. :lol

Haha, wow the posts on that Matrix Online forum were hilarious. It's kinda sad that they're taking the QLs so seriously! :lol

And, of course, Brad dies.
Whoa, spoiler that. :lol

As for the Worms 2 argument... Quick Looks work better as a cold take. They are essentially a video of someone's first impression of a game.
