This is pretty nitpicky, but I gotta say, I really hate the font they're using in that Dead Space 2 multiplayer. Bad readability and it looks cheap. Stark contrast to the clean looking digital font used in the rest of the UI.

Thats not nitpicky at all, thats a fucking fundamental visual design problem.

The font was probably picked by some designer who looks at the game on a 30 inch PC monitor from 2 feet away all day.

Ryan asks if the AI is competent in DS2 Multiplayer just as an AI is ripping a player to shreds. Neither of them noticed :lol

This is why you can't just look at # stars/stars. If you read the review you can see that this game just sucks and most people wont get a kick out of the random jokes they put in there. Game just looks terrible and I would rather watch some Louis CK if I wanted to laugh than have to sit through boring gameplay.
I was seriously baffled by Jeff's score. He stated time after time again that the game part of the game kinda sucks. And it shows in the video. The humor is alright but it seems too thinly spread to justify the price of admission and having to grind yourself through the yawn inducing gameplay.

From what he was saying on the Bombcast alot of the humour is in the FMVs and stuff, which I guess they intentionally didn't show in the QL to avoid spoiling them.

I actually don't think the gameplay looks that bad, yet to try the game myself though, downloading the trial just now.

yeah i was thinkning that when they had the QL before - it was powerful unfunny to the point that the 'humour' was a negative, and the game part looked lame.

also please dont compare this to louie

I was just saying if I wanted to laugh I would watch him. I don't want to play a boring game with some laughs.

He purposely avoided showing a lot of the parts he found really funny so not to spoil anyone.

To be fair, he melee'd 4 guys to death really easily. would not be possible in Gears.

Oh, there is a clean version of the Pressure Cooker music in there - without them singing over it - I will now grab it as my ringtone. Thanks Giant Bomb!!!!
Oh god, can you send it to me? That beat is pretty rockin' :D

It's kind of strange the way they shit on some things but then with garbage like quantum theory are bizarrely generous. Everything in that ql looked awful from the graphics to the gameplay.

I'm sure they've been far more critical of much better games, even ones that are relevant to their interests. I guess maybe it's just a pure white Jeff tendency this week.

I mean they dumped hard on demons souls, something with no real competitors this gen and some really cool new ideas, and yet this generic shit gets a free pass? Maybe it's so insipid it's potentially forgivable as not even being worth having an opinion on either way, but it seems a bit lame..

I don't remember them dumping on Demon's Souls. They simply made out that the experience wasn't for them.

Jeff hated on Demon's Souls from the very beginning.
Dave said he wanted to play it.
Vinny is always open to everything. Can't remember how he felt towards the end.

But that's not how GAF remembers it. It was the topic for 200 posts. ;-)

I dunno I just remember Jeff being very critical of the graphics, the ui, the gameplay, and then saying that the hardcore rpgness was cool but not for him.

The graphics in quantum theory are fucking awful :lol

I seem to remember them also really finding Deathspank very funny, which led me to try the demo. The humour was really not all that great, I thought, and as time went by, the GB opinion seemed to realize that.

If they still find it funny in three weeks, I may give it a try.

Noooo no no no no no no no. Jeff, who I think is the only person in the office who played the Deathspank games, thought the humor was terrible and not very funny at all, and is very vocal of it.

Brad also talked about it on the podcast and was less critical of the humor.

You're right--I stand corrected. Brad was the one who didn't seem to mind the ca-RAZY humour, but it began to thin out for him towards the end.

They really need to pull the plug on Game Room. What an embarassment this experiment has been.

I don't know why Jeff just doesn't play the trials for them each week, you get to play 10 minutes for free iirc.

That would ruin the fun of it. The fact he's paying for it is what is making it better.

It's hard to remember that Hydrophobia is a $15 arcade release, though. Expectations and standards IMO have to be lowered a bit. That doesn't mean it isn't a terrible game though. It looks like the devs bit off way more than they could chew. You can't play this and not compare it to Uncharted or Prince of Persia or Enslaved, and when you compare them, this is godawful.

I think that the reason Jeff still does it is because he thinks "Well I've come this far, all my money and time would have been wasted if I don't see it to the end".
