Do you really even need to ask? Just look at him.

I don't care about people's weight, I really don't. But if you are going to be professional, at least put on a clean shirt. Being overweight does not mean you're a slob as well.

He is probably just sweating his ass off again.

I thought that as well. Gave him the benefit of the doubt. Then I skipped a half hour later, and the stain is in the exact same position. No evaporation whatsoever.

Maybe I'm making a big deal, but I like Ryan and the GB crew. But there should be some professionalism, ie. A clean shirt.

They do sometimes walk the line between "Fun, irreverent, personality based gaming website" and "a video camera inside a college frat house."

They filmed this the same day as the happy hour, no stain during it.

In his defense it could have been a clean shirt that had a previous grease stain. If you dont deal with certain stains immediately it wont come out in the wash without some extra attention. I found using some dish detergent on the stain works wonders before throwing it in the laundry.

You're making a huge deal out of nothing, it's a video game website, it's not like they are handling your stocks or answering to you. Don't want to see his stained shirt? Don't look at the quick look.

WHY DID I WATCH THE YAKUZA 4 QUICK LOOK?! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I thought the same thing. But then again, if I did a quick look of every dudebro shooter that they played, I would be the same way.

"Oh great, another linear hallway where I have to shoot guys in the head?"

I enjoyed their look at Yakuza 3.

It was mostly Jeff bitching about orphans... which he managed to bring up in this quick look as well.

The implication was more than this one. A lot more variety was shown, though it isn't entirely their fault or the game's that 4's was a bit of a drag.

Eh, the quick look format is a whole lot better with some preparation. Like for example sometimes they will bring out multiple saves.

I think the worst prepared a Quick Look has ever been was the one Kessler did of Etrian Odyssey 3. He tried to go on and do something but forgot that he needed to complete some quest in a dungeon he had already mostly cleared. So he spent like 20 minutes wandering around an already-beaten dungeon fighting random battles, looking for the one area that he missed, while Ryan gave him shit the whole time. Then at the very end he finally got the ship (ocean exploration being the main new feature of the game)... and didn't have any supplies so he had to turn back after about three spaces.

Then Ryan mentioned it was Kessler's birthday and made fun of him and the QL ended.

A Yakuza 4 endurance run would be perfect because it has the same cognitive dissonance that existed in Persona and Deadly Premonition. If they played it on easy, they could also probably get through it without doing any of the sidequests either and boil down the 40 hour experience to like 15.

Even if that was true (and judging by the previous ERs it takes GB longer than average to finish games) who has time to watch guys play a game for 15 hours? The thought that some GB fans actually watched the previous ERs in their entirety is bizarre. Why'd anyone in this thread even want GB to do another?

Watching other guys waste dozens of hours on a game is exponentially more nerdy/loser-like than a typical geek who'd probably spend less time actually playing through it himself. It also doesn't help that the previous ER games they chose look like shit; kind of like how Yakuza looks so maybe that would fit in perfectly.

Also gross sweaty fat guys are one of the reasons I never attend video game expos, so I agree it would be nice if GB kept themselves presentable when doing a kinect/move QL.

That's gotta be one of the most slowest things i have ever seen, by the end i was pretty much done like Jeff, they spent more time watching cutscenes than playing the game! Thankfully the story and the world seems great i just hope there's a great payoff behind the brutal pace.

that's just one of the slower scenes. it's like any TV drama, they build the up characters and the pay off is great. loving Y4 so far. kinda wish Ryan showed some of the later parts of the game instead. he was still in tutorial mode.

Holy shit guys, this post. Everything about this post is just so.... wow.

He has 3 posts and they're all in this thread. Probably someone's alt account or something.

Best part was saying Persona 4 "looks like shit". Well done.

If you try hard enough, you can actually watch them at your leisure instead of back to back. It tends to alleviate the problem.

Oh, that's fantastic. This animation is the single best thing about Deadly Premonition.

Ohhh, yeah, York. Always Be Humping.

why were they not absolutely trashing kinect and yoostar 2 during that quick look?

that was horrible in every aspect, not to mention they even mentioned same game could be played on ps3 with an eyetoy.

oh, forgot...it's ryan davis

It's too bad, because certainly Persona 4 starts with the same 3 hours of doing nothing before it gets "good", yet they'll never give this game a chance.

Isn't Ryan already playing it? Also the first chapter is paced better than the second one. If not only a little more so.

Jeff said that he really wants to play it after this but probably won't find time.

Though yeah, whenever a Quick Look of the beginning of a game is somewhat slow and people are going "ugh this game is clearly terrible," I always point to Persona 4 and how the first two hours are literally pressing X before you get to the first fight. And then another one to two hours before you're given the ability to choose how to spend your days.

There was some dude in one GB thread on here who was totally in denial of that. There was a QL of some game where it was clearly in tutorial/training wheels mode for all the fights in the first hour or so and he was tearing on it, and when someone brought up P4 (which he loved), he was like "oh no way, P4 was waaay faster paced than this!" like that's even a humanly possible thing.

I'm assuming that's the last time anyone in the GB offices will play the game anyway.

Did he? Well, certainly it'd be better than anything else that he could possibly playing at the moment.

The ultimate tragedy, of course, is that at the end of the year when they have their silly GOTY debate and best RPG comes up, it will come down to Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 and maybe LA Noire and no one in that room will even mention Y4.

P4 really has the most excruciating opening if you're impatient. The only plus is that most of the lines are voiced, so you don't get those awkward moments of silence stitched in between cutscenes like you do in Y4.

Posting a differing opinion in reply to a previous message is considered trolling here? I thought this forum was a hang out for gamers, not veterans of the Gestapo or KGB.

If anyone's trolling it's people making suggestions for Endurance Runs since this topic is titled "The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread", which are the exact opposite of ERs.

To the person who accused me of being an alt account I'd like to ask why you assume anyone here is a no-lifer who'd waste time doing something that pointless? I know some of you people have multiple posts per day and thousands of posts total, but I don't spend that much time on forums. Additionally I've only posted in this topic because it's the only one I've seen that I'm interested in discussing, crazy huh?

Now back on topic

I'd rather have GB avoid 'trashing' anything during QLs since that behavior is more like what I expect from the 'nerd pretending to be angry while whining about video games' genre of youtube videos than from professional game media websites. I really can't think of anything that sort of thing adds to a QL besides a frat boy level of amatuer 'comedy'. Also there's the little thing with the GB guys often being completely wrong when they complain during QLs about normal games, and these games use more complex tech, which is another reason they're better off playing it safe instead of coming up with off-the-cuff insults to appease console fanboys like you seem to be.

Calling people losers, comparing people to the fucking KGB, calling three games "shit", and then trying to act as if that's some kind of opinion instead of baseless slander is all you've done this page. Perhaps you shouldn't be such a shit poster; maybe people wouldn't act aggressively towards you if you stopped trying to fucking ruin this thread.

Trying to call people out as "fanboys" doesn't really help you, either.

The best aspect of hrtdy098u7's posts is the aura of "I'm no nerd, I refuse to watch someone else play a game and just so you know, I don't waste much of my time posting on nerdy things as video game message boards". Yet here s/he is getting all riled up about the most miniscule things, acting like the worst type of nerd.
