I'm quite excited for the CT ER. I got quite far into the game, but never finished it. Maybe this will give me fresh impetus.

I was pretty disappointed in this years crop of Kinect QL's but the black eyed pea's experience was pretty amazing and more then made up for the other boring games.

Never.

I don't think this thing will really ever evolve beyond casual bullshit. At least not this genration.

There are Kinect games that are not "casual". But those games are more invovled and take longer to make. Plus, the dance and sports stuff sells better too, sadly. Things like Your Shape are really well made though and need to be seperated from titles like motion sports.
I don't like that if a bad game shows up that utilizes Kinect everyone goes "haha Kinect, can't do simple stuff" - but it gets completely ignored if something like Child of Eden with actual tight controls shows up.

The problem with Kinect is, the people that buy it are looking precisely for games like Kinect Sports, Fruit Ninja and Dance Central.

They are not looking for games like Rise of Nightmares or Child of Eden. I doubt software sales even justify making core games. I expect Steel Battalion to flop just like Fable (maybe even Ryse, if it's Kinect-only). Hell, i bet a lot of the core games being released on XBLA (Haunt, Diabolical Pitch, Draco) will flop too.

(I'm not even adressing the fact devs keep attempting to have controller mechanics on Kinect, which is another issue altogether)

Yeah there is Child of Eden but is it really a better experience with Kinect? Does it even need Kinect? That is not what I think off when I think beyond the casual game space. Rise of Nightmare is also a terrible example because it sucks.

A game like Rise is only interesting with Kinect. Like playing House of the Dead without a gun, without Kinect, Rise of Nightmares is pointless.

Child of Eden is a weird case, because people that like Rez think CoE is better with the controller, while lots of people prefer it with Kinect and wouln't even consider playing it with the controller.

In my opininon, yes. It is a better experience with Kinect. Aaanyway, really offtopic now :)

The more I see of The Black Eyed Peas Experience, the more it seems like a pretty decent game. If I did not hate the band, I think I would like it. You can even see small Ouendan touches in there

Power Up Heroes actually looked like an interesting idea. Maybe Ubi should have gone all in and actually make a deep game with the combat mechanics. Is it XBLA or Retail?

The kinect sensor really doesn't like Ryan does it, not sure if it's loose fitting clothes or body shape but it doesn't seem to register his actions properly. Only noticed this during the marathon

I've had issues with loose pants with it (it had trouble locating the knees), so maybe?

Power Up Heroes was also a study in how two different players could make the game look completely different.

Yeah. I wasn't feelin' it when it was Ryan playing because there was so much time between attacks, but when Jeff got up there and actually started trying to combo things together in rapid succession, it started to look kind of cool.

That has to be the dullest and most ugly multiplayer map ever made. Also the game looks terrible :/ Does it play better than it looks? I remember Serious Sam being fun, cartoon'ish and just pure gameplay.

It's super fun, challenging and the shooting feels great. I would put this QL in the "game mis-presented" camp.
