The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

The intro is nothing compared to the finale.

Just seeing hte game in action, it just doesn't seem to be fun, the control scheme seems much more frustrating than even I first thought.

That Venice Beach level was horrid...there were hardly any rails to grind, barely any people, nearly nothing to ramp off of...I guess because if they added too many things players would just bump into it all the time. :\

Kind of a dull quick look aside from the OP and ED. They need a segment where they can rip on bad games, since the QL isn't really the place for it. That Darkest of Days Quick Look was one of the funniest things I've seen on Giant Bomb (and it actually got me to put it in my goozex queue. 700 points! Still waiting for a trade, though...)

I hoped they would pick it up and see if they could play it better with their hands or on a table or something (which is fully expect one can). :lol

judging from all the sighs from Jeff, it's the game's fault. :)

Ehh judging from the way those guys play character action games, I'm gonna guess they probably aren't too big on player-intent in a skateboarding game. I love planning a trick or run and then executing it; I'm bummed out in Skate when I want to do a regular kickflip and then mess up and do a varial flip instead. RIDE is probably not the game for me.

Nice, ending says everything you need to know in one sense. Love the blue-screen moments GB occasionally do.

Showed a bunch of my non-Giantbombing friends the NSMBWii quick look and they loved it, good work guys.

I really want to see someone playing THR on hardcore. I can just imagine how that would look like.

Great Quick Look as always, especially the ending. :lol

Jeff seemed to be a huge fan of the Skate games when he did the Skate 2 quick look. At least, he was willing to put up with more frustration in Skate 2 than I was, and I absolutely loved the first one.I kind of get the feeling here that he's genuinely disappointed with the fall of the Tony Hawk series. Maybe I'm way off though.

Well, he probably is. The games got less and less awesome. That while they were really awesome back in the days. So if he wouldn't be disappointed, that would be rather surprising. Same could be said for any gamer who played this franchise over all these years.

I guess I'm stating the obvious.

Ending was epic. Too bad for the game though. The worst thing is you go through all this trouble of having a board that you can't do actual skate moves on, aside from tilt and ollie, so tilt and ollie does everything. Give me a controller instead... oh wait, you still need to have one to navigate the menus. Double lame.

Seriously? :lol

It's an adventure game. I'm sure Telltale would rather not put achievements in at all, but it's a requirement. They can only give achievements for linear game completion anyway, so why not throw in stupid things like that?

same here

Man, I used to be the BIGGEST whore for Tony Hawk games in the whole world... this quick look is pretty painful to watch. Game is so fucking awful looking.

the new Tony Hawk looked depressing. it's just a shell of what it used to be.

I have so many good memories back from THPS2 and 3, hell, I even have some really good memories of American Wasteland. :(

Screw American Wasteland, the DS version "Sk8land" was a thousand times better.

AW wasn't that great, but it was the first THPS I'd played in years, so it really scratched an itch for me. I liked some of the things they tried with the open-world structure, although if I played it again now I might hate it. It's probably just rose-coloured glasses.
