GAF's definition of "hipster" means someone who doesn't wear sweat pants and XXL pre-order shirts in public. So, yes, I am a hipster. What kind of question is that?

Actually, this quick look reminded me how a lot of folks tend to look at games. A game is either awesome, or it's total crap. There's rarely an in between, and the idea of simply enjoying something goes out the window right away. Is Jackie Chan funny? Hell yes it is! But we were looking at it to make fun of it? Nope. It's an obscure, totally ridiculous fighting game that is actually very enjoyable and a lot of folks on SRK are having fun with it. We were more or less looking at it to find what's funny about it.

I really wish we could look at bizarre retro games more often without people automatically assuming its to make fun of them because they suck. I'm all about the appreciation of games, but I don't think many others are.

tl;dr: Video games don't have to be serious business 24/7.

i got the impression they do actually enjoy playing and exploring old fighting games that have decent mechanics, and this one happens to be pretty neat to play. kind of like videogame archeology. i think thats pretty cool.

Its light hearted, but I don't think its sarcasm. People seem to actually like the game, which makes sense, since its actually pretty damn fun if you play with the right people.

I think that only applies to fighters because of the ageless mechanics that some of them have (and some plataformers). Back in the day, we used to play all these fighters without knowing what the hell was going on and basically playing them like if it was another "Street Fighter". Now that we have much more knowledge than when we were kids it's amazing to go back and find all the crazy mechanics some of these had.

Breakers Revenge was it for me. Played it like another SF when I was young but a few years ago I was able to play it again and was amazed of how crazy that game was. I still play it today because it's so fucking awesome.

I remember playing some Power Ranger game for the snes and that game was pretty crazy too.

Bravo. I have always enjoyed indie games for the same reason.

True. I remember growing up, everyone hated Primal Rage and though it was total garbage. Now that I'm older and more "seasoned," I see that even though its still fairly crummy, it's actually very advanced in terms of gameplay. It plays way more like Tekken than any Street Fighter game, and that's why I get all excited when I play these weird, older games.

And hell yes on Breakers Revenge! It actually has a really good scene on GGPO, so if you ever want to play it with folks, its really easy to find.
 
Anybody who has dreams of moving to LA and becoming a famous actor needs to take a look at the chick in Dont B Nervous Talking 2 Girls. That's what you end up doing.
 
Pretty lite on the QLs this week - what was the one they mentioned in the podcast? Stress Release on Wiiware? I hope that goes up this weekend

I also hope they are prepping for the biggest GOTY blowout ever. I'm talking 6 hour podcast where they wear down Brad's resistance until he agreeds to whatever the other 3 say. You gave in too easily last year Brad, stay strong!!

What's Brad's GOTY last year? I remember he had an odd choice. Was it Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got that reference. I doubt most people watching have any idea what he was talking about.

They did a disservice to Miner Dig Deep there, and also didn't even play some of the better/high rated games, so felt like bit of a waste.
