Why? really now does anything about the footage released for AvP look anything like this?

Developer makes two really, really, and I man really shitty games in a row. You think their third game will strike gold?

I couldn't watch it because there was too much swearing (it got in the way of what they were actually trying to say) and I found the use of "cocksucker" to be disconcerting.

Rebellions a massive company that's bought alot development teams over the years. They're not far from being publisher sized.

I'd never even heard of rogue warrior until 2 or 3 days ago, whereas it's quite obvious they're sinking alot of development time and dollars in AvP.

Will it be gold? i dunno, but from the footage and trailers the game is shaping up to be awesome.

is that story about vinny bashing someone (dave?) over the head with a keyboard (?) because he came in upstairs to develop the site drunk at night and vinny thought he was a burglar true?! :lol :lol :lol i hope so

Rebellions is big group yes , big game developer ? no

they own cards game company , comics , magazine and books publishers and other crap , but when you talk about "video games" , they only own one studio ( Rebellion Developments ) and that studios make shitty games lately ( Shellshock 2: Blood Trails ,The Simpsons Game , Miami Vice ,Rogue Warrior ..ect ) .

and no , SEGA is the one who paying money( to Rebellion ) for the new AvP.

that rogue game could of been absolutely genius if they had actually done stuff like the single player credits/achievements for getting an achievement in multiplayer on purpose.

inappropriate voice clips for actions (like shooting a fuse box and then calling it a cocksucker), bad animation, ridiculous over the top acting, a rap thats actually worse than the one at the end of modern warfare 1, its all there. such a shame they didnt bring it all together into something transcendental, could have been the greatest work of art of our age.

First of all, I have no idea where that crazy apostrophe came from in my last post. Just sort of snuck in without my approval. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Second, I read this on the Rogue Warrior wikipedia page, which makes it oh so much better.

The game was originally being developed by Zombie Studios, who was in early development stages of the game. Soon after, Bethesda stated that they weren't satisfied with the direction Zombie Studios was taking the game. Bethesda quickly scrapped the project and brought in Rebellion Development to develop an entire new game from scratch. Rebellion, while retaining some major elements from Zombie's rendition, has taken a whole new approach to the game and its focus.

So, they fuckin saw this piece of shit game, and they said fuck that. We need some real fuckers in here to make this fuckin thing. After Rebellion got their fuck on with it, Bethesda said fuckin aye right, let's fuck some fucks up. In theory, there could have been a fucking worse version of this game floating the fuck around out there. Fucking awesome.

Jame's Cameron's Avatar: The Game

It's a long one (42:01). Unfortunately not nearly as much cursing as last night's QL. It is, though, dripping with Jeff's disdain for the movie.

Man, did anybody else feel bad for Vinny while watching that? It was like each time he tried to talk, he was cut off by Jeff or Ryan, :lol. Sounded like he was trying to stick up for the game a bit, lol.

I did, especially because none of their complaints seemed to have anything to do with the game, only the source material. The game itself doesn't look horrible at all, and unfortunately I didn't come away with any better idea as to whether it is worth playing.

Even if the movie is horrible, it looks bad because it appears to have the generic, bland sort of plot you'd find in a video game. Taking it as a game alone and not part of the grand hype machine surrounding the movie, there are games that have far worse setups and stories than this does.

That movie looks garbage. I don't care who's making it. The CGI and real actors don't mesh well at all. It looks like a CGI equivalent of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Plus the design of the blue cat people is silly. How is anyone supposed to take this seriously when it looks like something a furry on DeviantArt came up with?

Plus Michelle Rodriguez is in it playing the same bitchy, manly soldier/cop she always plays in everything she's in.

The game looks okay for a licensed game. It would probably be kind of fun if you smoked some Fire Weed and turned on the 3D.

The problem I was seeing with the Avatar game was the MMO style mission structure. I’m not a fan of “collect 7 charges” or “bring back 5 coils” or whatever.

plus the shooting for the human weapons seemed pretty sloppy.

Yeah it's pretty bad. I tried the PC demo and all you do is run around draining life-bars, there's no feel to it at all.

As for the movie... I don't really care. I'll probably see it sometime but it's not really on my radar. Seems to me like it's just Pocahontas in space.

The only Avatar Jeff gives a shit about is the last airbender, mostly because of the easy 1000/1000. :lol

Cameron's Avatar looks like it could go either way.

I think Giantbomb's Quicklooks offer more insight into a given game than any video reviews I've ever seen from IGN, Gametrailers, etc.

It's a nice thought, you'd be wrong though, the majority of the time they don't really give a fair idea of the game. They are however thoroughly entertaining more often than not.

It's not what they're saying. It's how they just play and play, which gives you a chance to make up your own mind.

Without buzzwords and PR bullet points I find it hard to understand.

Kinda ironic that Ryan thought that Avatar's human military was "Halo," when Halo's military and technology style was based off of the military in Aliens... a James Cameron film. :lol

I don't get the hate for Avatar. It's made by a director who turned seemingly generic story lines into some of the best movies to date.

This is kind of what I've been wrestling with, too. Everybody keeps busting out all of these knee jerk reactions about how awful it looks.

It's like, dude. James Cameron. Terminator? The Abyss? Aliens? True Lies? Those are some damn good movies. Okay, so, yeah, Titanic was a bit overblown and I can't speak for any of his IMAX documentaries, but still. Dude can make a movie.

Everybody keeps pretending like James Cameron is suddenly George Lucas and I'm not really seeing how that connection is being made outside of the fact Avatar features hells of CGI.

The game doesn't especially look terrible, either.

It doesn't help that he's pumping it up as the "biggest movie of all time!!!" and slapping his name 40 feet high on every single ad you see for it. And the fact that the trailers look like its generic sentient blue alien vs. generic human marine faction. Throw in that you can probably see or figure out every plot twist just from watching the trailers and what used to be interest for me, has turned into total apathy. I think it'll be commercially successful, because it is from James Cameron, but biggest movie of all time? Not even close.

So at the point where he has to decide whether to shoot the blue guy or the human, does that choice actually effect how you play the rest of the game? Or does it just change a morality meter somewhere?

At least some of GAF has come to their senses about how awful Avatar looks.

I've only met ONE person in real life that seems to think the movie could be decent, but I'm convinced that the "OH GOD, BEST MOVIE EVER!" hyperbole is a purely unique phenomenon that appears only in the OT here. I have no idea how anyone in their right mind could be so goddamn hyped for James Cameron's Space Pocahontas.

Also, despite costing about a thousand times more money, I'm still more impressed with the CG work in District 9 than I am with Avatar.

Same to both, and the one person I know who thinks this movie will be awesome is my friend's dad (who we know is a furry).

:lol

I'm willing to give Avatar a chance, but I've never understood the hype behind it either.

I laughed so hard when Jeff saw the guy say "noob" and just went "Wup! I hate this game!"

And yeah, I tried to understand how the plot makes any sense and still don't get it. The blue dudes hate humans and try to kill them... unless the humans dress up as blue dudes? Then they're cool with them? I just don't... get it

It's Dances with Wolves or that shitty Star Trek episode where Kirk loses his memory. Replace "Blue dudes" with "Native Americans".
