The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

I keep waiting for a Trauma Center game to have a cameo appearance by teenage patients look like they've been shot by a tank and/or frozen.

"Have you kids been Buf-"
"Just keep this quiet and we'll pay you with like a hundred thousand yen we found laying around."

I've always been afraid of the Trauma Centre games because I don't handle blood and TV operations too well, but that quick look was great. Definitely piqued my interest.

So you're to blame for the artstyle of the surgeries slowly transforming over each game from "realistic" to "someone spilled crystals over Picasso's innards."

:lol No need though, one of the nurses' sounded exactly like Yukiko anyway.

The one girl (an EMT) is spunky and wears green jackets and has short hair.
Her best friend (an endoscopist) is shy and Japanese and has long black hair and wears kimonos and wants to live up to her family's expectations.

I knew it, the second I heard that voice I thought it was Yukiko! I always wonder how the GB guys never notice when a Persona 4 VA pops up in a quick look (Rise in FF: Crystal Bearers).

And damn it, GB is costing me a fortune with all these quick looks, another game I had no interest in has gone to the top of my list (partially due to Yukiko's VA, but eh!).

Disappointed Vinny never said "Aha! Is this our chance!?" at the reaction shots. Are those "tumors" really Shadows?

And yeah, Vinny going hog wild with the sutures was cracking me up. I'd rather die than let Dr. Caravella operate on me. :lol

So is this game's story a continuation of the previous games?
Are the older games worth checking out or am I better of waiting for this one?

Halfway through the video. Come on now, that girl assisting you has a green and yellow jacket, short haircut, her name is Tomoe (Chie's persona), could they have made it any more blatently obvious without going for a full blown Chie cameo?

Edit: The patient is called Charlie as well?!?!?

It's supposed to be a totally new story.

And all the games are great.

Two things to note about the Wii titles:
-Second Opinion is a Wii remake of the first (DS) game. It adds a new mini-storyline that ties into the rest of the main game, as well as an extra final chapter, and some of the main story surgeries have been totally changed. These new operations introduce mechanics like the defibrillator and bone surgery that come up in the rest of the series but were absent in the first game.

-New Blood is separate storyline from Under The Knife 1/Second Opinion/UTK2, with some cameos. It introduced co-op, but unfortunately the difficulty seems to balanced in favor of that, making single-player more difficult than it should be (and the series can already be pretty hard).

Even though some would say Dr. Caravellas suturing tatics were "different" you'll note he commanded a healthy amount of Cools and Goods from them, better than I can say for Dr. Davis and his bandage skills.

To be fair, it's not as if Charlie is some uncommon name. Now if it his last name had something related to fish in it, then we'd be talking!

I can't wait for this game. I've kind of been getting sick of Trauma Center since Second Opinion (New Blood was ridiculously hard to the point that my friends and I barely beat it in co-op on easy and I haven't even tried UtK2), but this looks awesome.

Great, thanks
Guess I'll go look around and see if I can get Second Opinion cheap.

Persona 4? In my Trauma Team? Fuck yeah, Atlus. :lol

Tomoe's the endoscopist; the EMT's Maria. Close, though.

Well, I'm gonna sorta miss the stuff they took out, like stopping time and using magic healing energy through the power of Asclepius (the Greek god of medicine), and artificially engineered blade-bugs, moving tumors, and heart-eyeballs created as bioterrorist viruses.

At least the forensics part involves hearing voices from the dead before you go on a point-and-click adventure to solve crimes, and the diagnostics missions give you a robot sidekick.

And yet its Yukiko's voice actress who is voicing Maria "Mexican Chie" Torres.

Keeping with the Persona comparisons, am I the only one who thought that this guy:

Looks kinda like Dojima with more hair?

"Let this disease pass from the world..."
Huh, I didn't realize that a giant steel beam pierced through the abdomen qualified as a disease.

"Tell me that's not Nolan North!"

aside from the improvement on the lightning system I don't see anything different than the PS2 games , clearly it's the same old engine , most of the animations , characters models are lifted directly out from the PS2 games , I understand that they can sell shit tons without any serious upgrades but this is kinda lame to me.
:lol No, just no.

Wouldn't it have been easier to pull out the steel beam in the other direction? :lol I mean, they had to pull it all through the body when there was only like 10 centimeters sticking out on the side we saw. Just saying :)

don't question the doctors, doctor!

Man, they made Trauma Center look really fun. I was gonna pass on it but now I'm reconsidering. Just checked the price on Amazon and it's $39 with a $10 gift card preorder bonus. Tempting.

The Yukiko looking doctor is totally voiced by Rise. This is like Bizzaro Persona 4.
No she's not. Tomoe is voiced by Stephanie Sheh, who did Metis in P3 FES along with 30 other rich/timid/shy anime heroines.

Gabriel Cunningham -- ??
Hank Freebird -- ??
Naomi Kimishima -- Kirsten Potter
Maria Torres -- Amanda Wynn-Lee
CR-S01 -- Nolan North
Tomoe Tachibana -- Stephanie Sheh

Does anyone know who is playing Gabriel Cunningham (older smoking doctor from the quicklook)? His voice sounds really familar but I just can't place it.

Really? Totally sounded like Laura Bailey from what I could hear, which wasn't much with Ryan and Vinny talking but I guess you're right.
