Whenever they do a next endurance run I think they should use these person combinations:
-Dave and Vinny-
-Jeff and Ryan-
-Brad all alone-

I don't know, I love the Brad and Ryan combo right now.
I'm not sure watching Brad be Brad by himself would be as much fun as watching someone get angry at him for being Brad.

I think it would work out well. We'll get one episode where he gets frustrated... and then he quits!

Dave and Mike, PC gamers extraordinaire, play through preeminent console dating-sim/RPG hybrid Sakura Wars. Make it happen Giantbomb!

huh , I always pronounce Ubi as You-Pee , I refuse to pronounce it like Obi Wan , fuck this french shit.

you pee forever Ubi :(
What? They said Obisoft? Wouldn't it be You-Bee-Soft? That's the only version I've heard before.

difficult to write french pronunciation in English phonetics. 'U' doesn't sound like 'you'.

It's my understanding the name Ubisoft comes from "ubiquitous software", so that's how I've been pronouncing it. In fact I think I learned that from a Bombcast forever ago

Ugh. The definition of shovelware right there.

yup , it's clearly a shitware trying to sell itself just on the stupid overhyped 3D gimmick

and I really can't believe that this piece of garbage is $30.

Eh, judging from their Overkill QL from the same duo they don't really like onrail shooters

EDIT- Though watching this, it doesn't help this game looks pretty bad :lol
Wait they didn't like HOTD Overkill, what the flying fuck is fucking wrong with those motherfuckers. God be my witness, I have shown respect, charm, under-fucking-standing, but that is the last fucking straw.

Not only that, but for a game so simple they managed to play it completely wrong. You know how you're supposed to, like, actually aim your shots and keep building your multiplier and stuff?

They were just BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG "well I think we've seen all there is to see about House of the Dead Overkill". Just one of those bad quick looks where they think they know everything there is to know about a game (or just don't care) and so they don't show what the game is actually like. they didn't even finish a level.

It's maybe the most infuriating quick look ever.

The worst part about this was they clearly knew nothing about the game. I believe it was Jeff who said something along the lines of "I thought the grindhouse stuff was clever marketing, I didn't know it was going to be for the whole game"

Also Jeff starts bitching about "remember when people said the Wii remote could replace lightguns but it doesn't because you have to keep the cursor on the screen?"

YOU CAN CALIBRATE IT AND USE IT WITHOUT THE CURSOR YOU DUMMY! ON MOST WII LIGHTGUN GAMES, EVEN!

Just... terrible in every way.

Thats the whole point of the quick looks they keep on reiterating it, they go in blind on games, as if you saw the game on a shelf in Game and said hmm wonder what thats about. The onyl Quick Looks they don't go in 'blind' so to speak is the Quick Look EX and Quick Look Roadshow.

That's not true. Most of the time the person playing will say they're an hour or two into the game, or they will at least have played long enough to get past the tutorial.

I mean, what is the point of a quick look? To show what the game actually plays like. You could at least glance at a manual for 5 minutes before the recording starts if you're not going to play it first. Heck, even that terrible Attack of the Movies game from today had more preparation going into it than the House of the Dead quick look.

Seriously, watch the beginnings of a bunch of quick looks. They rarely actually go in completely blind. Except on games they have decided not to care about.

Recently, and maybe going pretty far back I honestly can't recall, there's often been at least one person on the team who has spent a little bit of time getting familiar with the game, which makes for a much better quick look than the ones where it is just them putting the game in for the first time. It gives it more of a "friend showing a game off to someone" vibe, provides a better idea of what the gameplay is like once you get the hang of the systems, and is more enjoyable to watch. The Overkill one was pretty early on, though, and they probably wouldn't have given it a much better video if they spent an hour beforehand anyway.

Edit: What that guy said.

It depends on the game, depends on what content they are goign to publish during a week, embargoes, etc.

Still though I would prefer it if they went blind on every game going in, it gives me a far better impression of a game - whether its a buy, buy later, rent or avod. And really how many people honestly still read manuals for games as we have tutorials. I agree get past the tutorial section of the game, and then start recording though.

I meant in conjuction with Htown's "where they think they know everything there is to know about a game" line.

Also I'm with Hugbot in preferring the "Friend showing a friend a game he's been playing" vibe. The player having some experience with the game while the onlooker is fairly blind provides a pretty good balance imo.

For the most part, I think they do recon on games so that they: a.)won't spoil stuff b.)will show interesting stuff and not just boring tutorials and c.) and not suck too badly as it's hard to talk and play at the same time. That's why I think a lot of the times they mention that they're replaying a section they've already played.

You see Brad dealing with Point C a lot. Watch the RDR Quick Look, he gets all nervous saying that the bounty is something that he hasn't done before.

I'm also fairly certain that the Quick Looks where they go in blind are games that they're certain they're not going to like, and they're just showing them to make fun of them.

Yeah you could tell in the RDR quick look he had a very specific objective for the QL and that was to get to Armadillo, but Vinny was egging him on and it really threw him off.

First ModNation Racers Quick Look they did with the developers turned me off slightly, but the new one with all the content people have made turned me back on, damn you.
