How far did they get level-wise before capturing this? Considering the game feels a lot better combat wise once you've gained several levels to unlock moves, as well as upgraded stats by buying stuff, this may be a game that doesn't quite work for a quick look if starting from scratch.hamchan said:Quick Look: Scott Pilgrim vs The World

randomlyrossy said:I really hate watching some people play games like this. They play it in a really boring manner and then complain that it's repetitive.
I don't know about anybody else but when I play a game like this I go out of my way to mix up the actions I do to make it more fun and interesting. I mean that's why you have different ways to deal with enemies in the first place.
That being said, having no real knowledge of Scott Pilgrim (or River City Ransom) other than the movie trailers I think this looks pretty cool. And yeah the Giant Bomb guys always seem to have a problem with games that reference stuff. They can geek out all about old arcade games but then something like Scott Pilgrim comes along and the become whiny bitches.

Keep in mind that Jeff/Ryan both wrote-off Arkham Asylum prior to release as just another licensed game. Their reservations were likely justified, but they were still vocally dismissive of it.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Giant Bomb crew, but it does sometimes seem as if their opinions of games are cemented prior to playing/reviewing them. This is somewhat understandable though I suppose, as they are privy to pre-release demos and previews. Still, they should not let their preconceptions paint their evaluation/coverage of the final product.

Yup. Still the only other gaming site I frequently visit besides GAF.Curufinwe said:We just have to accept that three of the four Giant Bomb guys are prone to being grouchy old whiners who ignore facts or just make stuff up to justify positions they hold solely due to personal prejudices.
Still love 'em.

Pretty much this.
I understand this is just a quick look, but its still represents somewhat biased coverage.
I love GB, but playing a co-op brawler by yourself on the easiest difficulty is a guaranteed bore.hamchan said:Quick Look: Scott Pilgrim vs The World

If that was easy, I'd hate to see the harder ones. Some of those guys took way too long to take down. I think that's my problem with a lot of brawlers is the fodder enemies overstay their welcome. Castle Crashers was actually pretty good in avoiding that.Zabka said:I love GB, but playing a co-op brawler by yourself on the easiest difficulty is a guaranteed bore.

I heard it´s a trying-too-hard-with-videogame-reference comic thingy.Lunchbox said:whats scott pilgram? why is that dudes name suddenly on everywhere and even on giantbomb

Scott Pilgrim isn't really a "video game comic" It is a love story with a lot of references to games and things like that.panda21 said:the only thing worse than video game movies - video game comics
