Interesting... Jeff said the game is 6ish hours where everyone else is saying just over 4.

I just read the review and he talked a lot about reloading a bunch of checkpoints a dozen times due to AI wonkiness.

it's possible he might be taking that into account and exaggerating the SP length because of it.

Well, I have no interest in this game. I vastly preferred the MoH: Airborne style over the trite garbage we saw in CoD, this looks like a huge disappointment (apart from the sliding stuff!).

Oh well.

By the way, what did Jeff think of the heavily scripted missions in GTA4 (which were all much worse than what he showed here) back when he played that? Or the invisible walls in CoD4/5/6/whatever number they're on?

Jeff loves cod, 5/5 for black ops no doubt. I think gta was early enough in this generation and had so much else to offer he could look past that

Has the Modern Warfare games really invisible walls? They're more like real walls. And, as indicated in the QL, invisible walls is more of a thing of the past as most modern games hide them pretty well.

Indeed, the lack of quality in MOH's smoke-and-mirrors effects (Invincible plot device enemies, invisible walls) seemed to be a big problem for the single-player in that quick look. The invincible enemy seemed the most blatant, especially since that enemy is visible and in firing range before you start the attack, there are far better ways they could have handled that plot device (e.g. stick a crouching lookout enemy on the above ridge who throws the bottle at the fire when the attack begins).

It's quite hilarious to see the chasm in difficulty between the actual HS questions in the FMVs and the ones Ubi made up. Ubi's questions are all so simple, they could be solved by someone in Elementary School, while the actual HS questions make you think a bit. It's like looking at a paper with parts plagiarized by a student; the plagiarized parts sound completely different than the student's parts.

Oooh... Is Ryan ranting?

I'll be honest. I loved Sonic 3D Blast on the genesis... but this game. I tried the demo and well ::sigh::

I was going to post an angry rant in the offical thread, in the PSN store thread, and anywhere else I could but now I just want to forget this ever happened. Delete the demo from my hard drive, no more media, no more threads. This never happened

That said I will watch the QL for a good Ryan rant

Ryan's not in it.

EDIT: Though I will say some Sonic fans might be put off by some things Brad says.
Sonic was just holding right and pressing A at the right moment! So this game is pretty accurate to that!

RAGE! Jeff said that in the bombcast yesterday. Did they even play the genes......

Its not worth it anymore. Too depressed :( Last night I just handed the controller to my daughter and just sat there dumbfounded at the demo I just tried. Some may call that child abuse but I just didn't care anymore

@7:20 Jeff gets the shoe power-up. The music starts to play and my face is like "o_0?!" The shoe music is supposed to be peppy and fast paced, not this crap. Then jeff EXACTLY says whats on my mind.

Thank you Jeff for reading my mind.

Yes, bolded.

Isn't that what Sonic always has been tho? I've always been a Sega Kid, but Sonic never clicked with me. Sure, there's alternate pathways, but the game main appeal is speed.
Speed does not allow for path searching.

Sure, you can just play the game slow paced. But what fun is in that?

I've never "gotten" the Sonic games. Never liked them (played mostly Sonic 2 and never really went past course 3 or whatever).

I'm like Jeff. It's great that they made this, but it's not for me.

That is the way Sonic has always been for 99% of people. There is a very small, hardcore Sonic contingent that found that the old Sonic games could be played in a faster, speedrunny and more satisfying fashion that highlighted some great level design that was probably unintentional. *ducks and covers*

Sonic 4 is a huge disapointment btw. Sonic franchise is officially irredeemable in my eyes, this was the last shot they had.

Sad to say, but I agree with this.

Sega's been given one too many chances to restart that franchise.

The only way I could see a decent Sonic game coming out at this point is if another developer takes the reigns. The next Sonic game should be made by Criterion. :lol

Your reference point for a Sonic game is 3D Blast on Genesis?

I... I'm so sorry.

I loved the other 2D Genesis and Gameboy ones too, my point was that I have a pretty high tolerance level for bad sonic games

This *thing* is something even I can't stand

Do people still hold any hope for Sonic at all? I mean, I loved playing Sonic when I was a kid, but that sort of game doesn't hold any interest for me anymore. It's a franchise that, in my eyes, had a strong start, good couple of games, but is now, for all intents and purposes, dead.

Sonic hasn't been good in forever if you're looking for the type of game sonic used to be. That shit has flushed away ages ago. If you're into the Rush and Advanced games this might be cool, but I think a lot of the people whining about how shitty sonic is need to just deal with it.gif and stop caring. That's not what it is anymore. It's about speed and holding right.
