The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

I have to say, I like how they did the DA2 quick look a lot. I hope they do that more often for certain games where the PC version is just as important as the console version in terms of number of potential players, maybe Crysis 2 would also be a good option.
 
I'm very conflicted about the game. On one hand, it looks awesome, it has a very nice presentation, lots of characters and additional content.

On the other hand, it's still MK gameplay, which sucks so bad...

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and buy it anyways, but I don't think I'll be playing it after the first month (I hope the game proves me wrong).

I think they just didn't like doing 15 quick looks for DA:O
 
Am I the only one who has no interest in Mortal Kombat at all and will be glad when this game finally comes out and they spend a month talking about it and then we won't have to listen to them talking about Mortal Kombat again for a while?

I mean the game looks really nice and all but I'm fearing that this game will become Starcraft II: The Sequel, now with both Brad and Jeff as an unstoppable force that not even Ryan will be able to manage.

I definitely understand why someone with no interest would get annoyed by their constant MK coverage. But someone with no interest should also definitely understand why it's so important to someone like Jeff.

I just got to the most important part of any RPG where Vinny tests the fidelity of the underwear model.

that entire QL shows off a more interesting quest than the demo bits. still gonna wait for a Steam sale but at least now I've seen something that was more interesting to give me some hope.
 
Watching Jeff and Brad play MK there, I think I finally "get it". I get why this MK is probably going to be kind of awesome. It looks a lot more like a respectable fighting game with tactics and strategy instead of "everything's crazy and kind of janky but it's over the top and stupid but fun!" being the game's whole gimmick.

Then again, watching Brad and Jeff play Mortal Kombat has always been sort of fascinating in a way I could never understand.

I'll probably end up getting MK when it's on for $30. I enjoy it, but it's a little too Dial-A-Combo for me. I like to be a little more free-form, SF-style.

Also, I wish I had Vinny on my Steam/XBL friends lists, as he seems a really fun person to play multiplayer games with.
 
Ugh! I have bought too many awesome games based off Giantbomb QLs and I need to stop before it makes a poor man out of me :/ lol

I can't wait til they do the QL on the 3DS, Okamiden, SOCOM 4, Alice and LA Noir i.e. the next few games I plan on getting :)

Speaking of this: did you watch the QL for Majesty 2? It's on sale for $4 on Steam. If you have a halfway-decent PC, you owe it to yourself to buy it--or, at least, watch the QL first. Dave is in it, and he makes it amazing right off the bat.

The best part about the MK quicklook is that Jeff and Brad are at similar skill levels

Some of the other fighting games quicklooks that they have done aren't as good because Jeff just dominates the match

Game looks good, makes me want to pick up MK vs DC since thats got to be pretty cheap now
 
Brad's still gonna have to practice more. I think he only won a few matches.

I'm absolutely awful at fighting games but, man, watching that MK QL was great fun.
 
The new Mortal Kombat looks like an awesome achievement.

The amount of things the game has packed in is amazing. The character deterioration and the fact that everybody's internals are properly mapped and rendered is so, so awesome.

Too bad I don't like Mortal Kombat that much. :(

It was great watching Brad and Jeff play it out tho. Like others have said, I can't wait for MK's TNT.

I really liked the first one and it looks like they're doing enough to make the second one new and still awesome.

I have had a geomod shaped hole in my heart since the multiplayer for Guerrilla died and Bad Company 2 is the closest I have come to recapturing that since then, but it doesn't have jetpacks and thermobaric rocket launchers. Hiding in a building? No problem!
 
That Armageddon QL reminds me how much fun I had in Guerilla outside of the campaign. Now they've ditched the open world thing I might enjoy the campaign more as well.

Removing the open world sounds dumb to me, not sure the destruction is going to play very well if you're underground a lot.

Seeing them use the infinite-ammo magnet gun directly on aliens to toss them around the level is making me cautiously optimistic. As long as they don't do something horrible like make aliens resistant to magnets (although you know they will for at least the giant aliens we've seen) then it'll almost be like carrying around HL2's super gravity gun all the time.

Still wish someone else was handling this so we could get another superior open world game though.

Yep, definitely. Don't get why they did away with half the personality of the game.
 
I think RFA looks pretty cool, its a shame abut it not being an open world anymore.
Maybe they just didn't want to make 2 open world games simultaneously? Saints row 3 is still coming out this year right?
