Seeing them use the infinite-ammo magnet gun directly on aliens to toss them around the level is making me cautiously optimistic. As long as they don't do something horrible like make aliens resistant to magnets (although you know they will for at least the giant aliens we've seen) then it'll almost be like carrying around HL2's super gravity gun all the time.

Still wish someone else was handling this so we could get another superior open world game though.

enemies resistant to cool shit would suck

that's what made Psi-Ops pissy toward the end

The open world of Red Faction Guerrilla was the worst part of the game (that and the extremely serious, dull storyline). Havent seen the QL yet but I'm really glad that's gone.

If there's one thing you can count on with Volition it's 'cool shit'

maybe not the best graphics, glitches, whatever, but the men know their fun factor

Hey guys I asked this in the other GB thread and got some help but the problem still persists.

The videos on their site won't work for me. I can click on the arrow button but nothing plays. Can't mess with the options up at the top either. Its happened before but after a day or so it righted itself.

Anyways, it was suggested that I update my flash stuff which I did but nothing going. So,
any tips?

Stupid question I'm going to ask but, do you have adblock, no-script or any other plugin like that? Most of them block flash content by default.

You could also try another browser just to narrow down the problem.

Not feeling the direction of Red Faction Armageddon at all. I loved the open world aspect of Guerrilla, and the guerrilla warfare tactics vs. the big evil corporation was really fun. Gone are the days of attaching satchel charges to a huge truck, taking out half of the base, saving the captured Faction member, and leaving the area in ruins with your army behind you like a badass.

IDK man, they had a really cool thing going there, and with some better writing, characters, and less annoying enemies, they could've carved out a really good, even more unique sequel, but instead they went smaller, tighter, and alien...er. Guerrilla miners continuing their uprising in other areas of Mars >>> alien invasion underground.

Yeah, I guess you are right, we need more vanilla third person shooters with less chances to make random destruction fun happen!

Uh Red Faction 1 wasn't open world and I made more stuff blow up in that game than Armageddon

I know, neither was 2. Still those two games were forgettable for me. Taking out random enemy encampments with massive construction vehicles however was something I won't soon forget. I also liked the freedom the game gave me in terms of how I wanted to approach missions.

I want them to take Geomod and put it in something set on Earth. I couldn't care less about the Red Faction story and the Mars setting does it no favors. Being open world was the only thing that made me stay for Guerilla because everything that resembled actual missions or gameplay was awful.

according to the latest Game Informer, Saints Row The Third will use GeoMod 2.0

For real? That is fucking awesome.
hm
don't have the mag myself
just checked again the SR thread and it seems it hasn't been confirmed yet officially
other sources seem to say it uses "some kind of evolved GeoMod engine"
sorry for any confusion caused DX

No, not that I'm aware of. I guess I'll dl firefox and give that a shot since I'm running on IE.

Even stupider question.

Have you tried clicking the play button twice? I find I always have to press it a second time to get videos to start loading. I can't imagine you haven't done that but just thought I'd mention on the off chance.

It was an empty desert wasteland. You spent more time looking for stuff to blow up than actually blowing it up.

I liked the driving.

The same complaint could be said of Just Cause 2 but I never minded having to travel from point to point. The only time it has really turned me off is in Red Dead.

Yeah, just tried that. Nothing going. I even tried to change the encoding stuff but to no avail.

It's amazing how fucking cool The next gen Red Faction games are. Volition are super underrated IMO.

I think it's THQ fault, if Volition was under a good publisher like EA ,Take 2 or Microsoft they will be on top of the world by now, poor Saint's Row 2 ( best open world game this gen imo) got shitty release with zero marketing, same thing with Red Faction Guerrilla.

I doubt this will change, yeah there will be a Syfy shorty for Red Faction Armageddon but just look at the release date, they are thrown it after a few days from a freaking Rockstar game(L.A. Noire) and a Bethesda game.

And throwing Saints Row: The Third in this holiday season and in November 15, 2011 ( if rumors were right) is already a big mistake too, but I hope they at least put a decent marketing behind it even if 1/3 of Homefront marketing budget.

The weapons do seem a bit overpowered. I hope that there will be challenge modes with a select amount of weapons you have to go by.

And RFG did let the player be creative with only limited stuff. The weapons are awesome but I hope they don't make the gameplay too easy or a absurd fragfest.

Love the fluidness of the detruction though.

Watching the Torchlight quick look now. Was going to buy it on Steam, but...

The frame rate is unbelievable in the XBLA version (bad) and the UI is not nearly as good. I think buying Torchlight on Steam when it is on sale (which is like half the time it seems) is the way to go.

This monkey ball quick look is at least the second time recently when Jeff has shown a disturbing amount of knowledge about Insane Clown Posse mythology.

Looks like they made it more bite sized and not as hard. Or maybe its just the early levels. I got sick of how frustrating the previous games have been.
If Step and Roll was any indication, its gonna be easy as hell the whole way through.

Since they didn't know Okamiden's release date in the Bombcast and didn't mention it, I guess a Quick Look is out of the question. It really could use some exposure...

have we heard anything about that pokemon quick look?
They said last week they'd do something, and they said this week they'd do something. They also said something about Hyperdimension Neptunia.

GDC and PAX have just been keeping them really busy.
