The GiantBomb Quick Look Thread

I seem to remember one of the big things about the DS games was how much automation they had, so it's kind of weird watching Vinny pick up loot by hand.

I've never watched a Quick Look before today, but after watching the OoT one for 10 minutes, I couldn't stand it anymore. That guy sucks so bad. It was just painful to watch.
It was the worst QL I've seen, I'd say try another one before you write off the concept.

As others have said don't give up yet! Brad is unfortunately the worst game player u will ever see on a quicklook. He folds under the pressure of being on a camera playing a game more than lebron. Look up quicklooks with jeff or vinny or dave playing the games.

Yeah we know, noone here is making mistakes or gets lost in games. Give the guys a brake. it may be hard to watch, but they have to talk as well. Try that at home with a buddy, commenting the game constantly while playing a game you have not touched for many years.

Sometimes that just makes the QL even more entertaining. Like the legendary QL of that awful firefighting game.

Dude. That quick look was a really bad one to start with.

My favorite is Darkest of Days. The Wipeout, Rouge Warrior, and Story Hour one are hilarious too off the top of my head. But these are more entertaining than informational.

Yeah, usually I don't even buy into the "Brad sucks!" bullshit, but that OoT quicklook was painful. And it's not even stuff like "I can't believe you don't remember how to beat this dungeon!", I haven't played that game in over 5 years either, but like he's wondering where to go and where he's been when the map on the bottom completely shows all that.

The Dragonball Evolution QL is the best for a 'My First Quick Look'.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's noticed the bad-to-mediocre gaming on the QLs. Further proof why games are mainstreamed these days when even game journalists play like that. The QLs are still fun to watch though.

The average gamer isn't tasked with explaining the features of a game while having to play it. Besides, I don't think having mad skills is a prerequisite to becoming a game journalist.

Where we go? Someone who's never seen a QL before really didn't like the Zelda one... who cares.
Couldn't care less if he doesn't like a quick look. Just laughing to myself because the "these guys suck at games" sentiment comes up on every page of this thread.

Some of them do have mad skills, just not in the titles they choose to QL.

I find it weird. Like how lost they got in the F3AR QL. Or several others where thye just ignore the glowing "pick this up!!" and just wander around >.<

It's probably partially because all we see is the screen, but they're also looking/talking to each other, getting distracted by other people in the office etc.

Sometimes though one of the guys will almost do whatever spells progress, but disregard it because that would be 'too obvious' or something stupid like that. It's hard to watch them ignore the one point of interaction left in a given level.

It's the internet. Everyone thinks they're better. But, when they can't back up their sit, they just make excuses.

Brad, the X button is not the Y button. The magnum is not a handgun. If you look at the screen you can see how much ammo you have loaded. The game is already out in Japan so nothing stopped you from trying multiplayer.

*runs around screaming*

Multiplayer would have been the same thing except with another dude running around.

You could technically say that about any coop game, but it would still have been worthwhile to show off.

Animations look surprisingly choppy, for Mercenaries. Wish it didn't zoom so far onto the gun while aiming, shit takes up like half the screen. The enemy reaction animations also didn't look as sharp.

First time watching actual video of the game, seems pretty disappointing. Maybe it looks better in 3D.

I had the immense misfortune of playing F.E.3.A.R.3.A.R last night, and I got lost multiple times in the first area.

Terrible game.

I would hesitate to blame the game for getting lost in that level. It's probably one of the most linear I've played in an FPS outside of CoD.

There's a hidden door in the 2nd level though that I can totally understand missing though.

Some of the stuff at times felt a bit off, but yeah I agree. Most of those levels were very linear.
