Good thing Vinny was there to keep things on track. Otherwise seems like it would have been Brad just playing through 15 minutes of the game without explaining anything.
Yeah, that's a good point.

But the game itself looks so painfully boring and ugly... I was really looking forward to this, but with the lackluster contents I find myself not too eager to buy it.

Shame on you Brad, you really need to do 100 things at the same time. But praise the Vinny, he says "hello" and we love him.

Don't see the reason to hate on Brad for the RE mercs 3D QL. I mean, all it is is the Mercs mode from 4 and 5 with added stuff (skills and unlocks) which brad does go over. They devote about as much time to it as they would if it was a side mode from a full RE game, which it pretty much is. It's like they couldn't fit Mercs into Revelations so they made it a separate game.
Also, wtf is up with the audio? Apart form the music it sounded like shit.

He was trying, you could tell. He would shoot the guys a few times and run forward expecting the prompt but it wasn't there yet.

Because you have to shoot them in the right place. Anyone who has played Mercs knows that.

I didn't think the QL was really bad at all, I would certainly expect that sort of length for a game like this. Would have liked to see multiplayer though.

almost went against my better judgement and picked this up while caught up in a nintendo store shopping spree. glad i didn't, looks awful for $40.

Nothing is actually forcing him to do 100 things at the same time, there are nifty features such as pausing and/or not starting the game before getting your points across.

The initial summation of it is that it's "pretty much Mercenaries" which only means anything to anyone who's played Mercenaries which isn't even everyone who's played RE4/5. The controls are explained as "pretty standard RE controls", which means little to anyone who hasn't played RE up to 4, and especially little to anyone who's used a 3DS. It's only after it's explicitly asked of him to elaborate further on each is each point clarified.

I'd be surprised if Vinny didn't actually go through questions ahead of time internally as he goes through the specific 3DS feature set and how it's utilized in the game pretty thoroughly.

RE3D looks damn lame. It's pretty uncool of Capcom not to just include this with the real 3DS RE.

Could have been a hell of a package with Revelations.

I think its kinda ballsy, not in a good way, that Capcom is charging for mercenaries.

I am not sure, this game seems pretty lightweight and it already did get boring after 10 minutes, which is not Brad's fault. You can't make the game better only because you explain every little nook and scratch.

I could not imagine spending $40 on that RE game. I'd rather play RE4 on my iPhone, which cost 99 cents, BTW.

seriously. spending 40 dollars on a score attack game seems nuts these days. even on the home console, I would look at this as a 15 dollar downloadable title.

You should be angry at the game, not at Brad. There's nothing to be done to make that look like a purchase worth $40.
This.
Sometime a bad QL can be blamed on the player 'doing it wrong' but with ones like this it's all the games fault an nobody could make it good. Brad went over pretty much every feature on the review copy and didn't try the multiplayer because it wasn't out and if he did get a match chances are it'd be a pretty laggy game with a Japanese player. I know my 3DS online experiences are bad when playing people on the other side of the globe.
He played 2 missions in 2 different stages with 2 different characters and unless missions vary a lot then he'd shown what the game is. Unless you expect him to play through every location and use every character.

Also, anyone see the playthrough of the Revelations demo? I saw it on Kotaku, shit is 3 mins long. Like, I didn't expect much, but I did expect it to be a proper demo.

What's strange is there the E3 demo was reportedly the same area, but more like ten minutes long. It's like fucking people for spite to include the older one.

If it had a multiplayer mode it would hold a singular place in the 3DS line-up, instead they made it nothing but a cheap cash grab.

Not to defend it too much but it does have a multi-player mode, doesn't it?

For some reason, I always thought Vinny was a little bigger than he appears in that video. I assumed it was Alex for a while, until he got really goofy, at which point I knew it had to be Vinny .<3

Pretty much everyone in the games media is shorter than you think, at least that has been my impression after seeing many of them first hand now at PAX.

I've heard a couples times, mentioned on the podcast, that Jeff is pretty tall.

I'm 6'2", so I expect most journalists to be shorter than I am. I hear that Jeff is quite tall, though.

Edit: Great minds think alike!

...or know too much about the height of game journalists...

Oh man I haven't laughed that hard from a Quick Look in awhile. That was excellent.

Glad they realized they needed to do something to make another quick look of a shitty minigame collection interesting.

Wii Play Motion QL was pretty good but I really hoped they would have started another ER or something by now.

Pretty much nothing of interest until august so I hope they have ideas for videos.

ER's take up so much time for them. I want one too but I can understand if they'd never do another.

I thought once Catherine came out they might. I think it would be neat for them to do some shoter ones and maybe Brad would even get more on board.

There is loads GB can cover, retro quick looks, free PC stuff, indies on PC/360/etc. MMOs, weird games

It's in the lulls of new games I think there best stuff gets the chance to come out.

Retro QLs would be fun. They'd have to be at least 16 bit games to be entertaining, though.

I think they were investigating it a few months back..? I remember them mentioning needing some weird capture device.

wll the DP one only took a month and took about 25 hours of game time.

Im not calling for another epic 150 episode / 100 hour+ run like persona but some kind of semi regular video content not reliant on the latest game releases would be good.

The accidental Bad Dudes Endurance Run was one of the best videos they've ever posted, and I'd love to see more stuff like that. I'd also like if they didn't just do community multiplayer on TNT. They are starting to do that a bit with the Scrub Leagues, but I'd be down for just a couple hour block of them playing games.

Isn't it more odd to know exactly where Alex is in the country at any given moment?
Nah, everyone knows. He moved there, they talk about it like all the time.
