pssst I only pay about 20$ a month for that <3 and no caps or bandwidth throttling.
(sorry I know the USA has a terrible state of internet infrastructure). (also Canada and AUS+New-Zeeland) I know.

Heh, I still remember the shitstorm in this thread when the quick look for Demon's Souls came out. It's already been 2 years since then... time sure flies by.

My God, that couldn't have been the correct path in Dark Souls they took?

There must have been a path they missed that led to enemies that they could have killed legitimately without restoring to running away or trick tactics?

There was, wasn't there? WASN'T THERE?!?!?

Don't get me wrong, I think the enemies and the characters look great, but there is something dirty about it... it just looks a bit stale. The trailers looked much sharper and had more contrast, maybe it's the quicklook video.
 
Matthew Rorie is a god send for the Dark Souls quick look. He plays competently and seems to explain most of it really well. Loved this quick look. Great representation of the Demon's Souls/Dark Souls experience.
 
As much as I enjoyed Demon's Souls, I wasn't set on picking up Dark Souls day 1 with everything picking up soon, but that quick look really hyped me up. Pretty sure I will now.

I wouldn't judge the "staleness" by the QL or other videos on the net. I think it looks gorgeous in motion :D
 
This is the first time I see a Dark Souls in action. Yeah, this game is soooo bought. This is one of the best QL they ever made. Super informative, exciting, funny, and totally sold me on the game.

I thought they hated/didn't care for any of the Monster Hunter games. I don't even think Vinny plays them.

Well, if the quick look was anything to go by and if the moments when the people who play/like the game (Vinny and Matt) say "And THAT'S what Demon Soul's is all about"- are anything to go by, then it's not surprising why a lot people would shun this game.

None of them care for Monster Hunter. I don't know where he got that from. I doubt any of them played it after they shot the quick look.
 
Question: I haven't really looked at these games past the two quick looks, do you spend the entire game in dungeons and castles or is there some variety to the environments/color palletes?

Plenty of variety if Demon's Souls is anything to go by. It retains the medieval surroundings though.
 
Disables party chat? I don't know if I like that decision at all. I was hoping because of multiplatform they'd make some concessions for people who like to play this game as a coop game.

The bonfires are already enough of a concession. :)
Add chat and you lose the atmosphere.
Man I can't wait to play this game. Almost makes me want to finish some Demon's Souls for the 4th time.

I played the game chatting over Skype. Atmosphere is killed by respawning enemies in the same places every time. If I want a challenge, I'll play it the way the want me to play it.

Yeah, it looks fucking awesome and I want to buy it as well, which is dumb because I own Demon's Souls and always abandon it.
 
I mentioned it in the official thread, the more I see Dark Souls, the more I want to play it. My only concern is, I feel like I need a healthy chunk of time to sit down and play so I can let it sink its hooks into me. I feel like if I don't give this game some serious time, at least in the beginning, I'll be frustrated with the lack of progress.

Goddamn X-men Destiny looks terrible, even for a mindless brawler. Is that the same engine they used for Too Human? The faces look real messed up in a way which reminds me of Too Human.
 
Chalk me up as another person who bought Dark Souls based on that Quick Look.

Ironically, it was the spear that did it. Looked like a really interesting (and realistic) way to play the game.


Actually, I paused the QL, opened a new tab, went to Amazon, bought it, then finished it up.
