Just finished the Dark Souls QL, probably one of the best I've seen in a while. They need to get Rorie in on these more often.

If you haven't, the First Templar QL with him and Ryan's pretty good

Yeah that DS QL really got me excited for the game... Might order it instead of Gears 3. I just love the art style, it's pretty close to being boring and generic but isn't. Bosses look amazing.

edit: I really hope you can sell your items, though. And that enemies would also hurt each other accidentally.

The Dark Souls QL really impressed me, I never played the first one, and didn't plan to try this one, but I'll see if I can get Demon's Souls cheap, and maybe give it a try.

Ironically it was their QL of Demon's Souls that solidified my belief I'd hate it.

You may find Demon's Souls a little bit different than this one though. Dark Souls seems to be a step above Demon's Souls really.

Thanks for the head's up, but I'd certainly want to play Demon's first if I do decide to try Dark anyway.

Matt Rorie doesn't know how to back stab/parry/running slash/hop back stab/use running around the enemy to his advantage and it is very hard to watch. Anyone who thinks that this is how DS combat looks at its peak, please know that it is much more refined than slash...wait...wide slash 3 hit combo...wait/block.

I blame Brad.
Seriously?

He was running around with his shield up all the time. I'd say that's quite indicative of how the average person plays :P

Well it's also why he couldn't get a backstab on the pig. Shields gotta go down sometime.

Dark Souls quick look is now one of my favorite quick looks. I'm seriously considering picking up DS now. I always wanted to dry Demons Souls, but I was too afraid for the same reasons Brad gave. I don't know, it just looks a bit more forgiving this time, and a bit easier to approach, since I'm very unfamiliar with this sort of game.

I can understand why a lot of you probably are frustrated with how Matt was playing, but that is pretty representative of how I would have been going into it my first time. Most of what he was doing seemed to make sense to me, but I've never really watched a lot of gameplay videos on DS.

Either way, I had so much fun watching Matt suffer, mwahahahahaha!
Glad he made it to that last campfire, though.

Watching BF3 now. THEY KILLED HIS FRIEND!

I must be too much of a hardcore DS fan. I really disliked the QL, partly because of the way it was played and partly because they seem mildly uninformed about some of the game. This is probably because I'm the kind of person who has read nearly every page of the DkS OT, i know you cant expect every journalist to be an expert on pre-release game info. The guy playing, who I'm not familiar with, just seemed really annoying like he had ADD.

Edit: ok it wasn't that bad, maybe I'm being overly critical. They did seem to have a genuinely good time, which was cool.

Dark Souls is babby mode confirmed. the real backlash begins here
Say what now? Everything we know about the game indicates the opposite, including the dozen or so people in the Dark Souls OT who have it.

Loved the Dark Souls quicklook. The part on the bridge, and then end.... so goooood. My only complaint is I wish they showed a magic character since almost all the footage I've seen is of melee characters

Also, looks like Kessler is playing Dark Souls, I can't wait to see what ever he puts up on the youtube channel.

I killed a giant rat, and inside it I found Humanity.

Rarely in life does one get the opportunity to put an asshole in his place. Dark Souls is the game that rewards you for doing so.

I left Dark Souls with my Xbox at work, because I didn't want to play the game without capturing footage. I should have stayed at work.

I've got to go back! I've got so many souls not yet claimed! So many monsters not yet dead!

I only played the BF3 beta for like 5 minutes, but I had the same thing happen to me that happened to Jeff. I kind of fell through the world for a bit, then when I came back it didn't allow me to right click and look down the sights of my gun. My solution was just to die.

What they showed looks really easy. Like DS tutorial easy. 1-1 in DS puts a lot of beginner traps, and progressively harder enemies in front of you. That quick look showed nothing of threat except for the dragon. Just go pick up either game.

You got to play paranoid early in the game, before you get all the cool stuff.
It only gets harder. I'm not even really going to use a shield.

Dark Soul's is just a spiritual sequel, the story doesn't carry over.

Either way, it looks like it's a bit more welcoming to someone like me than the previous game was. I doubt I'll get around to demon's souls, unless Dark Souls just really, really gets me, but who knows? I'll probably be waiting for a price drop before diving in, anyways.

Ugh, why do people from GB seem to have tunnel vision when it comes to online shooters? Instead of Jeff looking around, making sure the area is safe to move out into, he just gets killed.

What's the point?
His team won because he charged the point.

Just saying.

True, but it's more a right place, right time, kinda thing, than a testament to Jeffs "skill".

I liken it to a comedy, where one of the main characters charges into an enemy base, unaware and oblivious to the fact that he's on the verge of certain death. Instead, he saves the day, without even trying, or knowing. It's part of the "comedy", but really it's just dumb.

I'm drifting, but you get the point.
