YouTube counts embedded views. If a video only shows 1000 views that's how many free users have watched it. It doesn't matter if you view the videos on giantbomb or YouTube.

Doesn't YouTube only count a view if someone finishes a video, or at least gets close? I remember reading this somewhere, but I could be wrong. QLs tend to get a little long in the tooth--too much so, lately, IMO--so this could go a little ways to explaining the low view counts.

Why do I still get shit YouTube videos even though I am a subscriber? Is it because I pay monthly instead of yearly? Sometimes I get YouTube and sometimes I don't,

Before you press 'play' on the video, you can choose between streaming, progressive, HTML5 and youtube. I think it selects youtube by default.

So should I post another comparison of High Streaming vs 360p YT with the Sonic QL, or would it be a waste of time?

I can only speak for myself, but I get it. I totally believe you guys.

Could someone make a list of the best videos from the last six weeks or so? Really in the mood for watching some Quick looks now with all the games coming out.

If you are a subscriber, watch the random PC game SWAT video. Not a new game but it is hilarious.

Quick Look of Train Simulator 2012: Trains vs. Zombies DLC

Just watch that on loop.

Ugh, that Sonic Generations quicklook.... I love the GB crew, but I always wince when stumble through a topic they don't really know or care about. In this case, they said the original Sonics "weren't that great" and people only like them because of childhood nostalgia. That's crazy talk.

What bothers me more is when people say Sonic is only about speed (such as GB, or even Retronauts). I don't think that's true at all; the 2d sonics feel a lot slower than many of the Sonic levels in 3d sonics, but in many of those you don't do much more than hit forward and tap 'A' to auto-spin-attack.

Sonic 2, to me, was always more about exploration and multiple paths. Speed came from being good at a stage and knowing exactly where you wanted to go at any given moment. Like, When I play Sonic2 now I breeze through it and that's super fun, just executing it while listening to the bops and the beats. but the newer games have such a high speed in general that I don't feel properly in control and it often leads to a bunch of fumbling. I don't think the level design or the controls justfy the increase in speed, it just feels bad man.

I didn't play colors, unleashed or generations so maybe they have improved. I'm perfectly fine with enjoying my one sonic game and see them make more for other people. Kids love that shit.

Haha, Jeff's disinterest and borderline disdain for this game was palpable.

And it didn't make for a very interesting Quick Look as a result. I'm curious why he bothered to do it at all, seeing as he's not familiar with LotR as a property to begin with (not reading the books or any of Tolkien's material is obviously understandable, but how the hell he has never even seen the films is beyond me o.O).

I find it unsurprising that the people who say "Sonic wasn't that great, even in the Genesis era" are also the same people who don't really seem to understand (or remember) how to correctly play the old games.

The Skyrim thing seems like one of the few thing Giant Bomb would do that I want to actively avoid... my reasoning that I kept away from all things Skyrim for the last few months, I don't think I want to break that a day before release.

Same. I don't want to spoil anything about the game.

Yeah, I have absolutely no desire to see twelve hours of Skyrim before I even got my hands on it. Seems like something for people that are only kinda interested in Skyrim or really, really like Greg.

I'm not really interested in the game, so I'll watch it, or at least parts of it. I just hope it isn't Greg alone playing it. I watched parts of his oblivion marathon and it just seemed a bit dull with him playing the game and only occasionally saying something now and then. I'd like a more usual giant bomb experience. In other words... replace Greg with Dave and Vinny!

The Skyrim thing is for everyone, not just subscribers.
I'm surprised anyone interested in the game would want it spoiled for them. I wish they were doing it a week or so after the game was out instead.

A lot of people seem to love things like this, these early access streams are always pretty popular.

i'm not quite sure what this skyrimming thing is going to be

like who is this Greg person? is he going to talk about it while he plays and thats it? or will the GB guys be watching and commenting and doing the talking, like a TNT? they said they would lock him in a room playing so if its just him on his own that would be kind of boring

:/

It's fair enough that people wouldn't know Greg if they didn't follow the guys from Gamespot (I didn't). But if you've been watching GiantBomb content you will have seen or heard him a few times, especially this year.

Also he's the reason we have Giant Bomb.
Not really.

I doubt most people will watch more than an hour or two of the stream, so it probably won't spoil any more than a regular quicklook. Also, Skyrim seems like the type of game that you could watch for 4-5 hours and hardly spoil anything.

For a fighting game or multiplayer shooter I could understand, but in a game where exploration is the focus I think you either are going to bore or short-change yourself.

It's funny how GB sort of becomes irrelevant once you can no longer access their video content. I don't care about the change in video/audio quality. The simple fact is I can't access Youtube where I normally watch these videos. So it was fun while it lasted, but I guess I'm just a casualty of the decision to shift away from their normal video player.

Exactly how I feel. Youtube is blocked at college and opening it via software such as ultrasurf is too slow.Love their stuff but not really interested in subscribing to all the whiskey media site.Hope that Giantbomb gets a separate subscription or something.

i wonder if the youtube thing is anything to do with the hard drive price thing than Vinny or whoever it was mentioned on the bombast?

The 12 hour Skyrim thing makes no sense. I get upset when someone is Playing a game I want at a midnight launch. I don't want to see the first second, let alone the first 12 hours of any game.

Top page edit: YouTube is the best thing to happen to GB videos in forever. Now they actually *stream reliably*.

If they archive it of course I'll watch but there's no way I'm going to watch them play Skyrim for that long before I get a chance to play it.
