Oh, and dual-wielding makes all the formerly-cool weapons into shitty, watered-down versions of their former selves. Not to mention the awesome custom physics engine was dumped in favor of Havoc, and the AI in campaign is nowhere near as varied or unpredictable. But I'm actually content with the game going in the vein of Halo 2, so long as they fix the campaign.

Slowly turning into a believer. It is clear that the lighting is not realistic, but it seems they are going after a more "artistic" feeling which suits Halo really well. I just hope there's a lot more geometry in the single player.

Yes, I should have cleared that up in my first post, I'll have gold by then, my first free month just ran out and I'm going out to find a deal on 12 more months tommorrow.
 
I would like to know if Halo 3 will support fullscreen for the resolution of 1280x1024, I use my PC LCD what's 4:3 and games like GRAW do this perfectly.

I want timed re-spawns like in halo 1. I want camo to actully mean something. I want the ability to nade weapons to yourself (Or to another direction) for everyone in a match not just host. I want chill-out back

They only balance the game for people who suck otherwise. What's wrong? Can't hold rocks without your glitches? Your argument cuts both ways. Bungie says they're cheap. The majority of the community thinks they're cheap. I think they're cheap. Use them outside of MLG and customs and guess what? You're garbage. Sorry. Plus, worst of all, you aren't fun to play with.

Timed spawns are back in. Sort of. Doubtful on the nades, but we'll find out in less than a week.

You know what I want? I want some coffee. I think I'll have a cup right now. See what I did there? I set my sights for something I can achieve. And now, here I sit, sipping my hot coffee, satisfied. Mmm. Coffee. Now that's good shit.

Sweet vid, i can't wait to try it. I never played H2 MP since i didn't have live then :p

That's sad as hell that you need exploits to balance the game for yourself - I guess if you suck otherwise, I guess it's "fair"...

And the pistol balanced Halo 1? A weapon that practically made every other weapon useless balanced the game? Yeah, see, I don't think you know what the word balanced means...
 
Bungie also announced a new Halo novel today...Written by Joe Statten, one of the Bungie writers. Normally I'd be psyched as I've read and enjoyed all three Halo novels, but first of all, it's about the beginning of the war between the humans and the covenant...second of all it's not by Nylund...And third the main character is Sergeant Johnson who has also been a very comical and unserious character.

And Mr Jukes video is awesome. In both content and video editing. Halo 3 is looking so sick. The graphics and physics are a vast improvement over H2, and all the maps look to be pretty sweet. We see that there's equipment that can be used for jumping as well which I did not know. Great vid.

Wow...when did we start letting in the Bungie.net trolls these days? Junior...where do I begin?

BxR, RRX, BxB and every other hell-spawn of a button combo that glitchers found are not and I repeat are not legit and they are not "balancing." If anything, they unbalance the game. The sword is supposed to be the perfect close quarters weapon along with the shotgun. What's the point of having those weapons if you can get killed by a BR in a half-second?

The pistol did not balance Halo: Combat Evolved unless you consider balance meaning everybody had the same weapon. That's what matches turned into when you started with the pistol. I admittedly haven't played much Halo: Combat Evolved multiplayer, but every game I played with pistol starts, hardly anybody picked up another weapon. There was no point to.

Timed-respawns are in Halo 2 in certain areas. Waterworks is a good example. I've played many games where the other team just held off their base and then ended up pushing us back with four or five snipers, I shit you not. Timed respawns do nothing. Imagine if the sword was on timed respawn in Lockout. All a team would have to do is hold the general area off, keep picking up swords and then they could easily destroy another team with two or three swords.

Power weapons don't belong on timed-respawns. They're rare because they are that powerful. Halo 2 is not weapon whoring as much as it's about map and weapon control. And don't give me that bullshit about how whoever spawns closest to the power weapons wins. I've killed many swords, shotguns, snipers, rockets, overshields and god knows what else with an SMG. And I suppose you're going to tell me the guys I played against were n00bs, eh?

Grenades move weapons in Halo 2. Maybe you should go back and play because you obviously haven't latley. I never get host, and I grenade weapons and the ball to me all the time.

He's right, in a way. The first thing noticeable about PDZ is how much the characters stuck out. You take a couple grim, dark, murky environments and toss a dozen neon green Joannas into it and things look a little funky. One could say the same about the rainbow Spartans. They just look sorta out of place in some sunsine infested, grass covered hillside.

My biggest problem is that the sniper rifle looks to be even more goddamn annoying than ever. That guy, and most of the leaked videos contain this too, got a ton of single bodyshot kills while jumping all over the place, and what's worse is he made it look easy. Short-medium range mobile sniping is just sooooo lame to me.

First of all learn your shit. I come from MLG. we hate bungie kids. There the people like you who hate the "glitches".

Face it: In every really competitive game theres almost always "glitches" that make the game balenced. Smash bros,Halo,Tony hawk, etc.

Halo 1 made it so the better shooter with better aim won the fight not the person who randomly spawned closest to the Rocks,Or sniper.
And with the power wepon on spawns it's one of the reason why People play with BR's staring so if someone sword whoring they can BxR them and balenced the game.

Wow...you're 1337 MLG! Do you want a g'damn cookie? MLG doesn't mean anything to me. So quit trying to stroke your ego and act like you're big and bad. The only experience you've probably had with MLG is going into some random person's game on your list and they happened to be playing MLG rules.

I still don't see how you can say these glitches balance the game out. They make the battle rifle too overpowered. It's not supposed to be good up close because it's a medium-ranged weapon. Do you not understand that? The sword and the shotgun are supposed to be great up close but shitty at anything other than close ranges. That's balance my friend. Balance is not having one weapon that can kill in any situation at any time. That's what was wrong with the pistol in Halo.

Jukes is an excellent player. But you should watch the video again, because he only got two sniper kills, one while in the air from the mancannon, with the victim already taking damage and one with the victim in flight from the mancannon. And both kills were legit dome shots.

Juke's is pretty impressive, but for the like that think these weapons are overly powerful, keep in mind he's using saved films and only pulling the cream of the crop in terms of footage. I'm not saying the weapons aren't powerful or may need adjusting, I'm just saying that we're looking at a piece of very skewed footage. We see him get a good two dozen or so laser kills, but we didn't see the 200 times he missed. He's a good player and it'd be cool to play with or against him, but consider the context of the footage before crying foul play.

i actually feel like the pistol did sort of balance halo:ce, because there wasn't really any very good midrange weapon there. the pistol was a bit too powerful as a long range weapon, because it was too accurate, but it was really useful as it made it possible to deal with snipers really effectively...just maybe too useful.

Halo 2 is about Running, Shooting, Nading, and Melee-ing, not about who can push button combinations better. (i.e. BXR, RRXYYRRX, BXB)

This isn't Street Fighter HAHDOOOOOOKEN!!

As much as I love the pistol from Halo: CE, I was actually glad to see it go (once Bungie balanced out the BR, nade, and melee damage anyway). I once played in a CE tournament, and I will never forget how during a CTF game on blood gulch I would get 3 shotted from across the map as soon as I spawned. It was insane - and while I was impressed with their skill, it was basically unfair once they were "set" in proper positions.

One thing I'm really hoping gets addressed is the host advantage, although I have no idea how this might work. I always thought people complaining about host was bullshit when I first started playing, but now that I've been playing at high levels it really does make a big difference in BR battles as well as the effectiveness of the shotgun. Oh, and someone mentioned the ability to nade weapons to yourself like in CE. I definitely hope this makes it back in - nading the rocket to yourself in maps like Damnation (remake for Halo 3 please!) was amazing.

Anyone wants to play the Beta go ahead and add me, I consider myself a very good player. Ranks are reset, so I'll just post my k/d as a measure of skill / to be a pompous assshole :)

I think the only way they can avoid host advantage is either dedicated servers (not happening) or some kind of client-side hit detection like Perfect Dark Zero uses.

well that's the thing, as a long range weapon it was too powerful and too accurate, so if they were to tone that down a little, but still make it a useful counter against snipers, it would be pretty well balanced.
