What do you expect. Its Halo.

Didn't I see you on the side of the interstate the other day?

God, and I thought I was suffering from H3 lust/withdrawal yesterday... Today's been a whole new level of hell. And I was looking forward to today for some misguided reason. The whole "enjoy watching H3 vids" lasted maybe half a minute before every fiber of my being wanted to be at the controls.

Wow, DopeyFish didn't get a code?

That's funny...like how everyone I know got into the Home Beta except for me. :p

Yeah, I think I shouldn't have chased Frankie around constantly in the humpday challenge... :<

i think i'm done for the night. *whew, i'm exhausted! awesome game bungie. very little lag, and i'm on a pretty shit connection. great games ramirez, ghaleon, scoot, etc. we'll have to play more. sorry i wasnt chatting, i had company over. ghaleon, we did pretty decent you and i against those 4!

Is anyone playing Team Slayer? I just fired it up and every time it looks like I'm about to join a game it kicks me out and starts the matchmaking over again :(

Maybe I'll try another playlist.

Thanks for the vid. I do have a nice Spartan ass, if I say so myself. Shiny! :lol

Not sure what to say that hasn't already been said. I'll just sum up my thoughts thus - so far I have *no* problems that I've found. Every weapon has been useful, every round has had wonderful "Halo moments". There's great touches every where, like the computers that you can destroy on High Grounds. The sound, as has been mentioned, is wonderful and superior to both previous games. Graphics are simply superb.

But it's the play. I had more fun today than in any of my previous Halo MP experience. I'm not sure how much of that is the new-ness of it all, I need some sleep and some distance. A few random thoughts:

*The medal for killing someone "from the grave" is wonderful. I tend to drop desperation grenades a LOT and so it was my most frequently awarded medal.

*My only Killing Spree was with the needler. Think about that for a sec. Needler.

*Being the VIP is like being a badass with a giant target painted on your back.

This game is going to own Xbox Live this fall. It's more polished, seamless and fun than Halo and Halo 2 ever were. Thanks Stinkles for letting me in early, and everyone I got to play with. Bungie has a monster on their hands.

The OP is as updated as I can make it tonight. I'll update gamertags tomorrow. I would tonight but I'm fried.

does anybody think Halo 3 is as visually impressive as gears or war at this point?
That's hard to say. Different scale and style. More player, WAY more going on (equipment, grenades, more weapons, more moveable and destructable objects, vehicles, etc.). I think this game is in the same company, visually.

Also, I teabagged Luke's face. Three times.

Has this been posted yet? Live footage?

HERE

Nope, just some Gamespot nonsense wayyyy earlier (which sucked b/c of their lack of knowledge about Halo 1 and 2 MP play). Thanks for the link and damn I'm already sick of the guy getting messages on XBL. :lol

Edit: Seems like I was just in time to catch his last game for the night lol

So far my only nitpick is the delay between pressing the left trigger to throw a grenade and the actual throwing, it's a bit too slow for my taste.

Same here but only for the sticky grenade.

I almost forgot a great moment -

On one of my last games, Assault on Valhalla, the other team planted the bomb in our base. The defense cleared them out and I and two others ran in to defuse the bomb.

*BOOM*

squicken had planted a proximity mine right on the bomb. It blew our whole damn team up. Needless to say, we lost. :lol

It was a great example of how the new Equipment adds subtle but fun layers of strategy to the game.

Love the new control too. First I was really messed up with the bumpers and the x thing, always wanted to reload with x, but after a while you get used to it. It makes much more sense to reload with the bumpers and pick-up weapons with the bumpers. Also gives more and faster control over your dual wielding and picking up weapons.
In fights it's easier and faster just using the bumpers and triggers.

you defuse the bomb now?!!?

This needs an explanation :) So is it basically like before except they added like 10 seconds after its planted for you to diffuse? And to diffuse do you just stand next to it?

I just watched that vid and the power drainer is indeed awesome. I wonder why we haven't seen more vids with it.

You place the bomb on the mark and try to defend the bomb while a timer counts down. the defending team has to try to defuse it.

The beta is awesome and fun. I love the new feel of the carbine and assault rifle.

The lack of "Killtacular!" and having "Running Riot!" at 15 kills in a row instead of 10 is disappointing. I hope they change that back for release.

Yo BlimBlim, your videos are all screwed up (at least when I stream them). Stuttery as all hell.

I'm very very impressed by the look of this game in HD, btw. High Ground is the best-looking map by far, imo. Amazing lighting and rock textures.

I still don't fully understand from that description. Can you explain exactly how it's different from Halo 2?

1) Does the person planting the bomb still have to stand in the circle for 10 seconds?
2) By "defuse it" do you mean the defenders have to stand in the bomb area for 10 seconds too? Can the defending team still pick up the bomb and remove it from their base?

Once you take the bomb to the designated mark, it drops out of your hands into the slot and arms. It triggers a count down, and you don't have to stand in place with the bomb like sitting duck. The defending team has to walk up to the bomb and defuse it simply by standing over the bomb.

Thanks.

Not really sure if I like that. Seems like it makes things a lot easier for the attackers and harder for the defenders.

no it sounds harder for the attackers...

now not only does the bomb have to arm/plant but it has to reach it's countdown too

what this means is you can't rush in 1 after another and expect a successful arm. now you have to work for it

As cool as that sounds I still sorta hope the old method is in, since it was pretty awesome blowing the bomb way the hell out of the circle when you know it was about to detonate. I'd like it if it still took a bit of time to arm.

Just to add to this - think of it like capturing a Territory in reverse - the bomb is planted but you get there before it's armed. There's a meter that counts down and if you get it to zero, the bomb is returned. So the attacking team has to arm it, and defend for a few seconds.

Dopey is right, it requires more teamwork. I thought it was a good change.

I haven't tried to jack anything, haven't really had the chance, the only Ghost is on Snowbound and mostly never gets used when I have played the level.

All I can say is that if you enjoyed Halo 2 multiplayer, then this will be like a ****ing dream come true, it takes the best of both games and molds them together to make such an awesome experience. One thing I don't think anyone has mentioned, the shotgun actually works consistently now and you don't even need to be the host :lol

I got a dirty disc error a minute ago, and there wasn't even a damn disc in the system , plus it's a brand new system, oh MS...:(
