The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Is there a gauss warthog in the beta? Every footage I've seen seems to have the old machine gun style warthog turret.

how much damage can it take. also what happends if you shoot at the wheels while someone is on it. take it out faster?

If I remember correctly, territories is round-based. One team is on offense, one on defense.

Land Grab is everyone going at the same time.

You cannot recapture captured territories. Bungie, maybe that would be a good alternate mode?

Haven't seen a single Gauss Hog at all, but I'm sure that they're in the final, just like how there's no Banshee, or sword or pistol, etc. in the beta...

That may be true, but it's also the biggest thing wrong with Halo 2 multiplayer. For all the graphical touches and gameplay additions being shown off in these videos, the lack of BR whoring is by far what makes me most excited.

I haven't really noticed how much damage it can take yet sorry. We usually just use it to rush into an area quick and then jump off of it.
Now that I think about it, I know it's quite a bit quicker than a ghost. Or at least it feels like it when someone is trying to charge you with one. :)

I haven't really seen any huge weapon whoring yet. Of course the sniper is still amazing and the Spartan laser is crazy, but there seem to be more options in weapons so far. I haven't felt crippled yet if I didn't have a certain weapon.

the lack of duel weilding is what makes me the happiest. :)

damn well thats pretty quick. must be great to use when you have the opposing teams flag. gosh i can't wait for some CTF. i am excited.

I think that will be an option. When you get to a locked territory, there's a padlock icon over it. I think that's to help identify when you can re-capture or not. Just speculating, but that would be a fun customization option.

Yeah i know! I haven't played CTF yet, but i played bomb and when it comes to getting yur bomb guy to the other base asap the mongoose is the way to go.

thats awesome must be pretty cool if you hit someone who is flying on a mongose with a spartan laser. has to be a tough shot. even tougher with a snipe.

you need to watch the gamehead segments. ther eis a part where he pulls user questions out of the helmet. it is decent sized. i wants it.

There're no Banshees in the beta? I saw a video earlier(from one of those press events, seems like) that showed a missle pod blowing away a Banshee on Valhalla.

Nope. :I Unless you're with a party of folk with the same intent, you're gonna have to feel 'em out as you go.
 
What are the animations like for hijacking ATV's? Like a ghost or can a hijacker ride brokeback? What if there are two people on the ATV?

Are there any improvements to hijacking? I have always been hoping to see a spartan jump onto the bonnet of a hog and start laying the smackdown on it like we've seen them do with a wraith.

Yeah sorry Im responding so late to this one but I had to. BR is THE anti-sniper weapon. That is it's purpose in H2. Sorry.
 
Watching all these videos is just making the wait till Wednesday that much more painful :(

At least we still have Halo 2 to make it more bareable. And with the rank reset its that much more fun getting a 10:1 kd ratio up to say level 16ish, then it starts to dip a bit. I just hope every map is covered in BR's, not like some of the Halo 2 maps where if you get a bad spawn good luck trying to find a decent weapon for the next 5 minutes.

Hopefully in the final game we see the return of Lockout, far and away H2's best map. Midship isnt too bad either.
