I had a match where someone was in a parked warthog on the changun. I was under heavy fire and dodged under to jack him out...and hopped in the passenger seat instead. That didn't work out so well. :lol

Wow. This is something I forgot about, but I'm pretty sure they do in Halo 2. I never notice it, but I definitely remember reading and/or noticing it back in the day.

Ah sorry, I always download the QuickTime ones (.mov) and they are in 960x540 or something and not true 720p.

Are all WMV movies on GameTrailers in 720p or is it just a special thing for the Halo 3 ones?

When you got shot at with a plasma rifle in Halo 1, it used to stun you a bit and slow your movement. They removed that from Halo 2 though, I'm pretty sure cause the dual wielding....

That's hilarious. Don't know how Marty feels about it though...

I heart the beta. I just wish there was more 1 Flag CTF on High Ground. That hardly ever comes up for me and it's the one gametype/map combo that I really wanted to see more of.
 
Oddball + Snowbound = Greatness. Grab the skull... go behind a shield door... wait for someone to try and walk through... hit him in the face.

i played about 20 team slayer matches and 15 skirmish and/or team training matches before i ever saw CTF... but tonight i must have played 3 or 4 matches of it

I need to find something more productive to do tomorrow, lest I go crazy. This is so not the right thread to ask this so not right question, but was Halo 2's campaign any good? Never actually played it or even owned my own copy of H2 for that matter. Keep in mind if there's any chance I could get hopelessly lost in a level as happened all to frequently in H1 the answer for me is no.

3 days, 3 hrs, 56 mins, and 4 secs now. See, that wasn't hard. Just need to repeat that what, 1400 times?

Yes it was good. The ending wasn't that great though.

People are polarized on the H2 campaign. I consider it superior to Halo 1's in nearly every respect.

You know, I'm just not sure which I prefer. I had been playing the CE campaign a bit over the past few months on and off. Perhaps I'll use these three beta-less days to go through both campaigns, which is something I've been meaning to do again anyhow.

Damn. Maybe I should get back into Halo 2 online while I wait. Does anyone know if its still flooded with hackers?

I was similarly split until early this year. I played the Halo 2 campaign, and then Halo 1's back to back. I was very surprised at my reaction - where before I had a hard time deciding, Halo 2 came out ahead by a HUGE margin for me.

Yeah, it looks like the new banhammer functionality took care of modders for good. Pretty sure I've been standbyed but it's so infrequent that I really can't remember.

Bungie really came through this time.
 
Is the Oddball a 1 hit melee kill now? It looked like from some videos I saw. Pretty lame if it is. I think the 2 hit kill or 1 hit jump kill in Halo 2 were perfect for the flag/ball.

I think it's more realistic, though. I don't know about you, but the last time I smacked someone in the face with a skull they were immediately sent to a respawn screen.
 
Moar videos, please. This is the first game in a loooooong time (Halo 2?) that I've actually had fun watching gameplay videos.

Not sure about SD sets, but in HD is actually scales each screen and keeps the 16:9, full field of view for both players, instead of cropping to fit, which is a really, really nice touch in a Beta filled with really, really nice touches.

I haven't seen a hacker in a very long time.

Keep in mind that the ranks were just recently reset a few days ago. So people who are level 40 are fighting against people who are level 2 and such. It'll fix itself over time, but right now it's not exactly even matches.

That's a good change IMO.

You run so much slower holding them, and you can't fight back against enemies that are at medium or long range, so it's only fair to have a powerful melee attack.

I dropped a shield in the lower level in snowbound and held up with the oddball, tempting all comers to enter my sphere of skull smacking death and destruction. Awesome.

Can you use equipment while holding the skull/flag, or does it drop the item you're holding first?

You won't drop anything when you pick them up, but both the ball and flag require two hands so you can't really do anything but smack people while you're holding them.

Hahaha that's awesome. Last time i played KOTH on High Grounds i threw a shield grenade over myself while on the hill and it worked very well.

What I meant to ask was, can you throw down a bubble shield (or grav lift) with the X button while still holding the flag? Or does it drop the flag first?

It would make for some interesting escapes if you could still use the X button equipment while holding the flag and not alerting the enemies to its position.

I'm not sure about that one. I'll try to find a skirmish game and test it out really quick.
