Rare could learn from Bungie. Ice should be shiny, walls, however, shouldn't (Perfect Dark Zero anyone?).
 
Maybe I missed something, but what is with the codes over peoples heads at a long distance and on the scoreboard?

I understand why they use it for long distances, but what do the codes actually mean? They just seem to be a random letter followed by 2 random numbers?

You can specify them yourself.

I changed mine to T01 which was the first terminator (see Terminator 3)) prototype and had fairly limited AI. (In hindsight it's also the first letter of my nickname)

I actually prefer them to the pictures because I can more easily remember them. Just the type of brain I have.

Plus, you can pick your own. So I went with Y2 and then 7 since my gamertag is similar. Now you can quickly pick me out. ;)
 
They sorta make more sense than it did in Halo 2. In Halo 2 unless you were "targeting" a teammate, it would just show their emblem, and if you were playing with people you didn't know, you probably didn't remember their names from the lobby. Hell I don't remember my friend's icons individually. It's going to be kinda retarded saying things like "J12 rocket's coming up behind you," but in the heat of battle and so on it works out better.
 
I saved a game of 1 Flag CTF last night, and it has me using the Laser alot, I'll send that one to you later Blim, if people would like to see how it really isn't overpowered, I won't be on til late tonight however.

And to the person asking for my GT, DaAnswer3. I played another PMS girl last night on my next to last match, won that game, then the next game I was on her team and she only got 3 kills, I thought they were good? Like getting paid money and shit...or is it because...they have boobs :( :P

you kids have ruined my day just thinking about how long it'll take to get this download and actually play. it'll prolly be thursday or friday before the servers allow me to get it completely .

I don't think the servers will actually be that hard hit. I remember when the Halo 3 Announcement Trailer hit the servers were bogged down. But that's a good million + users downloading it I would imagine. I would say there MIGHT be a million people downloading the Beta. Not to mention, I doubt all will be on early when it first launches.
 
The call signs would be alot better if you didn't have to use 2 numbers, RAM for example, would be awesome for me, but I'm forced to use R23 :( :P

Well Crackdown as of the end of March had sold what, 500k or so? Let's sales have been bumped up because of the beta and let's say it's at 750k when the beta starts. Probably only 2/3 to 3/4 of Crackdown owners have Live/Gold, and not THAT many people got in through the signup/contests, and a lot of them probably have Crackdown anyway. I say the beta will probably wind up having 500-600k, which is still a pretty damn large number.

From what I've been told there's different factions/groups/clans/whatever they're called within the PMS clan. One part plays hardcore competitively/for money, and there's also a casual player portion. I know one person who's in the casual portion, but she's still ****ing crazy good, but I've played against some of the other causal players and kicked their ass.

I agree with thsoe numbers. But not all of them are going to ambush the servers at launch. Many people will wait until after school or work to get on and download it and some will wait thinking the servers will be easier then. I'm staying up and hopefully will get it sooner.

Yeah, the fact that it comes out at 5 am Pacific/8 am Eastern helps as well. I'm Eastern and I'll be on it first thing, but a lot of East coast people might have already had to leave for work/school by that point. And Pacific coast people won't be up except for the hardcore people. Even if what, 200-300k people assault the download as soon as it goes up I don't imagine the download speeds will be THAT bad.

On top of that, Microsoft isn't stupid. It knows that there will be a lot of people hit the servers. I think they are prepared more than we think.

that might be them, who knows. all i know is that i visit the mlg forums regularly and theres always a bunch of pros complaining that someone hacked their account. they stopped using simple accounts like "foulacy" a while ago.

btw, that shot of the ice is by far the best ice i have ever seen in a videogame. i hope bungie implements some particle effects in the snow though. lost planet style x2.
 
wow his video makes it look like the laser is the new sword. then again, the other kids were aweful cause they charged like scrubs.

is the sword still in this game?

Yeah, in the U.S. alone. Add the rest of the world, and the sales numbers are probably somewhere around 1 million by now (if not more). But who knows how many copies include the Halo 3 beta?

The game blows away Halo 2, but that up-close shot of the MC model doesn't look too impressive to me.

It did very well in Europe. Hung around at the top of the charts for weeks/months.
 
Does anyone have pics of the Halo2 (e3) beta vs the final version? Think we'll see a jump in graphics/performance like that again?
