Here's some things to consider:
1. The Halo 3 Trailer had more hits than the Beta will have. That's almost gauranteed considering the easy access to the trailer compared to the hoops you had to jump through to get into the Beta.
2. This is the biggest Xbox LIVE launch for Microsoft. Things are going to go slow, but Microsoft surely has planned on this already.
3. With the time frame the Beta is scheduled to release in, there won't be a massive penetration like if they released it at 5 p.m. Friday afternoon or something like that.

Also, fire different weapons at the shield doors on Snowbound and look closely at the effects. They are amazing, and vary by weapon. The spartan laser pushes out a bubble over a foot deep. Looks awesome.
