The Halo 3 Beta Thread

you know what: i'm going to sleep. aaaand i'm probably not waking up at 5 either. i'm afraid the xbl community will be deprived of my distinctive 'run around with the spawn weapon and lose to people i've got the jump on' playstyle until tomorrow afternoon.

You don't think it is reasonable to be annoyed at the fact that you paid 60 dollars for a Beta and are getting it dead last? That many people may have stayed up despite work/school to get a bit of playtime in, only to find their time has been totally wasted?

Maybe you should stop being such a slobbering fanboy for once and realize that a bit of disappointment is warranted. No, the Beta isn't ruined, but yea, people who bought Crackdown for the Beta ARE getting shafted, even if it isn't a shaft of epic proportions.

I couldn't have said it any better myself.

I may have overreacted earlier in the thread, but the least Microsoft could have done was let the Crackdown users get it first, then release it for the others.

I don't think Crackdown buyers should have gotten it first, necessarily, but I see no reason why they should be getting it LAST. I don't see the complications involved with "getting at the same time," though obviously the overwhelming majority of people playing the Beta will be getting in through Crackdown...

You didnt py anything for the beta, the beta was a bonus for buying crackdown. If you bought it soley for halo 3 beta i pitty you.

Try playing Crackdown, its a good game. Or do something else in the meantime, its just 4 hours. Microsoft or Bungie don't owe you anything.

According to MS, you paid 60 dollars for crackdown and got this amazing beta as a bonus. They have no reason to give you ANYthing first.

One minute and twenty-five seconds from pressing A on Crackdown to getting into the Downloads menu. It didn't kill me.

It's just not my kind of game. I gave it an honest shot but don't feel compelled to play it beyond that. I bought it because the Rule of Three thing was DDoSedby when I tried to get in that way.

Are you forgetting that this is Halo 3 and people have been playing/raving about it for five days?
 
The problem is that there's a discrepancy between the time when the public beta opens for some and when it opens for others. Ghaleon, you're flat out wrong when you say that it's slated to go up at 8. It's up now. People have received their codes, downloaded it and began playing.

Meanwhile, Crackdown buyers are stuck waiting.

If it was supposed to go up at 8, all codes should have been sent then and the Crackdown link should have been activated.
 
As tempting as it is to stay up just a couple more hours to download, I'll just go to sleep. Then wake up to awesomeness. I just hope the servers don't get fuxored to the point that it takes forever to download.

Yeah, it was easily a minute and twenty before I could do anything, which seems excessive. Nowhere near as bad as that wrestling PSP game, though :lol
 
I'm more bummed that my 360 is going to sound like Johnny 5 reading "The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" the entire time I'm playing.
 
Assuming the Crackdown thing was always going to be at 8 EST and would never be any earlier, it's probably technically a good thing that some of the downloads are getting done earlier. Spreads the load out a tiny bit more. Am I still pissed? Yes. Would I have preferred a chance to throw my hat into the download queue along with everybody else at exactly 8? Yes. I'm holding off real ire for when the Crackdown link doesn't activate until after 8 EST.

I'm debating whether or not I should stay up till 8AM to download this. At least Aegis Wing just popped up on XBLA, so I can use it to burn time until the beta is up.

You act like we're getting the beta months after everyone else. It's coming out in just 3 hours.

Nobody is getting shafted, Microsoft did a smart thing by staggering the releases a bit and letting a few thousand people download it a few hours earlier. Things should hopefully go smoother then if everyone was downloading it at the exact same time.

I want the beta just as bad as anyone else, but you are over-reacting here. They promised it for 5 AM PST/ 8 AM EST and that time hasn't come yet. You are complaining that it's not being released early which just seems silly.

We're just complaining that we're not the ones it was released early to. If I'd gotten into Rule of Three I'd be posting away about how awesome Bungie was for flipping my switch early.

If they're like me, it's just bumming that every other high profile download(that I can remember) has gone up the night before. 5 a.m. is that strange time where I really shouldn't stay up until, but am no way in hell waking up that early for. Also, I've been pretty pumped on playing this and seeing peoples impressions over the past week has just made the wait that much harder. Then to read people who aren't me just got the word to start playing it. Not the end of the world, but still kind of sucks for us.
