Pointless. You have to download the updates to be able to connect to Live from within Crackdown and thus download the beta.

Well a lot of people essentially spent $60 just to play this, they want what was promised and their venting isn't exactly unjustified

if they bought the game and never was able to get the beta sure, but just a few hrs of not being able to download it due to high demand and server issues? come on now...I'm positive all will be fine by mid day and you all will be having your halo fun (ie bitching about something)

It's still bullshit. They said it would be here at 8am EST... It's not, and is almost 3 hours late.

The least they could do is extended the beta by how many hours they are late, and if they are over 6 hours an extra day.

if Microsoft had released a statement that it would be "just a few hrs of not being able to download it due to high demand and server issues" that would be fine. they have not. for all we know the entire Crackdown downloaders if flawed. they have yet to tell us what the problem is, or when we can expect it to be fixed.
 
Why can't anyone just tell us whats going on?

I want to know if I can do something else without having to come back to check GAF every five minutes to see if the ****ing beta is up.

If anyone is interested in buying my copy of Crackdown so they can play in the beta, let me know. I see they're going for like 45-50 bucks on ebay.. I could put it there, but I'd rather help out an interested GAFfer at a rate lower than that -- send me a PM if you are interested and we can work something out. This thread grew like 1500 posts since 3 AM. :lol
 
I imagine Gamestop will be buying back copies of Crackdown at Madden 2006 prices come the end of this beta. And Ebay won't be much better. There is going to be a flood of Crackdowns out there.

Although I think I will just hold onto it. The DLC is pretty cool, and hopefully they make more. I bought the game for the Halo 3 beta, but it ended up being the best game I have played this year.

Seriously folks Crackdown is a great game.

And this is to be expected. I mean shoot I figure by now there are 750k to 1 million copies of Crackdown in the hands of gamers everywhere. And even it they're just curious they're probably all trying to get into the beta. So eh oh well.
 
I think you guys are being a little too hard on us Crackdown users. It's a great game, I bought it and played the hell out of it. But it's a pretty raw deal to have pretty much the majority of people who want to play your beta waiting though bc of technical difficulties.

Didn't anyone at Microsoft, Bungie, or Realtime Worlds actually stop to check if the Crackdown beta download would work?

I dunno if three hours is a bit late. But someone getting fired is also extreme.

Something needs to be done due to this negligence.
