Well the fact that it is a beta doesn't seem to be the problem. There are scores of people playing it.

You think I don't know waiting? I waited for 2 years to get Halo 2. Plus I waited at the mall for 2 hours to pick up my copy (well ok, I already had the French version 2 months early!).

I went out and got Crackdown the day it came out, and I've been patiently awaiting the beta ever since. Right now, I'm eagerly awaiting the second you all get on so I can own all the chumpsters and push my kill-death ratio to unheard-of heights.

My god if I tried to go back to Halo 2 after two days of Halo 3 I think my head would explode. It seems seriously archaic in comparison (not graphics, solely based on gameplay!).

One thing I LOVE is that there are a ton more long-range weapons laying around. BR's and carbines are soooo much easier to find (and usually are no more than 10 feet from where you spawn) that it just makes the game much less frustrating. I'd say just about every weapon has been either improved (Brute Shot, Plasma Rifle, Carbine, SMG, Needler) or balanced (Battle Rifle, Rocket, Plasma Pistol, Sniper Rifle) and the results are great!

Another huge plus is the framerate and solid network code. In matchmaking it generally plays butter-smooth, and movement around the levels just feels right. It's that good old Halo 1 feeling, recaptured and refined.

This is so true. I could play Halo 1 and 2 pretty interchangeably, with some adjusting. I don't think I'll ever be able to go back.

I suspect the problem stems from the Crackdown update...I can't conceive that the link has been broke for months and nobody noticed...I...can't comprehend that depth of incompetence .
