The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Oh your going to play the casual gamer card..... Your on a forum.... your not a casual!

Additionaly at the time of ZOE on ps2... there werent casual gamers. That category didn't really exist till the DS.

You're not too bright.

Eh, the whole discussion is about wether casual gamers would buy Crackdown for the beta alone?

And may I remind you of consoles such as Game Boy and PS?

I may have gone a little far with my argument, but your really not going to win on ZOE - MGS2 thing. Its common knowledge. I really didnt think this started about casuals or not, but I do think casuals would buy a game with a halo3 beta sticker on it. This thread is proof alone you can't underestimate the lure of halo.

Bought it for the MGS2 demo? Absolutely. Tobal No. 1 with the FFVII demo was also mentioned; that was another title where the same thing happened. Particularly with the Japanese release. When we imported it; people paid $70+ just play the demo. I thought Crackdown would be a mediocre title that would sell just because of the Halo 3 beta, and I'm glad I was wrong. The difference between Crackdown and the other "demo games" is that Crackdown kicks all kinds of ass.

Oh, I'm sure people who imported Tobal for FFVII were casual gamers!

I'd recommend you to go back and read my posts.

This thread alone is proof of nothing when it comes to casual gamers.

I'll agree with the ZOE thing for now, mainly because I'm getting tired of this discussion. Personally, I'd never buy it for the demo alone - and I'm no casual gamer. The game itself would be selling point enough. Same goes for pretty much all of my friends.

doesn't apply to this

3-6 hours huh? So what does that translate in the real world..6-8? Apparently others outside of the internet message boards are concerned as well. I'm still at work and have 2 hrs till close, but today I've had 57 people call in and ask about why the beta isn't up and I've had another 11 come in and try and buy Crackdown but we're sold out.

I really hope it's in 3-6 hours but I highly dobut it. Either way I guess it worked out for me that I had to work today and have Thursday off.

Fair enough

edit: and for the record, I'm tired of getting baited into casual gamer arguments. I'll start looking out for that word and flag it, my fault. No where's my beta. It's been a long day.

I'm still waiting on Minor Nelson to climb out of his hole and apologize.

What would he be apologizing for again?

On second thought, nevermind. I'm sure your answer would be so overflowing with geek entitlement it would make my head hurt.

What a crock of shit, the Halo 3 Beta period better be extended by at least a day or two to make up for this blunder.

Would be better if they extended it for a week to save face.

Are you kidding? I mean, aside from it being free, a pre-release glimpse of a highly anticipated game, and a beta, why would bungie/MS have to do anything? You know there are already a bajillion pre-orders, right? Are you telling me that you're not going to buy it if they don't extend the beta a day? Hell, even if Bungie cancelled the whole thing altogether you (and everyone else complaining) would still end up buying it, so please stop this bs and show a little patience. They aren't delaying on purpose; it's that simple.

quick. GET BACK to Halo 3...anyone hear the rumors

SPOILERS ABOUT A MP Gametype:
the people that cracked the beta code found a flood/zombie versus human type
. It sounds awesome. I remember playing it in Halo 2, creating our own type, it was fun as hell. A proper type would be awesome

Why, because I didn't wipe your nose and change your diaper when you were crying about not being able to play Halo 3 today?

You're breaking my heart.

Curious question, if a crackdown 2 happened and had no betas for anything, how well do you think it would sell compared to the first?

also on a sales note.. anyone think MS should include a ton of demos on a disc with halo 3? I mean it seems like simple logic.

They meant 3 plus 6 hours. Just think of it that way and you won't get your heart broken.

Five hundo in the first two months. People came for the Halo and stayed for the Crack. It is officially a beloved game.

So.. uuh, you guys think Halo 3 will be any good?

I mean, the second was a bit of a dissapointment after all. But I'm pretty stoked for the third game cause I'm sure Bungie has been listening carefully to criticism.

Certainly not, but all the people who did the same thing with the American version sure as hell were. :P Just adding to the point.

And you and your friends are in the minority on ZOE and not "casual gamers."

That term is archaic now, I think. Gaming is quite mainstream and most people are "hardcore."
