Having played Halo 2 for three years come November, I've become very attached to it. I load up Halo 3 and it's like there's something missing to it that I can't explain. The graphics are spectacular. They're better than Lost Planet, and scale-wise, comparable to Gears of War. The sound is nothing short of the greatest in-game sound in a video game. The gameplay is very tight and fun. But there's something missing from it. It's like the charm is lost. I don't know why. I guess it's because I've played Halo 2 for so long that anything that's not it will be tough to beat it.

PS. Gamertag is arhra, for any eurogaffers who feel like a game once i finally get it downloaded.

[real edit: oh great, just after i post, it decides to freeze up, then after a few seconds garble my screen with all kinds of bullshit then it clears up and gives me a message saying the download was cancelled for some reason or other. That can't be good. And now after restarting it's back at 1% :( ]

After getting up to around 46% I did what you suggested and for a few seconds it said 0%, so i threw my arms in the air and yelled NOOOO!!! Darth Vader style and right then it shot up to 51.
 
mine is almost done and i just wanted to come in and say Thank You to Bungie for extending the beta period. they didnt have to do it.

also for anyone getting stuck dont be afraid to stop the download and restart it. mine got stuck at 10% for a while then i restarted it twice and it finished in like 20 minutes.

Huh. Well, I hope you find out what's missing and share it with us. Could it be the campaign to compliment the multiplayer?

As someone who has been playing Halo 2 non-stop for the past 4 months, I feel like Halo 3 makes Halo 2 look very primitive and very lacking of strategy. I now chuckle at the people who thought Halo 3 would be just like 2.

I don't know. Halo 2 is my all-time favorite multiplayer game. But it took months of playing it to truly grasp it and appreciate it. I think that's what will happen with Halo 3. Halo 3 is better in every way possible over H2. But I haven't brought myself to enjoy it as much yet. THings will change over the next 3 1/2 weeks though.

Clear the cache. Go to the system blade/memory/select the harddrive and press Y. Then press X, X, left bumper, right bumper, X, X. It'll prompt you to do system maintenance. Select yes. This deletes all software updates, thereby forcing Crackdown to find the update from last night which has been replaced by the update today (which hasn't propagated to his update server). Thereby enabling downloadage.
 
I wish I could play against you all, but I'm pretty busy tonight. In the morning perhaps.

Also, I keep hyping up my big complaints, but no one seems to care. STOP CARING ABOUT THE BETA, CARE ABOUT MEEEEEEEEEEE!

I knew there was a reason I needed to get off my ass and hook up the surround at my new place. ****ING IDIOT I AM. I'm too lazy to hook up some wires, but I'll wake up at the buttcrack of dawn to download a game, go figure.
