The Halo 3 Beta Thread

Well, I tried going out to matchmaking by myself - ditching the other seven guys - and it was still saying there were files being transfered to Xbox Live.

So, I exited the Beta and came back in. Now when I select the "play the beta" option, I get the "Beta is unavailable or expired message".

:(

Edit: it just let me back in. Yay!

Yes, as with most control settings hit the start button from the intro screen. Then change tabs to "Settings" and have a ball!

I've had my 360 lock twice now when using the guide blade, and it's now started doing it in the dashboard too. (thought I would start a private chat before loading the beta.

Oh man so they're going to need another patch to fix the brokenness of the beta?

Why is this so difficult?
 
So I'm trying to get a Team Slayer match going and i get into a full room ready to go ad then it's gone and i'm the only one there.. then it happens again. and again.

Oh yeah and try not to do much dashboard crap while it's searching for and.or loading your game.. it's frozen up on me twice for doing that.
 
Mine was going alright until 60%. Then it seemed to get stuck. I stopped and restarted, shot up to 63%, then nothing. Now I've stopped and re-started it twice and each time it's gone up 1%. I've gone up 5% in the last 35 minutes, damn it. My friend in Canada completed the entire thing in 30 minutes :(
 
10,000 posts in a beta thread - God knows how big the official H3 thread will be.

I'm stuck at work so it's another 3 hours before I can even start downloading. Hopefully the heat will be off the servers a little by then.
 
I better not get that f#cking screen. first the wait f#ck up...then the slow ass download....now some lame beta over. is this real....???

I wonder how many 360s this will sell.

This thread will be a classic. 10k post for a beta. I cant wait to see what the final game does.

I know it's a beta - you don't expect a beta to tell you it's expired whenever you try to play it though, and what annoyed me is that my 360 is now crashing in the dashboard even.

It's taken me about 20 minutes to get another game going.

If you are seeing the "Game Over" message today, the 15th of May, try the following. Either, wait about an hour and relax, or if you cannot wait:

Restart your box, then do this:

Go to the dashboard.
Go to the system tab
Select memory
Highlight your hard drive
Press Y
Press X, X, LB, RB, X, X
Say yes when prompted to do maintenance on your hard drive.

This removes all previous title updates and prompts you to redownload new ones.

This message is only useful today, May 15th. When the Beta actually ends in three weeks, it won't help you.

I think I will probably wait till tommorrow to play. When everything has cooled off a bit.

Right now everyone in the world is trying to play and the servers just can't handle it.

Thanks, but I've had to do it five times in a row now before the game would even boot up.

A friend keeps on getting this, and it is quite annoying to say the least. Barring that, the 2 game I have played have been very nice so far.

OMG. We ****ed up our 360s. I'm freezing all over the place when accessing my friends list.
 
How do I make my status stop saying "away"? I keep moving the controller buttons and whatnot, any help would be appreciated. On another note, I'm up for party with GAF peoples so hit me up: GoTDiGGz
 
Your lockups have ZERO to do with having Crackdown or the beta in your system.

It's the massive amounts of traffic Xbox Live is taking on during this time.

It's locked me up during message sending and private chats too.

Hey guys,

If you're seeing the "GAME OVER" message, that's what the beta client does when it cannot fetch certain necessary files from XBL. The Beta is not, in fact, over.

It's almost certainly due to the outrageously heavy load hitting the servers right now. Sorry for the hassle, this is sort of what you'd expect might happen when you throw almost 50,000 users at a fresh system. It is being looked into as I post.
