The Halo 3 Beta Thread

One fire has been put out (additional server resources have been brought online), there should be an improvement on the waiting to start game problem.

Keep pounding away, this is helping to identify the bottlenecks. Can't find stuff like this till you actually do it, whee.
 
WHAT HAPPENS when two players with .4 kill ratios meet in COMBAT?

sounds like a challenge for Halo Suck Man™
 
the graphics and lighting is ****ing incredible! it looks sooooo much better on my HDTV than it does in any of the videos/screenshots.

edit: the water....it's god-like. :o the animations are some of the best I've seen too.
 
Assault Rifle is awesome -- way more useful than the SMG ever was, and it's not too powerful of a starting weapon like the BR. I'm actually content with running into battle with it and some grenades, and i always keep it my secondary.

In fact, all of the weapons seem pretty useful. I haven't tried the plasma rifle, but everything else seems to have its balanced issues fixed from H2. Less tracking & ammo depletion on the plasma pistol, for example. Double carbine clip. Less auto-aim overall. Sound effects on weapons sound great -- SMGs don't sound like toy guns anymore.

Spike grenades are a hugely welcome additon, i've already gotten several kills by sticking it to the wall as someone was chasing me.
 
Whoa. I want to hate it. I want to hate it so much. But i ****ing can't.

Unbelievable. It BLOWS away every other multiplayer game I've ever played. Even though I suck, me and FatalT managed to pull off the close win. Wow. I... I'm a convert. I'll be there at midnight Bungie.

GhaleonEB... heh, I ran into you the other night in the Beta. My GT's Intertron. I think it was a rumble game on High Grounds. Heh, my voice settings were on ALL OFF, otherwise I would've commented on how I recognized you from GAF.

Even the plasma rifle seems useful to me... its killer in close range since it drops shields so fast - I would just keep firing till their shield drops and give them a nice thwack, I also tried using it with a BR once and it worked fairly well.
 
Is there anybody else in Europe experiencing problems downloading the BETA? It was stuck on 1% for like 10 mins before I turned it off to come on the internet.

THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP

I've lost track of the number of games I arrive dead last. Heck, I might as well spawn a corpse in Slayer games. :lol

I've been doing well in objective-based games, though. Some flag caps, nice double kills in King of the Hill, a few successful bombing runs. That's where it's at for me.

So true. Even if they were useless (which they aren't, by any means), I'd still use them because they sound so freakin' badass now. Of all the sound improvements given to the various weapons from H2, I'm most impressed by the smg.

I'm in the U.S. and was stuck at 0% for like a good 10 mins before it started.

60% now

i'm going to bed and leaving my 360 on. If i wake up and it's dead...i will end somebody

Fun game so far - it's good to have Halo back.

Was playing a sniping round and the sound was amazing. You can pretty much hear any gunfight going, and tell how far away it is. I didn't get a chance to try all the new weapons but the old ones were great as usual, and the graphics were exactly what I was expecting. Can't wait to see the new enemies.

Single player is gonna kick so much ass.
 
My download doesn't even move. Ever.

I mean, if I cancel, the percent moves a little but this is ridiculous. It's ****ing 1am. I can't sit here and babysit this download all night.
 
Anyone else having a problem with the sides of the screen cutting off parts of the HUD (Like the radar, the far left grenade symbol, and the names of people when they die or get a kill) ? For the record, all of my other 360 games look fine.
 
I got 4 games in before I had to call it quits. Wow, I was never a fan of Halo 2's multi because of the extreme focus on dual wielding, but the Halo 3 beta is so well done. I think I'm already addicted. :D
 
grr got a message from a friend on live, went to check it and then i get signed out of the beta download telling me my hard drive is full, 5.6 gig free though, try and resume my download and now im stuck at 73% for a eternity, way to go m$ and Bungie

Same here. I had a blast, even if I died an ungodly amount of times.
 
Alright, I'm at 87%. It seems to be moving pretty quickly. I can play one game, before I pass out. I woke up to download it, but saw how fast it was going, so I decided I will play, but I am going to go to sleep until 4:30.

Halo 3: Betaphase verlängert


Crackdown-Besitzer hatten gestern Probleme, die Halo 3-Betaversion unter der entsprechenden Option runterzuladen. Bei Microsoft hat man Überstunden geschoben, um das Problem zu beheben - mit Erfolg. Und um sich für die Unannehmlichkeiten zu entschuldigen, hat man sich entschlossen, die Betaphase um vier Tage bis zum 11. Juni, 9 Uhr (MEZ) zu verlängern. Auch hat man einen Hinweis parat, für Leute, bei denen in der Beta kein Text dargestellt wird.

Good game... I saw you coming on the radar from behind and timed the jump, but it just didn't work out.


This game is at least 30 different kinds of awesome.
