The Halo 3 Beta Thread

The game really grows on you.
At first, it felt quite beta-like. Jaggies, unimpressive textures, and average netcode.
Then it hits you. Halo 3 feels very different from Halo 2. It feels much more hectic, the weapons are much better, the awesome rifle from Halo 1 is back. The gameplay is going to be ridiculously cool, and it's only going to get more polished.
Oh man, I don't think I'm gonna play anything else.

Man, I freakin love Snowbound. It's probably my favorite Halo map ever. Which isn't saying much because I hated Halo 2, but uh.. still! There's just so much about it, the first time I saw the Banshee explode while flying over a tower while I was inside of it I totally marked out.
I'm not sure how I feel about the lag. Aside from one or two noticeable hiccups, it's been great. The only thing else to complain about is when you go to melee someone the same time they melee you, I'm still not sure what determines who wins and it feels kinda laggy. Oh, same for the laser firing as you die. I'm sure that's a balance issue but it's happened to me so many times it's annoying. You get the blast off but the game pretends it never happened.

I played in a match recently with a guy who spent his time in the pregame lobby asking people to compare dick sizes, then spent the first half of the game asking if anyone would be interested in a "Cock enhancement to make the mrs. happy." Near the end of the match he started attempting to insert the word "cock" into every single word he could think of. He only had two kills.Manfred said:

i know im late to the d-pad discussion, but it seems to me that it would be most easily fixed by pressing d-pad for proximity, while regular speech went into team chat.

Wait, someone explain the d-pad thing. I thought it was press to teamspeak. It's just press for proximity? That's so... stupid. I don't see pushing it as that big of a deal, it takes almost no time to hit and a single moment of movement isn't really overly crucial thanks to how slow the movespeed is anyway. But if it's just for proximity talk... That's beyond retarded.

that and the color icons for skirmish matches like oddball. if i'm on the red team, why does the blue team get a red icon indicating they have the skull? cant tell you the number of times i didnt persue a target because i figured it was a friendly because of issues like that. confusing to say the least.

In team games prox is default. You talk normally without hitting a button and only those close to you can hear you. Both teammates and the other team.Son of Godzilla said:
If you want to talk just to the team, then you'll have to hit the d-pad. It'll open up the signal and broadcast it to the whole team no matter where they are.

Yeah sometimes we'll speak about something that isn't the attack at hand. I just hate the take finger off movement or off aiming to tap the d-pad. It works fine in however many other games you want to list, without it.
My kills+assists is over 1. I consider myself at least a passable teamate, then.

well my 360s dead it last about 18 months so thats 10 years 360 time.
overheated when playing halo 3 tonight ( locked up then the spinning xbox ball had red checkboard patterns in it) now its given me the 3 red lights....
sucks.....
oh well Ill get another one this fall with gta4 and halo 3...... have fun guys.

Anyway, I played for the first time tonight, I got Halo 2 way too late to get into that multi scene, but I played it a bit and found it pretty unbalanced and not that fun.
I'm really loving this though, I love almost all of the guns and just about everything feels just right for a console shooting experience.
Graphics are great in some ways, weak in others. The flowing water is impressive and we could use more of that in next/now gen. I have high hopes for SP.
I'm really looking forward to playing more, too bad I'll be out of town this weekend. Very fun.

I am still tryna get use to picking up weapons the the top shoulder buttons. Ugh, I cant count the times where I try to grab something with X, then someone behind me grabs it before I can remember (oh yea, top shoulder buttons)

people are too good at sniping and already too good with the spartan laser, I wouldent say im bad at the game, but I am terrible at sniping
