It's wierd, but the skill rankings really seem kinda legitimate. I mean, thus far it seems you can grind your way to infinite, but whenever I'm the lowest rank in a game I get dominated and whenever I'm the highest I'm untouchable. Could be a coincidence, but it's kinda cool.
Also snipers are powerful until someone decides to kill them. They excell at picking people off but there's almost nothing a sniper can do to prevent someone from coming after them, which reflects 100% positively on the map design. Of course the second weapon system allows them to stand their ground, but it's really a phenomenal gameplay experience.

I kinda liked it, but that was cause no one knew the map enough. When I was VIP I just hid in the underground area and no one would come for minutes.JB1981 said:

Dual Spikers are the only weapon so far that I really love. So deadly at the proper range.
Does anyone else think regular grenades are oddly powered? Sometimes they'll destroy somebody in long range, but standing on top of them they can take two? Is it a glitch or do I just suck?

Yeah that's REALLY confusing. they have to go back to the halo 2 system in terms of skirmish hud indicators. Plus they need the whole Gained the Lead, Lost the Lead and Tied the Leader audibles. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to remove them, but it's good for sense of urgency.

I'm a Halo virgin, so I'm not doing awful I guess, but Jesus. I have no understanding of how the weapons work. I'll run at somebody and be killed with one show in the half a second it takes for them to face me

VIP is worse on valhalla IMO. VIP just camps in the base...in my experience usually holding the missile pod. Three other teammates have to break in essentially and kill four guys + overshield. If they die, the map is large enough that they will respawn before the other three can make it to the other base.
I think it usually ends in stalemate unless the VIP comes out.

Other than maybe adding another specific weapon variation like Shotty Snipers, I don't really expect any more gametypes in the Beta. Most of the usual Team/Single variations are already there... and they're probably saving the "good stuff" for the full game.

I dont remember what color I was, but the other team kept spawning behind this rock with the VIP, they just stayed there and my team was pretty much getting dominated.
one thing I do like about snowbound is the underground portion, but no one seems to go down there, I would like to have some awesome battles down there, but everyone stays up top. I still think Valhalla is the best map, I always liked the Blood Gulch maps, but this one is great because even if your just walking around, you are getting ravaged by snipers all the time, there is enough cover everywhere

Some feedback for the Bungie folks reading this thread. It is mostly user interface related and mostly for saved films.
Saved Films
1) When you go to your file share, you should be able to edit the name/description of already uploaded files.
2) When uploading a file, you should also be able to click on it right there to cancel instead of pressing B to go back and entering the active transfers screen.
3) When watching a film, pressing start should give us the option to reccomend the film to a friend (right now you can only end film).
4) Upload complete has a warning icon (exclamation point)... not really a good idea, that seems more like an upload failed icon. Maybe put a smiley face or a thumbs up there or something instead.
5) When deleting a film, another film should move into it's place. Say you delete your 2nd film the 3rd one should go there instead of leaving a blank spot.
Territories
In Territories the points being captured should blink in a different more obvious color - yellow or orange for example. I don't think many people even realize that they blink (either that or I'm being matched up with crappy people). Also it'd be nice to see what percent they have captured like Halo 2 did (the squares filled up and you saw exactly what percentage the enemies have captured so far).
During gameplay, in Territories for example, I would like to be able to press RB to switch scoreboards - the default scoreboard would be what it is now (the objectives - territories taken, flags captured, etc) and the other scoreboard (when pressing RB) would be for kills/deaths. There is something kinda like this when viewing a film.

Heh, I spend almost all of my time on Snowbound down below. prefer closed quarters combat, so I usually try to get the shotgun first thing. If not that the spiker+plasma rifle combo works almost as well.

I'm surprised people badmouthing VIP on Snowbound. Had a good team there and we dominated the other one, 10-2. One of those against us was me screwing up since it was only like my third game. On Valhalla though it wasn't much fun. Map is just too big for it.

I finally was able to put the disable vehicle thing on the plasma pistol to use. It was CTF on highground, we were escaping with the flag and one of the enemies stopped right next to the gate waiting for someone to hop in his mongoose. Right as the other one hops in I hit them with an overcharge shot, and toss a couple frags or w/e nades I had down. Before they had time to react they went boom.

I just find the sniper rifle and win the level. I'm not that good at Team Slayer in general, but that's because I played Team Snipers on Halo 2 pretty much exclusively. Reached level 37 on my old Xbox. I'm not as sharp now, but I sure hope Bungie puts in a sniper mode in the beta.
SPARTAN LASER CRITICISM
While the Spartan Laser is nice, I think the victim really needs to be brutalized when hit with it. I mean it sounds like pure fury, it kills with pure fury, but the body doesn't react as if being hit by pure fury. The victim should be flung back at least three times as much as it is now. Make people FEAR THE FURY.
