the sheer volume of posts in this thread make it a de facto sticky anyway, since it's always near the top of the list.

Honestly, team watching of Saved Films was the one HOME bullet point I wished 360 had. And now here it is in just the H3 beta. Super smooth.
 
Hey guys, I read that Halo 3 has a lot of jaggies and looks just like Halo 2. Is this true, because if it is, I will suicide.
 
Probably already stated about the saved films...but you can send them to your friends and download them while in a lobby...such an awesome feature :)

Had a great run last night. Played a few games with Dj Brannon.

-I'm getting good with the sniper rifle, but no where good enough.
-I changed my sensitivity to 4, makes a huge difference.
-I really like wielding dual spikers.
-I noticed that in Valhalla when you walk by the smaller trees, they move.

yes there is some jaggies, even on the AR... YUK

but some things in the game look amazing and breathtaking (bases on valhalla, waterfall, lake, ice on snowbound.

but some things look unfinished

i'm sure everything will tie together nicely in the end.

Thanks, after that reply and finding one helpful guy ingame who was leading our team, i get it mostly now :) I did fairly well in the 2 territories games since, weee :p
 
Is it just me or some people are playing with mouse adapters or something? There was this guy we played against who totally raped us with the sniper. I mean, constant headshots. You could see his upper body move around crazy fast, as if the sensitivity was up to 10. Making it almost impossible to play at all with a controller. So I certainly can't imagine getting perfect headshots all the time. What the eff?


Also, I used to be a fairly awesome player back in Halo 2. But now in Halo 3, I'm finding my ass being handed to me way more often than I'd like to. The game keeps matching us up with players who are much higher skill level than us. We're like 1,3,2,1. And the game keeps matching us with teams with skill levels like 4,4,6,5. This is starting to get annoying and is taking the fun out of the game. On the 30-so games I've played so far, we won only 5 or so. Why doesn't it match us with people of our own level?

I encountered someone just like that in the last couple of games I played; he was at level 17. I think they're just really good Halo players.
 
someone should screen capture a guy getting stuck with that spike grenade and photoshop his head as the neogaf symbol...

Also, what sensitivity are you guys using? I'm at 6 right now. Sometimes I have a little problem properly aiming, but anything lower makes me feel like I can't turn around fast enough to face a foe coming from behind.

I actually find sniping in Halo 3 A LOT easier than Halo 2. Usually, if there's no or little lag, I'm popping off headshots left and right. Just using the controller. I think that's the case for a lot of people.
 
Finally got to play something other than shotty + sniper on High Ground. Three things.
1. I suck at Halo MP. I don't know what it is about this particular game, but I suck at it.
2. The matchmaking system sucks ass.
3. The weapons feel really good. Surprisingly, the battle rifle is a new favorite. Gameplay in general feels real good, despite me sucking at it. Sniper rifle still sucks, but then that's probably because sniper rifles suck ass by default.

Maybe its just when you're either solo, or in a group of 4? But it seems like it takes ages to find a group, then drops them, then finds another and drops them. Why not just search for a larger range at the beginning instead of slowly expanding it? The ranges don't seem to make much sense to me, either.

There was multiple times where it would tell me there is over 2 compatible matches, and it wouldn't put me into the game.
 
For the person who asked, I use sensitivity 9. As I played more I felt comfortable moving it up more & more. I actually used 8 on Halo 2, but it seemed a little slower so 9 on the beta. The quicker you can aim, the more damage you can do.

Also, I have only played shotty snipers a couple of times (and I have played a ton of games). It's come up I think maybe four times and it was vetoed once. THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE.

Yeah, it's not working so well right now. Beta and all that. It is a decent system though, and with the addition of custom lists, it should be perfect if they can get everything up to speed by launch.

This also a major problem. Why tell you then? Its like tempting you, and then nahh, you don't want that match.

I also enjoyed Territories in Valhalla last night, playing with Gowans (mine dropping bastard) and some other Gaffers. It was a blast.
 
I really like this game alot more than Halo 2. It has the same basic tactical combat and awesome maps that made the halo name but with nice added stuff like the sound effects are amazing in this game.
 
Also try simply shooting the trip mine when an enemy is near it. It will have the same blast radius and it usually takes one or two of them out.

Do you only advance with Wins ??

Every 10 wins you move up a Military Rank??

Guy on my team did that last night. He also got a triple kill with the mine. I heard nothing but him talking about a boner from that for about ten minutes afterwards.

Every ten wins you move up a rank until you get to 50 wins. After 50 wins it goes to 75 wins and then to 100 wins.

You get RP for experience alone. The more you play, the higher your Military Rank. The numeric ranking attached to each matchmaking gametype is determined by wins and losses.

the number seems to only go up when you win though

That can't be right, I'm a Corp Grade 2 and I've only won like 5 matches out of 40.
